To ask when I should expect the warm weather to end?

I know a lot of people are dreading winter this year but I’m dreading this warm weather going on for much longer. It makes me utterly depressed. Ive stopped most of my hobbies, I avoid going out, I constantly feel crap and lethargic, I’m looking at the weather app everyday praying for colder weather but it’s over 20 degrees for the next few weeks at least.

How many more weeks before the cold and dark returns?? Any idea?

Yes I am worried about the fuel bills before anyone asks but I’m still craving the cold

I hate the heat and we had a VERY mild winter in London last year - stupidly, insanely mild

We had frost TWICE the whole winter Sad

No wonder Covid and the viruses run through the country when there's no cold to kill them off

TheLostNights · 04/09/2022 19:03

I agree @LaurieFairyCake . Also in London and was a mild winter last year. Our part of the country seems to be warmer more than cold and sadly will become worse as time goes on.

Can you not use a weather forecast?

How odd

Can you recommend a decent one?

I've tried the met office and the BBC just recently. Both utterly and completely wrong. We've had a promise of rain many times this summer and it's been bone dry here for weeks on end. No rain for a couple of months at least. The weather app says it's raining right now in fact. It isn't. It's 24 degrees and still sunny.

nutellachurro · 04/09/2022 19:13

@ShowOfHands

AccuWeather is known to be the most accurate even 30 days out

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 04/09/2022 19:14

I couldn't agree more OP. I'm so sick of it. Sleeping with a fan every bloody night and going out as little as possible. Desperate for freshness and cool.

MajorCarolDanvers · 04/09/2022 19:15

It ended about 3 weeks ago. Had my heating in quite a few times. Non stop rain too.

BanditBluey · 04/09/2022 19:17

I'm East Yorks too and it was 25 here yesterday, I have covid so had a fever and was wishing it was cold.😷

Sally99 · 04/09/2022 19:30

I'm dreading the winter bills but can't wait for people to disappear back into their houses and the peace and quiet of winter

ninnynonny · 04/09/2022 19:35

I'm already feeling weepy and anxious about the hot weather going. I think I must have SAD as I feel genuinely depressed and verging on suicidal when it turns from summer to cooler weather. Last summer was hideous with the cold and rain.
I'm wondering if the GP could help

They will leave they give you happy pills that you don’t particularly need but it will keep you quiet or they’ll tell you to get one of those lamp things that I’ve never tried but I’ve heard good things about.

Come to Devon. Pouring with rain and 18 degrees here right now. Business as usual has returned.

This. I've been wearing a hoodie today. I want the sun back!

I have this too. I’ve found that the lamp does help, as does as much fresh air as possible and additional vitamin D and antidepressants. Sitting for hours under an electric light, forcing yourself to go out in crap weather in a lunch break and taking medication through months of darkness is bloody depressing though.

Fififelix · 04/09/2022 21:49

North west here early - mid 20s I think it goes a lot cooler in mid October.

I’m in East Yorkshire, it was 25 degrees yesterday and so humid. I had a splitting headache, honestly I just wanted to cry, I’m so tired of it now. I can’t remember the last time I slept properly

Same area. It was warm in the park yesterday! Sure it will be cooler soon.

CherryPieface · 04/09/2022 21:53

22 tomorrow in Glasgow, so humid and sweaty!

weevil5 · 04/09/2022 21:58

Not being able to sleep when it's been max 20 degrees in the daytime sounds quite extreme - do you have a health condition that makes you sensitive to warm temps?

I reckon it will get cold when the fair time comes.

Suetwo · 04/09/2022 22:47

Oh, thank god it’s not just me. I’m in Essex and am SO sick of this heat and humidity. It just will not Fck OFF!! September 4th and I’m sitting here a sweaty mess. Ugghh, I can’t remember the last time I felt cool. Every night it’s the same - humid and stuffy. I think I have felt hot and uncomfortable pretty much every day for two months solid. I walked into town today and had to change when I got home because my T-shirt was soaked with sweat. I love the sun and the light evenings, but god I yearn for some cold weather. The first time I can see my breath and wear a coat and scarf I will be overjoyed.

This summer has been a nightmare. I don’t think I can stand it if we get summers like this from now on. I have even been looking into property prices in Scotland and the north east of England. To make it worse, my home town (about 50 miles outside London) is one of the fastest growing in the U.K. Horrible new build estates are mushrooming everywhere. The roads are now a living hell, filled with noisy modified engines and endless tailbacks, and the atmosphere in the town seems to be getting nastier and more edgy. The overcrowding, combined with the heat, has made me so unhappy I could cry. I long to be somewhere cold, bright and peaceful. Instead, the future is hot, crowded and unbearable.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/09/2022 22:53

Autumn is nearly here, I've just had to shut my doors as it's too chilly, can't remember the last time I did that😱

RampantIvy · 04/09/2022 22:57

It's very comfortable here in Yorkshire. I did a roast today for the first time in months.

We have 24 degrees forecast for tomorrow.

Flidina · 05/09/2022 06:17

Couldn't agree more OP can't wait for this warm weather to do one. This summer has been horrendous for me,made me miserable and uncomfortable and it just seems to go on and on. 21° here last night, Northeast at 9pm, dreading higher fuel bills like many, but so looking forward to cooler weather, to actually feel normal again.

knittingaddict · 05/09/2022 07:20

YellowTreeHouse · 04/09/2022 10:06

The difference is cold weather is miserable.

Warm weather is pleasant and joyful.

Not for everyone it's not.

I know how op feels. Roll on autumn.

Againstmachine · 05/09/2022 07:37

Pretty much the same time as it does every year, where ever you are.

jammywagonwheel · 05/09/2022 08:00

ScaryBiscuitz · 04/09/2022 10:07

Maybe for you. For me (and many others) the cold dark weather is peaceful - the sunny weather is suffocating and depressing

This...I always feel myself coming alive when there is a slight nip on the air .. This summer has been miserable with the heat and now the humidity. Definitely looking forward to autumn.
I know that most of us are dreading the winter fuel prices, but there will be a window of blessed relief from the heat before the heating needs to go on.....

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 05/09/2022 08:07

I don’t want it to stop. I have loved being on my new house with the back doors open. Happy the temperature as for lower. But I’m liking it at the moment. And want to put off the cold as long as I can
