Hi
I am 44 years old. Mother to one Dd..I am a size 8, 5'2" and currently have 34a/b Cup size
I'm considering going to a D Cup size.
I'm interested to hear from people's.expeiences. of having a breast augmentation.

In particular what was recovery like
What implants did you have
Do.you wish you'd gone larger/smaller/never had it done.
How do you field them now?

My appointment is late September with a view to having them done before Christmas.

Thanks everyone x

I think it's o weird we talk about women's bodies as what's in fashion.

We objecty ourselves way too much.

It's not about women's bodies, it's about the fashion of having cleavage on display - which is very much a thing of the past.

In the 90s it was fashionable, but these days it looks cheap.

It may come back, but I hope that it doesn't. That is what I call objectifying women's bodies.

I’ve had mine done many years ago and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I had 350cc overs.

The main thing to do is to make sure you have it done by a plastic surgeon and not a ‘cosmetic surgeon’.

Who are you to call other people’s choices ‘cheap’? It’s none of your business what era people dress from.

Anon778833 · 27/08/2022 12:02

They never look "natural" and you'll have scarring, so they'll always look better in underwear than naked. So just buy padded underwear!

I don’t have any scarring at all… and how do you know what looks better when you don’t have it yourself?

People can’t tell by looking. Mine look natural. They do feel different though.

MidnightMeltdown · 27/08/2022 12:19

@MondaysChild7

I'm saying that society views it as looking cheap. If you asked 100 random people on the street I'm fairly sure that is the response that you would get. Same response as wearing a super short mini skirt with your bum cheeks hanging out.

Of course if you want to be viewed as cheap then wear what you want, but you can't expect not to get judged.

Well personally I don’t show cleavage and never have. I don’t think it has anything to do with it. As an aside though, 90s fashion is back in again.

In any case, when people on MN say stuff about boob jobs like oh it looks horrible / chavvy etc. I always think it comes across like sour grapes. If women are happy with their bodies the way they are and don’t want surgery then good for you but if you feel the need to be bitchy about what other people choose to do with their own bodies then it kind of suggests sour grapes.

sekactao · 27/08/2022 12:27

The ones that don’t look natural don’t look natural. The ones that do, don’t get noticed.

Anon778833 · 27/08/2022 12:33

Exactly. Some people want a look that is really obvious. And some people don’t. In a world where both men and women are having all sorts of modifications these days, I’m not sure why people still have such a thing about breast augs specifically.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 27/08/2022 12:37

I'm the same age as you and have always had small boobs (although I am pear shaped, overweight - size 14 - but with small boobs) and I hated HATED my boobs for the longest time - but I've learnt to love them now and see the benefits of them. Have also learnt how to visually enhance them (e.g stick on chicken fillets for low back dresses or a good fitting bra).

It sounds to me like you are in proportion to your overall size.

I honestly wouldn't go under the knife for love nor money if it wasn't medically necessary - I don't have direct experience of boob jobs, but I did have a massive pulmonary embolism post surgery which nearly killed me. Surgery is a serious endeavour and, for me, I don't believe the benefit outweighs the risk in the case of boob jobs (unless, arguably, you're completely flat chested as per a PP).

Thelnebriati · 27/08/2022 12:38

Really? There are loads of posts that explain issues with breast implants. There's a specific illness called 'breast implant illness'.

MidnightMeltdown · 27/08/2022 12:39

@MondaysChild7

As a said in my original post, I don't require a boob job, if anything I would prefer them smaller.

Why on earth would I have 'sour grapes' about someone wanting to look like me? Your logic doesn't even make sense

I didn't say that having a boob job makes you look cheap, I said is there any point in getting surgery if you aren't going to have your tits on display all the time? That isn't the fashion anymore.

glassofgreen · 27/08/2022 12:41

I wouldn't. The risks, the side effects (numb nipples, implant related illness, the ongoing maintenance. They will succumb to gravity much more quickly than existing breast tissue, especially after 30, and you will need an uplift...

I know of one woman who has had them done in the last few years and she had them removed.

MidnightMeltdown · 27/08/2022 12:47

To be honest @MondaysChild7 it sounds very much like you're the one who's being touchy because you've had boob job, and so you are taking offence from anyone saying that it's is bad idea, and are responding with aggression.

Not everyone agrees with your choices - get over it

StealingYourWiFi · 27/08/2022 12:47

I work in plastic surgery. There’s a lot of posts on here saying they know someone who knows someone who has implants removed cause of this that and the other. We take implants out very very rarely and when we do it’s patient preference (usually post babies and they just fancy an uplift instead)

with regards to implant brands, you wouldn’t go to a surgeon and say ‘I want this brand’. Surgeons all use their own preferred implant brand for whatever reason.

HappyMackerel · 27/08/2022 12:50

No.

Acornacorn · 27/08/2022 09:04

I’m having implants later this year. Having spent my entire adult life with zero breasts I am really excited about having breasts for the first time. I’m not going big: expect I’ll just end up as a C cup.
I’m actually the most body confident I’ve ever been now I’m late 30s and had my kids. But I want to feel feminine. I think people with breasts find it hard to understand why I am taking on the risks and expenses.

You're unlikely to have 'zero' breasts, quite honestly.

RudsyFarmer · 27/08/2022 12:54

I would say absolutely not. I’ve spent the summer fighting with sweat under and inbetween my boobs. There is so much that can go wrong and they need replacing every ten years so you need to make sure you can afford that.

Ny advice would be to treat yourself to some lovely flattering lingerie instead.

glassofgreen · 27/08/2022 12:54

And you can't be very body confident if you're having surgery to change your body.

glassofgreen · 27/08/2022 12:55

That was to acornacorn

WinterDeWinter · 27/08/2022 12:59

None of this happens in a vacuum - you might think you just 'happen' to prefer the look of bigger boobs but it's all misogynist conditioning.

Unrelated, I literally cannot imagine how anyone could be happy with a foreign body squelching around in their breast tissue. It makes me want to gag. They look distended, like starving peoples bellies.

99victoria · 27/08/2022 13:02

I had mine done when I was 44. I'd got into serious running and weightlifting and was in amazing shape for the first time in 20 years after having my 3 children. I got down to a size 8 and my 34D were like saggy fried eggs - I had worked so hard to get the rest of my body in shape and my boobs were so ugly so I had 350cc implants put in. I didn't look especially different as I'd always had big boobs - lots of my friends and family didn't even notice.
That was 17 years ago and I haven't had any problems with them but I echo the PPs who say that as you get older they make you look frumpy and matronly. I'm 61 now and a size 12 and my whole boob area looks like a mono-boob! It was time for me to have a check-up consultation anyway and I saw a surgeon a couple of months ago. He suggested I have them removed and have an uplift so that I don't have to have any further surgery when I'm in my 70s. He thinks I'll be a B/C cup once the implants are removed - I haven't been that small since I was about 13 years old and I can't bloody wait! Already looking forward to buying my bras and bikinis at Asda instead of Bravissimo :)

chilliesandspices · 27/08/2022 13:04

You need to Google some before and afters. Mine were like the 8th one down on this website. They're not mine but this was the surgeon I used 11 years ago. www.lachirurgieesthetique.org/photos-avant-apres/protheses-mammaires

Dogstar78 · 27/08/2022 13:08

Go for it! I am the same age as you. I had mine done two years ago. Round 300cc under the muscle, insert under the boob. Best decision, should have done it years ago. I was a 32A/B, 5ft6, size 10 now 32DD. I just feel more womanly and confident and I now let my partner touch my boob! All my clothes just fit much nicer. I would like them a bit bigger, but I have such a small amount of breast tissue, they would look 'stuck on'.

It hurts after, if you've had kids you'll be fine, not unbearable. The three after of constant bra wearing/ sleeping on your back is irritating.

Just be 100% cast iron sure about your surgeon, the process, the aftercare etc.

I did it totally for me, only eagle eyed people spot it. I went through all the 'it's unnecessary surgery', 'could have spent it on the kids/ house' If you have the cash spare, I used redundancy money and got another job straight away, just do it.

Dogstar78 · 27/08/2022 13:09

My boobs.....I meant to say. I got them both done!
