Not really an AIBU (or it could be, depends how passionately you think I’m wrong)

But am I alone in thinking the word Rhythm used to be spelt ‘Rhythmn’??

I could honestly swear up was down that it used to have the n on the end

OP posts:
RedWingBoots · 11/08/2022 17:47

nope.

RiderOfTheBlue · 11/08/2022 17:47

Are you getting it confused with "hymn"?

Fairislefandango · 11/08/2022 17:50

Nope. It was never ever 'rhythmn'. It's not a case of people just thinking you're wrong. You are wrong. Sorry Grin. If you were right, I expect that somewhere in the vastness of the internet you would be able to find some proof...

DwightShrutesYFronts · 11/08/2022 17:51

Nope. Just you.

Thatswhyimacat · 11/08/2022 17:52

Rhythmn...ation?

PineForestsAndSunshine · 11/08/2022 17:53

Sorry, no!

Lots of words do end 'mn' which might explain the confusion?

DanielRicciardosSmile · 11/08/2022 17:54

No, sorry.

I mean, you might have spelt it with an "n" on the end, but you weren't correct.

Davros · 11/08/2022 17:55

I always think deceit should have a p in it (please Bob) like receipt

ParanoidGynodroid · 11/08/2022 17:57

"The Mandela Effect" 🙄

Back in the olden days, we used to say "I made a mistake".

sunsetsandsandybeaches · 11/08/2022 17:59

Are you sure you're not thinking of hymn?

horseymum · 11/08/2022 18:00

The mnemonic is Rhythm helps your two hips move ( no n!)

"The Mandela Effect" 🙄

Back in the olden days, we used to say "I made a mistake".

There’s always one that just wants to be unkind and/or condescending 🙄

Mandela effect and mistake are actually two different things

You are not the only one confused over the spelling OP. Looks like someone else asked the same question back in 2011 on this site.

There's no point asking about anything unusual on here, minds are so narrow they are measured in nm. Fwiw I don't have a strong memory of it being rhythmn. But I do have other Mandela effects I have strong feelings about Grin

TakeMeToYourLiar · 11/08/2022 18:02

I don’t believe in the Mandela effect.

but until I read your post and checked I would have sworn it was rhythmn

WhimsicalGubbins · 11/08/2022 18:03

Ah bugger! I can’t believe I’m alone in this 😂

Perhaps @Thatswhyimacat is right, I was just channeling Janet Jackson

I’m not alone!!

I’ve never fallen victim to it before either, but I very much believe in it now 😂

I think I would have spelt it with an n on the end too. Oops

quietnightmare · 11/08/2022 18:06

I've been Mandelaed too as It has an 'n' on the end in my perception

Taketheweather · 11/08/2022 18:06

It's a word that is commonly misspelled. I did a music degree and a significant portion of my fellow students couldn't spell it either.

The correct spelling has never changed though. You, and they, got it wrong.

Poppyseed14 · 11/08/2022 18:09

What about Skechers/Sketchers OP? Where do you stand on those?

ParanoidGynodroid · 11/08/2022 18:12

Pumperthepumper · 11/08/2022 18:03

That’s not what the Mandela Effect is.

It is. Making a mistake that some others have also made.

The Mandela Effect is ridiculous millennial arrogance: to think that the universe has conspired to wrong foot us, rather than accept we got something wrong.

ReneBumsWombats · 11/08/2022 18:13

The Mandelan Effect?
