To ask do you see your DC as an achievement?

One of my friends said she didn't consider people having babies as an achievement because most people can do it and it's an insult to those who can't have children.

I'm not sure I consider having DC as an "achievement" as such but I have put work in and made sacrifices to raise them of course. So I wasn't sure what to think about this statement.

What do you think?

I'm absolutely in wonder that I have 2 healthy children. One is about to become an adult and it amazes me me every day that we got this far.

So yes it does feel like an achievement.

Every single thing you have done in your life is an achievement.

I have done many things in life that are widely considered achievements but I have also done several things that were in no way shape or form an achievement (getting dreadfully ill after consuming too much alcohol on my 20th birthday stands out) so I beg to disagree.

Yup. Took ten years to make a successfully deliver.

Also she is absolutely brilliant, happy, loving and kind.

having a child is not an achievement.

raising a child well is an achievement.

Maybe not for you.

The books I've published and my academic qualifications I see as achievements.

I don't see DD as an achievement as such.

When people say their DCs are their greatest achievements, I always secretly feel that they must have had quite a small life Blush

Feels awkward to say it... but I totally agree.

Love my kids and I'm happy that they're happy and finding their direction. But their lives are their achievements - I just had sex and then supported their development for a couple of decades. Whilst also striving to achieve the things I set myself to.
