To think if I don't wear heels to an office job then what?!

Because flat "smart" shoes look so weird and crap on me.

But I can't wear heels as will have a lot of walking around campus.

It's been YEARS since I worked in a "smart" office.

What do you guys wear on your feet with skirts and dresses please?

Are sandals ok?

Private hospital office - a very posh one.

First day I'll do black trousers and black flat loafers. But the black loafers look so twattish with skirts and dresses.

I just wear trainers now, but our office is very casual and nobody wears heels at all.

Can you check out everyone else’s shoes when you start for inspiration??

Never sandals in a professional environment but flats are perfectly acceptable

I always wear doc martens shoes but they’re probably not the style you’re going for.

I have no idea, so following for inspiration. I was literally just attempting to find new work shoes online and I work in a very similar setting to you.
I don’t want clumpy shoes or ballet pumps, and sandals/ heels are out but I’ve no idea what will work besides loafers (which I’m not a massive fan of…)

I can get away with structured sandals in the summer but for autumn and winter - what then?

I mean I can wear any shoes in my office job, by then my CEO was in wearing trainers the other day. I’d probably be in smarter shoes if I was meeting external people but even then I could wear sandals. Why don’t you just scope out what other people wear? I definitely came in thinking I had to be smarter than I actually had to be.

I wear smart ballet flats. I have various colours. Look fine with skirts and dresses.

I have the same issue! Ballet pumps feel so flimsy to wear. And sandals a bit exposed. I'm trying out loafers, there's some nice styles in primark last time I looked. They're a bit more sturdy than ballet pumps but can still look dressy.

Flat loafers day to day with a couple pairs of heels in my drawer for when I have meetings. No pressure to wear heels but sometimes it makes me feel more put together.

I wear Docs with everything at work. Both boots and shoes. The boots are less smart with a dress obviously, but I feel smartish in the shoes.

I used to work in a non clinical role in a hospital. All staff had to wear closed toe shoes so smart sandals weren't acceptable. I usually wore smart trousers with loafers, or dresses with ballet pumps

My office is v casual so trainers, sandals or Chelsea boots, but otherwise ballet flats.

A small comfortable heel works well for me. A Chelsea boot or brogue would be good.
I've just bought the £29.59 Chelsea boots from M&S but you can get fancier ones.

I’m a teacher, and I wear black brogues, or various black or brown boots.

You can get some chunky loafers for wearing with trousers...can pull these off with a skirt as well if you're confident with that look. Or there are some less chunky loafers with tassels that are good with a skirt. Or get some confy heels that aren't too high. I love Office for work shoes x

Ankle boots go with everything

I think you only think loafers and other flats don't work because you're not used to wearing/seeing/styling them.

I've never worn heels due to an ankle injury as a teenager, general style and working on construction sites. For smart office shoes, I wear brogues and loafers, with trousers and dresses. I've been back in the office a year now though, and have mostly worn trainers and more casual shoes.

It's a brave new world of flats!

My feet are quite different sizes, so I struggle with anything slip on. I also hate heels as I’m far heavier than my feet would like. So I go for Clark’s brogues or Mary Janes if I need to look smart. I don’t think twice about if they “look twattish”. Remember, your view is different to everyone else’s, so I reckon the world thinks you look fine.

Sort of depends on your style. I've got a few pairs of chunky Mary Jane's that I swear by, they are heeled but the platform means they're still very comfortable for walking all day.
