Or am I just a victim of the Mandela affect?

Not really an AIBU (or it could be, depends how passionately you think I’m wrong)

But am I alone in thinking the word Rhythm used to be spelt ‘Rhythmn’??

I could honestly swear up was down that it used to have the n on the end

It is. Making a mistake that some others have also made.

The Mandela Effect is ridiculous millennial arrogance: to think that the universe has conspired to wrong foot us, rather than accept we got something wrong.

Oh good God, are we responsible for this too?

Jengnr · 11/08/2022 18:15

Rhythm Has Your Two Hips Moving is how I was taught it in the 80s.

NCNCNCN · 11/08/2022 18:20

The Mandala Effect is a collective false memory. So, if a large number of people agree with you, OP, then it could be considered as such.

Unfortunately, you’re just incorrect!

Sorry to burst your condescending bubble, but I’m not a millennial 😂
Bore off you grump

For some reason my year 7 English teacher made us recite the correct spelling over and over so I've never forgotten how to spell it.

Yeah, well, I am.

And I don't even like avocado!

BronzeSage · 11/08/2022 18:25

Wrong spelling

ouch321 · 11/08/2022 18:27

I think I was taught with an n at the end as well. Not 100% sure though.

Reminds me of 'a lot' and 'alot'.

Softplayhooray · 11/08/2022 18:28

The Mandela effect was a phrase coined by a slightly bonkers (if you ask me) white paranormal investigator who wrongly stated that Nelson Mandela was dead when he was still alive. That is so offensive on so many levels I think that we should retire the phrase.

That one hasn’t changed for me, but KitKat used to be Kit-Kat and Walkers swapped the green and blue colours for salt & vinegar/ cheese and onion.

No, it's that Walkers and Golden Wonder have different colours for cheese and onion and people got confused as Walkers took over as far dominant brand.

The mnemonic is Rhythm helps your two hips move ( no n!)

Love this, thank you!

NellieJean · 11/08/2022 18:40

It is hot today isn’t it.

WhimsicalGubbins · 11/08/2022 18:40

I think earlier responses must be right, I must have got a distant memory confused with ‘hymn’
Can’t say I’ve ever had much cause to write the word Rhythm, so it’s cropped up many years later.

No they didn't.

Golden Wonder used to be the dominant brand, then Walkers became more popular and that's where the confusion came in.

toomuchlaundry · 11/08/2022 18:42

I thought it used to have an ‘n’ in too

HinchcliffeandMurgatroyd · 11/08/2022 18:42

You are as bonkers as conkers, but you have a great username. 😄

Ihaveaquestionn · 11/08/2022 18:43

Yes I am the same as you OP!!! Always have to remind myself there’s no N

EinsteinaGogo · 11/08/2022 18:44

I used to think dilemma was spelt 'dilemna' OP.

I'm quite intelligent normally, honest!!

Dolly’s braces.

That is all.

I don't know wether that's ringing a bell now, also. When did Jim Carey become Jim Carrey.

He's always been Carrey, but you probably initially thought it was Carey because of the way it's pronounced.

You're wrong.

Also, the word you meant to use is effect, not affect.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/08/2022 19:00

@ReneBumsWombats. I honestly only remember it being spelt with one r.

In my reality or whatever you want call it The Lindenberg's baby boy was never found meaning the Case was unsolved. Apparently though his poor body was discovered sometime later. The perpetraters were caught and convicted in 1934
