To ask when I should expect the warm weather to end?

I know a lot of people are dreading winter this year but I’m dreading this warm weather going on for much longer. It makes me utterly depressed. Ive stopped most of my hobbies, I avoid going out, I constantly feel crap and lethargic, I’m looking at the weather app everyday praying for colder weather but it’s over 20 degrees for the next few weeks at least.

How many more weeks before the cold and dark returns?? Any idea?

Yes I am worried about the fuel bills before anyone asks but I’m still craving the cold

The difference is cold weather is miserable.

Warm weather is pleasant and joyful.

Welcome to people who don't share your central nervous system, @YellowTreeHouse Confused

Warm weather is pleasant and joyful.

Only if that's how you feel about it.

Op and I don't. Hot weather makes me feel harassed and poorly. I have a medical condition that means winter and summer alike I cannot monitor my body temperature so sweat profusely doing simple things like changing nappies of a baby who isn't struggling or fighting it (unlike my nephew who didn't like to feel the air on his skin as a baby 😂) or walking up/down stairs or putting a light bin bag in the rubbish all year round. It doesn't have to be strenuous stuff.

The hot weather makes this even harder. I vomit and have gone light headed and had to sit down before falling down several times this summer due to sheer heat and being unable to cool down from dangerous temps as fast as my body needs me too. Late autumn and winter are the only times that feel bearable for me.

In your opinion. I find warm weather miserable.

WaltzingWaters · 04/09/2022 10:16

This weather has been glorious! I absolutely love it. Long may it last and return to this each summer. Pleeeeease.

gingercat02 · 04/09/2022 10:18

NE coast. Raining now and pretty much until next Saturday. Mid teens. I was hoping for an Indian Summer 🤞🌞

I’m in East Yorkshire, it was 25 degrees yesterday and so humid. I had a splitting headache, honestly I just wanted to cry, I’m so tired of it now. I can’t remember the last time I slept properly

I'm highly intolerant to heat, I suffer every year when the temps go up, but I have to say it doesn't sound normal to be "suffering" in 25C, that's not right, it isn't that hot. You mention you have had a splitting headache, are you sure there isn't something else going on here? It doesn't sound like heat alone is the problem.

are you drinking enough fluids during the course of the day.

is your BP / pulse at a normal level
are you getting enough exercise.

not necessarily questions you need to answer on here, but it's worth you thinking about your general health, plus meds, hydration etc, as the bigger picture.

squashyhat · 04/09/2022 10:28

YABU to ask when it will end. The Met Office long range forecast is quite easy to find on the Internet.

Moaning about it isn't going to change anything.

In your opinion. I find warm weather miserable.

My ideal weather is a bit of cloud, no bright sunshine, a light breeze and around 20C. Really boring and "just there" so I can go out in light clothing. Not too much to ask Grin

anything other than that is not bloody joyful!

Fraaahnces · 04/09/2022 10:33

I live in Australia and I would say that atm we have reasonably similar temps. Generally when ours start to rise, yours drop. Give it two weeks and you should feel more comfortable. A month and everyone will be bitching as usual.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 04/09/2022 10:44

Roll on the dark and cold nights for all the families that can't afford to heat their homes. Wooo what a bloody jolly time to come.

BitOutOfPractice · 04/09/2022 10:46

I'm thinking of starting a thread "when will all the threads moaning about summer end?"

Not everyone thinks that. As can be seen by this thread. For me, hot weather is miserable, and cold weather is gorgeous!

Do that, and then all of us that don't like hot weather can come along and tell you you need to buck up and put a jumper on, because cold weather is lovely 😁

RampantIvy · 04/09/2022 11:10

7am this morning might as well been mid afternoon, sunny, people everywhere

It was raining here in South Yorkshire this morning. It is currently a cloudy 20 degrees. Yesterday was a pleasantly warm and cloudy 23 degrees.

I'm thinking of starting a thread "when will all the threads moaning about summer end?"

Grin I’ll join you. Although, we desperately need rain. These reservoirs are fairly local to me. Howden reservoir is only 15% full Sad

@RampantIvy thats such a sad and worrying sight. Let's hope there will be some sustained rainfall soon

RampantIvy · 04/09/2022 11:34

I have stopped watering my flowerbeds completely, and am only using what is in our water butts for the plants in pots.

DoubleShotEspresso · 04/09/2022 11:35

I'm also in London and hating the heat, the holidays have been a complete write off as the heatwave at its height just murdered my ability to function properly. Hate it hate it hate it.
Yesterday was still boiling until late evening.... I just want autumn to hit as normal now. Exhausting

C'mon, there's nothing quite like a good moan about the (UK) weather, it's our national sport.

I'm just warming for the winter "it's bloody freezing, damp and miserable" thread, won't be long now.

If you're a gardener like me, leaf mulch is the way forward. We have a few deciduous trees in the garden and last Autumn I collected up all the leaves and piled them up along the borders. Over the winter the worms worked them into the ground and it has meant the soil is parched on the surface but underneath, the moisture has been retained even during the heatwave. Game changer! I've got another 2 waterbutts on order, as they've collected a surprising amount of water even from the few showers we've had recently, out West, enough to fill them up again.

we need to go outside and do a rain dance!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/09/2022 12:01

Nope I love the warmer weather tbh

zingally · 04/09/2022 12:12

I'm in the heart of the midlands, and it's 22 here today. I went to the shop about 10:30, and it was just warm enough to be in a t-shirt. It's been a lovely summer in terms of weather. I feel like I've barely worn a long sleeve in months. But I'm also ready for some cooler temperatures.

ilovesooty · 04/09/2022 12:15

As @squashyhat said, I presume that you have the same access to the relevant information as anyone else.

If you didn't really expect an answer different to one you could research for yourself and just wanted to moan perhaps you should have said so.

Bonjovispjs · 04/09/2022 12:19

I'm in London and low 20s like it is now is the perfect temperature, warm enough for T shirts, but not unbearably hot, hope it stays like this for ages.

TheLostNights · 04/09/2022 15:52

Still fairly hot and humid here in London. 24C today, hoping it cools down properly soon. It has stretched on forever this year.
