To think people should hang their heads in shame

After Freya the walrus who had taken up residence in a Norwegian fjord has been euthanised because idiot people would not heed the warnings to stop getting so close to her which put them and her in danger . People were posing for photos , feeding her and throwing things at her .

Now she's been euthanised . So they have nothing to see .

👏👏👏 slow hand clap .

Yes, I know, @HesterShaw1 , but my point was that plenty of MNers love any opportunity of slagging off the UK and all who sail in her - except the oh so righteous ones like themselves, of course.

Sorry. I misunderstood Blush

i agree with you actually.

Sometimes we in the UK do alright

I'm absolutely fucking furious about this.

Sums up many human beings' attitudes to other animals. They like other creatures if they are entertaining or cute. If not, nah. Get rid.

Let's not forget that nice civilised Norway is still a whaling nation. People like to criticise the nasty foreign Japanese as a cruel race, and conveniently ignore that European nations kill more whales.

The absolute circus when orcas are in the Norwegian fjords is shameful as well. Boat after boat dumping idiot tourists into the water who are intent on having a spiritual experience with the killer whales (who are not called that for nothing). When an orca snaps and kills a tourist, what then? Will they "euthanase" them too?

this, this a fucking million times this!

Turns out this was the walrus that came to Northumberland. Then the Shetland islands . Then Denmark. Until she was killed in Norway. Outrageous.

Actually I've wondered if it really would be so bad if the human race died out .
Our selfishness and destruction doesn't leave anything to be desired.

We will one day. We’ve stopped evolving, we won’t adapt, we won’t change. We are like cockroaches, consuming everything, not happy unless we are torturing, killing, eating- way more than needed to survive. There will be a final war for resources which will wipe us out - God help those who survive and that’ll be the end - I hope.

Freya spent the summer here in Shetland last year. She was made welcome. People went to visit her, but kept to a safe distance. We were very sad to see her go.
What the Norwegians did to her is an utter crime. How dare they?!
I am disgusted that this beautiful creature had to die, because these stupid, stupid people couldn't leave her alone. And I just cannot understand why the authorities didn't so more to stop them.
I honestly believe that there's more to this. I'd imagine that the real reason has to do with insurance claims and damage to boats.
Whatever the reason, this was a horrendous display of inhumanity.
