Do introverts prefer autumn/winter more?

If you’re a quieter, more introverted person, do you prefer the colder months?
I feel I used to adore summer when younger and more outgoing, but now sort of welcome autumn and winter in more.
Less pressure to be out doing things than on sunny days, I can hide away at home, hide away in winter clothes, less people around (I live in a tourist place) and less going out.
Am I a weirdo 🤣

I am like all the seasons really (such the Pollyanna) but I find I can get away with not being social when I don’t feel like it much more easily in summer, as people are on holidays and it’s all a bit more relaxed, the rest of the time it’s can you do dinner 2 weeks Friday (which is lovely, obviously.)

Maybe I am weird.. 🤔

Oysterbabe · 28/08/2022 18:36

I don't care what the weather is as long as people leave me the fuck alone, which they never do.

Leafy3 · 28/08/2022 18:37

No

EverydayIsPJday · 28/08/2022 18:38

Works for me (an introvert). This summer has been TOUGH. I also hate wearing so little due to the heat. I feel so exposed. I am absolutely over the moon we are about to move into September, my favourite month, and I'm due a baby too. Bring on the big snuggly cardigans and baby cuddles 🥰 I think the run up to Christmas is quite lovely too, the dramas on TV, popping the slow cooker on, drawing the curtains after a busy day....I might be totally wierd though.

DustinsHat · 28/08/2022 18:41

I don't really see myself as introverted or extroverted. I love all of our beautiful seasons.

Hidingawaytoday · 28/08/2022 18:44

I imagine some do and some don't. Just like I expect some extroverts prefer autumn/winter to summer.

I'm an introvert and I prefer summer as I like the warmth. I also enjoy socialising, I just need a break from people to recharge.

Wishyouwerehere30 · 28/08/2022 18:44

I love the autumn, dark cosy nights in, candles lit, jumpers/boots back on. I live in a city and hate the summer here but oddly love summer in the countryside/abroad. Too much expectation in the summer to think you should be out socialising at bbqs constantly. Like when the kids go back to school, everything just seems more organised. Think introverts living in cities/busy places are more suited to autumn!!

I mean it's cod psychology invented by advertisers. I find it incredible that people are basing their identity and sense of self on such nonsense.

Carl Jung was not in advertising Confused

WoodlandMummy · 28/08/2022 18:50

Introvert 👋🏼 I am such a winter person. But I don’t think it has anything to do with my introversion. as often, autumn and winter are a v sociable time. And anyway, I enjoy socialising, I just don’t want to do it for too many hours!

For me, I just love to be cosy and as someone upthread mentioned, autism and winter are such mystical seasons 🎃

Autism Hmm AUTUMN

I’m an introvert. I’m at my best in summer and really don’t like autumn and winter. There are loads of activities to do in summer for those of us who like spending time in our company - endlessly bobbing in the sea somewhere hot (albeit while my partner is guarding our stuff on the beach), sitting in the garden or park reading with a cold drink, going for walks late into the evening, gardening (I love the solitary ritual of going back and forth to the water butt and wandering around my garden watering on a hot summer night). Summer socialising is more informal too. I prefer a relaxed barbecue with close friends to the organised fun of New Year’s Eve, where by definition you need to stay a certain length of time, or office Christmas parties.

BringOnSummerHolidays · 28/08/2022 18:59

I am an introvert and I like summers. I just love opening the windows and sitting in front of a window with a breeze. Or sit in a shade in the garden.

Goosygandy · 28/08/2022 19:04

No. My worse season is Christmas. All that faux jollity. How many parties are you going to pressure. The exhaustion of the build up. Everyone talking about it for months before and weeks afterwards.

I can do exactly what I want in the summer and no one expects me to do exactly what everyone else is doing.

MischiefTheChicken · 28/08/2022 19:05

I’m very introverted but also suffer from SAD so I benefit a lot from lots of daylight and sunny weather. I’ve noticed if we have a good summer I can go longer into autumn before my mood dips, like I can charge up on the sunshine or something!
I don’t feel any more obliged to be more social in the summer months though, I’m happy to spend time with people when I want and draw a line when I need a break.

neighboursmustliveon · 28/08/2022 19:06

My husband is introverted and hates autumn and winter (I'm extroverted, well much more so than him, and love those months). I am dreading the almost daily use of the word Gloomy from him 🙄

Scepticalwotsits · 28/08/2022 19:09

Im introverted but a lot of people confuse social anxiety or being anti social as introversion.

I like people being introverted doesn’t make you a recluse and hate people, just means it’s draining when I do spend time interacting .

season wise I prefer winter but I don’t think it’s anything to do with introversion but more my love of winter sports/activities

Numbat2022 · 28/08/2022 19:09

I'm an introvert because I gain energy from being alone, not because I like a particular season.

For what it's worth I like spring and autumn best, and loathe January and the first half of February because of the dark.

FuzzyPenguin · 28/08/2022 19:10

Never considered this, I love Autumn/ Winter. I can feel myself come alive when the night draw in and the air gets cooler. Nothing like shutting the curtains and the world out and making my own cozy place.

I am an introvert.

psychomath · 28/08/2022 19:13

I'm not really a big people person but I prefer summer I think, the hot weather puts me in a good mood. That said I do also love autumn and winter when it's dry - it's just usually not!

Belindabelle · 28/08/2022 19:20

I adore Autumn and and Winter. I am just starting to feel like myself again this week.

The sun is lower, the nights are longer and there is that lovely smell in the air.
The darkness is like a huge comfortable blanket that I love to surround myself in.

HeidiWhole · 28/08/2022 19:22

Fairly introverted- hate the winter!
Winter involves Xmas which means lots of socialising.
And empty beaches are better in summerGrin

Spidermanagain · 28/08/2022 19:24

@HeidiWhole Thats the thing, where I am the beaches are ram packed in summer 🙈

Oh yes, you're definitely onto something there. I love getting cosy, cook something nice and candles on. Less sun means less pressure to go out!

This. This. This. (Except the winter sports part 😆)

I hate the assumption that introversion = shy/anti-social/reclusive.

Peoplepissmeoff · 28/08/2022 19:31

As an introvert yes I much prefer Autumn and Winter to summer. Like others have said there are far fewer expectations to be out enjoying myself, everywhere is crowded and noisy and I just think the warm weather brings out the worst in some people. Neighbours play their horrendous loud music in the garden during the warmer months and I can't wait until it gets colder and darker and they all bugger off back inside. If I could skip the months of June through to August I would!! X
