To ask when I should expect the warm weather to end?

I know a lot of people are dreading winter this year but I’m dreading this warm weather going on for much longer. It makes me utterly depressed. Ive stopped most of my hobbies, I avoid going out, I constantly feel crap and lethargic, I’m looking at the weather app everyday praying for colder weather but it’s over 20 degrees for the next few weeks at least.

How many more weeks before the cold and dark returns?? Any idea?

Yes I am worried about the fuel bills before anyone asks but I’m still craving the cold

Ive just looked at the forecast and it’s showing 17c overnight ! Really, I’m ready for boots and frosty mornings now.

This weather has been glorious! I absolutely love it. Long may it last and return to this each summer. Pleeeeease.

Yes, hooray for climate change!

I've had enough too, OP. I'm menopausal and the hot flushes and night sweats are annoying enough as it is but in the heat it's really unpleasant.

darisdet · 04/09/2022 16:00

The nights feel much colder and the days have been warm yet overcast here. Storms and just under 20 degrees for the next week. It won't be long now, OP.

Crunchymum · 04/09/2022 16:16

I remember it being 30c in London on 1st October 2011. Granted that was 11 years ago.

It still feels quite warm to me but it's not unusual for the kids to go back to school in their summer uniform.

We've had duvets off the beds for a few months now, I've just put them back on. Kids still kicking them off at night but I needed the storage space.

We'll probably last until October before the kids fleeces come out and we go to tights instead of long socks. We always layer up so hold off on the winter coats as long as possible. Waterproofs always on hand of course.

SirChenjins · 04/09/2022 16:19

Edinburgh here and it’s pleasant - colder in the mornings and evenings though. The longer the weather’s mild the cheaper our energy bills will less chance of ice and snow - result!

OhmygodDont · 04/09/2022 16:28

Honestly cooling by a couple of degrees fine but really wishing for frosts and what not when prices are up up and up is crazy.

if your too hot to sleep I recommend a tent. Doesn’t matter how hot during the day always seems cold overnight in a tent without sufficient blankets. I agree with another poster though you really should get checked out if your having such terrible headaches etc in this temperature. Locally down to 13 overnight here next week with low 20’s in the day. Hoping for the frosts to stay away as long as possible.

You'd never say that to someone who feels the cold. It's fine to not like the heat AND be worried about the energy crisis.

Low 20’s isn’t hot though. I’d get moaning about high 20’s - 30’s and offer ways to feel cooler.

just like people who feel the cold wrap up, thicker curtains etc and get checked for medical conditions if your suffering especially with fingers/hands as it can be a sign of worse medical issues.

As @squashyhat said, I presume that you have the same access to the relevant information as anyone else.

If you didn't really expect an answer different to one you could research for yourself and just wanted to moan perhaps you should have said so.

Gosh, you really don't get the concept of pleasant, idle chat, do you? People are allowed to start a conversation any way they want. The glory is, this is an Internet forum, and if you don't like it, you can scroll on. Who knew?

ADialgaAteMyDog · 04/09/2022 16:52

My personal rule of thumb is that I don't put jeans/jumpers on until the clocks go back. Even if it feels cooler, the sun is still quite strong when it's out until then.
It's about 21C where I am which is about ok, although it hasn't really rained for about three weeks and the grass definitely needs some water.

Again,it's not hot to YOU.

lollipoprainbow · 04/09/2022 17:20

I've never known it be so warm in the evenings/night as this time of year before. It's definitely not as awful as the heatwave we had a few weeks ago but it's still incredibly warm.

heidihigh · 04/09/2022 17:22

I'm always a bit Confused with people starting these threads as I live in the west mids and whilst it's warm, it's not unpleasantly so. However, we were in London yesterday and it was unbearable, warm but cloudy and very muggy and sweaty. Proper headache weather. Don't blame those with that kind of weather for wanting it to end!

the80sweregreat · 04/09/2022 17:25

It's horribly hot again ;(
I hate it

Yes, and I'm allowed to respond to it any way I please @Somethingsnappy , as long as it doesn't break the Talk Guidelines. Since the OP really wasn't looking for an answer but just wanted to add to the many moaning and whinging threads on the same subject, I responded as I saw fit. I hope you've been able to take that explanation on board.

tillyandmilly · 04/09/2022 17:29

No it’s not yellow treehouse — I love autumn and feel energised- summer months feel tired and hot with a headache

nutellachurro · 04/09/2022 17:35

Can you not use a weather forecast?

How odd

Loics · 04/09/2022 17:35

We have rain at the moment! I can't wait for the cold weather either, rather warm the house up than have to try to cool it down.

Watch it. You'll get told you "don't get the concept of pleasant, idle chat". 😁

Siameasy · 04/09/2022 17:46

I’m the opposite to you. I’m currently sunbathing at the front of the house as thf garden is shady. I spent even that hot Tuesday sunbathing albeit sitting in DD’s pool. And we are SE. Total sun ☀️ worshipper

I think October can be nice. I hate January and February so much. Just so depressing

teddyclown · 04/09/2022 18:01

It's been 28 degrees here in Suffolk this afternoon. Haven't had rain here for weeks.

RunningSME · 04/09/2022 18:06

All this running around buying heated blankets extra gloves and things to keep warm just made me chuckle in light of the fact that we’ve got global warming you better get used to this weather not worry about how you gonna stay warm

SirChenjins · 04/09/2022 18:11

Probably true if you’re in the south of the UK - not true for this of us in the north of the UK

BeanCounterBabe · 04/09/2022 18:12

Come to Devon. Pouring with rain and 18 degrees here right now. Business as usual has returned.

AquaTorfanaa · 04/09/2022 18:17

It's so muggy here in South Wales. Our reservoirs are in desperate need of sustained rain and while we've had some today, it's just not enough. Forecast says rain all week with a high of 23 and a low of 14. I'm really struggling with the muggy weather and we need a giant thunderstorm to break it all up.
