To ask if you've ever found a long lasting baking tray

Please help - we go through so many non stick trays. Our 1 year old le creuset ones (bought in the false hope that expense = durability) are on their way out, despite never having seen a metal implement or the dishwasher as per instructions.

YABU give you hope now

YANBU yes, of course they exist, here's my recommendation..

Ah, thank you! My favourite cake tin is one of these and I wanted more but had no idea what brand they were as it was a gift. Fab.

Pyrex glass ones are amazing. I’ve had mine a couple of years now and they still look brand new

We have a couple of these, we like them because they are a big 43cm so you can get more chips on them, but check they fit into your oven, it is very snug in ours. Because they are black enamel you dont see the burnt bits they clean easier than non stick.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 16/08/2022 22:25

A PP voted for Mermaid... I bought a couple on the advice of MNetters a couple of years ago.

Please don't bother.

I have a couple of heavy duty vitreous enamel ones from Sainsburys that are ok but I'm not convinced that they'll last much longer.

I've got ordinary enamel and I just line them with grease proof or parchment if I think something might stick.

I don't think that there's a Holy Grail of roasting dishes.
Even my Pyrex sticks.

ChicCroissant · 16/08/2022 22:34

I also have the heavy ones from Sainsburys and they are really good and have lasted well. I bought a pack when they were on offer and got some more afterwards.

carefullycourageous · 16/08/2022 22:36

I use enamelled trays, always buy made in the UK ones but can't remember the make, have had them at least five years and as good as new - we use them for bread at least three times/week, plus other things too.

Never get non-stick, it is really unhealthy.

We have a set from ProCook which I reckon would protect me from a bullet 😁 and 2 years on don’t have a scratch on them.

LilianLenton · 16/08/2022 22:41

I bought a couple of Judge brand stainless steel baking trays from an outlet store about 14 years ago. The trays are still in perfectly good condition, albeit very discoloured with naturally acquired non-stick. We're not careful with them at all, use metal implements etc on them (not knives, but scrapers etc), I've used metal spoons or wire scrubbing pads to get any really stubborn bits off in the past... they're completely fine & look like they'll last another decade at least.

Longdistance · 16/08/2022 22:43

I can line them with foil. They last forever then.

Evidently! I am a Pyrex baking tray convert but would be prepared to try these, the cake tin is very very good.

IKEA stainless steel jobbies, going on 6 years and a quick dunk in the oven cleaners tank brings them up looking brand new.

Mine are stainless steel got them from a butchers shop when it closed down. Must have had them twenty years now.

Pyrex glass here too, doesn't rust or flake and does wash really well.

The Easziglide ones look just like the Scoville ones. I wonder if they are the same thing?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 16/08/2022 23:16

Scovillle

I’ve got through two Eaziglide trays. The second was sent by them as a replacement for the first which started to peel. They said it was because I put it in the dishwasher. I said that it says on the packet that they are dishwasher safe. They said that dishwasher safe doesn’t mean dishwasher proof. So they can get to fuck.

Marikali · 16/08/2022 23:19

i second ikea stainless steel. Very long lasting.

CornishTiger · 16/08/2022 23:22

Those of you saying Pyrex. Do you mean the “magic” ones. Been thought six in a few years. Not that great tbh. Do use dishwasher though

Tigofigo · 16/08/2022 23:25

AaronBurrSirr · 16/08/2022 21:45

Another vote for Scoville, they’re magic! Not expensive either, we ended up with the whole range of products.

Same - really impressed for the price. Have tried loads of brands and Scoville the best so far.
