Would you be happy with your partner sitting on other women's laps?

And dancing intimately with them at 4am (even if they didn't kiss)
I've read the articles about the Finnish PM. I think it's ridiculous that she's being criticised for going to a nightclub with friends, and enjoying herself. Boris and co have done far worse.
However I do feel a bit bad for her husband. She was caught dancing quite intimately with some hip hop singer and sitting on different men's laps.
How would you feel honestly if your partner did this?

’There appears to be a ‘morality clause’ for women in the public eye that doesn’t exist for male public figures.’

Yes. She’s dancing. It’s not an orgy FFS. That would be Silvio Berlusconi’s thing. She’s not having affairs or getting head in her place of work. That would be Boris Johnson’s thing.

It’s as though women politicians need to be in ‘Professional Mode’ all the time to be taken seriously. It also says some very unpleasant things about how we regard women who do go dancing in clubs.

LampLighter414 · 20/08/2022 11:49

I haven't heard of her or this story but googled her. She is gorgeous. Maybe her husband treats her badly or it’s become a bit of a sham marriage for political appearances only

So all those asking why she should be dignified were absolutely fine with how Boris comported himself while holding high public office then?

If all Boris had done was do a silly dance, I’d be fine with it. That’s not all he did, though, was it?

The issue with Boris is not his lack of ‘dignity’.

Am I the only one who finds going to a nightclub at 35 kind of cringe? I’m 32 and would feel way too old to be clubbing.

Yep, I'm younger than 35 and have yet to see an age limit imposed. Nightclubs are definitely not my cup of tea, but it's not like people hit their mid-30s then spend their nights at home, waiting to die. 🤨

jays · 20/08/2022 11:53

I wouldn’t disrespect my partner like that and would expect the same in return.

All of this.

I honestly wish she hadn’t catered to this nonsense and had just gone ‘I can party if I like, how I like, and it’s none of your business’. A male politician would not have done a drug test.

She’s one of the most phenomenally accomplished and successful young women in the world, utterly gorgeous and living her fabulous life, she shouldn’t need to cater to this misogynistic nonsense. It’s beneath her.

NovaDeltas · 20/08/2022 12:00

There's no evidence of drugs. 'Flour' is not Finnish drug slang. The line is being pushed by a pro-Putin right wing forum who originally leaked the videos. It's entirely political. Falling for lines from Russian troll farms.

And re the Finnish PM it's not dignified behaviour for a world leader.

She isn't breaking any laws, surely even a world leader is allowed a private life

That's sad. Maybe when you're 52 you'll wonder what you were thinking deciding 32 is 'too old' for things.

Boris broke the law there is a big difference, she was dancing at a night club

I would be unhappy. But given that he weighs 18st, the other women would be unhappier.

😂😂😂

greywinds · 20/08/2022 12:10

Isn't she beautiful? (Misses point). It's a private relationship thing nothing else of concern here.

Sparklypant · 20/08/2022 12:13

I don’t often feel compelled to defend Boris but to be fair to him he’s never been caught off his tits and dirty dancing when we was pm. He’s done arguably worse though in tenure, which is why he has lost his job but for me it’s not a race to the bottom or a case of who behaved worse, it’s unseemly for a prime minister and she also should lose her job as it shows a complete and utter lack of judgement.

Exactly this! The drugs accusation has been spun out of nowhere to smear her.

goshy · 20/08/2022 12:17

She's dancing & having fun, she may be drunk and being a little flirty. None of these things are illegal or mean she lacks judgement.

RhubarbMoon · 20/08/2022 12:19

It would depend on the sexual orientation of the people. I don't think there's anything wrong sitting on another man's lap if they are gay as there would never be any sexual inclination. Likewise dancing. I dance in a bit of a sexual way with my gay male friend even though I am in a relationship... Because I know he would never ever fancy me and doesn't find me attractive like that. I wouldn't do it with a straight guy where there is a risk of attraction to me and sexual feelings.

Boris lost his job for breaking the law. And he did numerous highly immoral things prior to that for which he received no sanction.

What should she lose her job for, exactly? ‘Dirty dancing’? You think that a prime minister should lose their job because they went out, got drunk and danced?

Sparklypant · 20/08/2022 12:19

I also think a lot of the responses defending her are because she’s female. If boris or any other male world leader was caught doing this those responses would be very different, as woman we should demand equality and this means one rule for all, if we get upset about a married bloke doing it then we should be upset about the female equivalent.

FlorettaB · 20/08/2022 12:22

He was caught getting a blow job in his office when he was Foreign Secretary (allegedly.) When the rest of the country was in lockdown and couldn’t meet up with friends and family by the rules he laid out, he had staff bringing bottles of wine hidden in suitcases into Downing Street and had regular parties.

She’s dancing.

goshy · 20/08/2022 12:22

If boris or any other male world leader was caught doing this those responses would be very different,

Boris has had numerous affairs & a love child but you think his flirty dancing would be the sore point?

You think if Boris of anyone male politician were filmed on a night out, dancing (as that’s all that she’s ‘done’), they would be subjected to drugs tests and people would be calling for their resignation? Really? On what basis? As there are multiple examples of hideous behaviour from male politicians all over Europe who have behaved immorally and nobody has attempted to take their jobs.

TheWayoftheLeaf · 20/08/2022 12:25

I wouldn't give a shit tbh. She went out, got a bit drunk, had a dance and a giggle and that's it.

She didn't shag or kiss anyone, didn't have an affair in office, hasn't had any love children or snorted coke off the toilet or prayed on her subordinates. That's all the men in parliament!

She had a fucking night out. Nobody ever shared videos of male politicians on a simple night out because it wouldn't cause controversy because it's only seen as unprofessional when a woman dances, drinks and has fun.
