  1. Ex colleague making a video of herself recounting an episode that she had in the shower after seeing a spider in there. Still wrapped up in towels she was and clearly just wanted lots of attention, likes and laughs.
  2. One of my colleagues is with a guy who she thinks craps rainbows even though many of us find him arrogant and rude. She posts photos of herself looking up at him in a simpering and submissive way and it's truly cringeworthy.
  3. Mll lady who says she can now retire her husband, how she is the luckiest girl in the world and posts everyday about how blessed she is and how everyone else can be just like her if they say 'yes' to the opportunity of selling her products.

Social media has made everyone so self indulgent. It's given us all a platform to air our thoughts, but the truth is that most of us are not that interesting or funny and should really stay off it!

When someone gets engaged and they have a photo of the ring and its says "I said yes!!! I can't wait to marry my best friend!" 🤮

I used to take the "married my best friend" thing at face value.

I used to take it to mean they had been close, platonic friends for a long time before getting together.

Then I realised it's just a stupid thing that a load of people have started saying.

I like watching ‘reels’ on Facebook and Instagram - short videos that are supposed to be funny/poignant/interesting. And I enjoy most but so many of them follow the same trend and the one trend I HATE HATE HATE is the one where they have some sort of disco light filter, dance and play Alexis Jordan’s ‘Happiness’ whilst whingeing about something. So fro example: The title will be ‘Things people say to me as a blonde’ and the woman will be dancing and will start pointing to sentences that appear, with a cross look on their face. Sentences are what people say to them and it will be things like ‘I bet blondes have more fun’ ‘Are you a natural blonde’ etc. other titles are things like ‘Things that people say to me as a new mum’ and ‘Things people ask me as a dental nurse’.

Such a weird way to have a moan and also it’s always non-issues they moan about . I feel like commenting ‘So what, so people aren’t always psychic and say the exact words you want them to say at any given time, that’s life, get a fucking grip and by the way no one really gives a shit that you’ve made this innocuous decision you self-involved narcissist’

Oh my god yes this!!!
The random little Dance and jig and then pointing to the sentences popping up 😷

Aussiegirl123456 · 30/08/2022 03:47

That dance (if you can call it that) where they bop and then point at words while having a vacant yet smug smirk on their face is so embarrassing to watch.

Another is when someone minor says something like “can’t wait to show you ….” 4 days to go etc. Like anyone cares, honestly. Usually MLM and a new product.

I have a friend (in her 50’s) who posts selfies of her asleep. Except she isn’t asleep, she’s pretending while holding up her phone. Just why? I don’t understand.

I can not stand people wishing dead people a happy birthday/anniversary/Christmas/ ect ect

Yes!!! Usually including "hope you're having a ball up there having a few pints with uncle Jimmy" and similar things.

I also hate those "reels" that are on Facebook at the moment. They're usually mums doing some sort of weird dance with their hands while a list of things appears (Usually coming and going before you have time to read it!) on the screen about their child. I wouldn't watch them but my friend and I are having a competition at the moment to find the most cringey dance 😂

StClare101 · 30/08/2022 05:26

A relative posts extensively about her child’s mental health challenges. The child is 12 and not on FB. I think it’s a massive invasion of the child’s privacy and really quite disgusting.

That is so true.

EVHead · 30/08/2022 06:21

“Making memories”. 🤮

Wait a few years and see how you react when your kids can’t remember that trip to the woods where you collected a basket full of conkers.

KimberleyClark · 30/08/2022 06:30

And the woman in her 50s who posts 'Can't do my morning walk today, feel so low' and when people ask her what's up she says 'I'll pm you hun'.

There’s a word for this sort of thing, it’s called vaguebooking. I hate it.

mangomelba · 30/08/2022 07:37

A woman on my Facebook who posted a few weeks ago how she was 'done' with her boyfriend who is controlling, possessive, narcissistic and a pathological liar and now she was focusing on herself because she doesn't need him or anyone. Cue a lot of 'you got this gun' and 'pm me hun I got your back' responses. Then yesterday she was tagging herself out for the day with him, all hashtag 'secondchances' and photos of them very much back together.

HelloThereObiWan · 30/08/2022 07:45

My cousin posts a selfie once a week or so and it is always massively edited. She smoothes her skin so much with the filters her nose almost disappears! Then she gets loads of comments along the lines of "beautiful hun xxoxx"... and I'm always thinking "but that's not what she looks like!"

It's sad in a way because in reality she is a very pretty lady so I don't understand the need to post these ridiculous photos!

BigBinBag · 30/08/2022 07:46

Grown men and women posting lots of selfies. The odd one with a purpose is fine but people dumping 10 posey pictures of themselves is just so cringe. I know successful intelligent women in their 40s and 50s who pose and post selfies like teenagers. They are obviously doing it for the likes and compliments. It makes me cringe that their self esteem needs this boost, sort it out and have some dignity!

I think people wishing their spouses happy birthday/anniversary etc - they are in the same house as you, so just say it to their face!
I don't mind people boasting about their kids exam results though.

Yes those are just embarrassing for the person. You know there's a 99% chance they are struggling as a couple in some way. Same with the posts about wonderful their partner is.

yes that gives me the cringe too.

Think the cringiest photo ever is the one of Michael Buble’s wife after she gave birth recently. It’s clearly staged as ‘raw’ and ‘in the moment’, but she had a c-section so it would’ve been some time after the actual birth. It looks like an exorcism.

Bobshhh · 30/08/2022 08:28

This will probably not go down well but the wife of an acquaintance on Facebook recently experienced a termination for medical reasons, she keeps posting pictures of the foetus on Facebook and although I appreciate this is her way of grieving, it just seems so unsuited to a platform like FB.

This really nails a lot of what's cringey about Social media and really made me laugh. It's from a comedy special on Netflix.

Hope the link works

This is absolutely brilliant! He's definitely hit the nail on the head

My DH wished me happy birthday this year on Facebook for the first time ever, we’ve both been on it for about 10 years. We are certainly not struggling. Been married 32 years.

If you're having to defend your relationship when I said 99%, I think you might be protesting a little too much...

My DP's daughter's much older boyfriend subscribes firmly to the school of thought which says "Multiple selfies or it didn't happen", along with captions saying things like "living my best life with this amazing girl". He's 37. Vom. Their recent holiday in Greece was documented very thoroughly.

(Surely a 36 year old should be referring to his partner as a woman not a girl)

DoubleGauze · 30/08/2022 10:54

@Bobshhh no! Why on earth would you do that?

PinkRiceKrispies · 30/08/2022 12:32

People who split from their husbands/wives and a few months after telling the kids, they then photograph their kids on FB with new partner.

Synny · 30/08/2022 12:36

Oh no I am guilty of a few of these.

Food pics and selfies on a night out - done that

Holiday snaps - maybe two posts of the holiday with several snaps in each

I've wished my partner a happy birthday a couple of times and used a selection of memorable photos. Don't do this every year.

Have probably boasted about some mundane thing my children have done.

Oh god I'm cringe aren't I.

poweredbyplants · 30/08/2022 12:37

Those "cute kid" videos that go viral but where the child is improperly strapped into a car/carseat (or not at all sometimes). I think one of the worst I've seen was a baby carrier placed FF on the seat but not strapped in just being held there.
