If you'll look stunning in it wear it. I've seen people where dresses like that to a wedding and look amazing.

The green one linked above it gorgeous www.meshki.com.au/products/claire-satin-drape-back-maxi-dress-green

balalake · 09/08/2022 17:24

I like it and think it fine given the venue.

DirectionToPerfection · 09/08/2022 17:24

For a nightclub it's fine. Not for a wedding IMO.

JinglingHellsBells · 09/08/2022 17:25

@SliceOfCakeCupOfTea Did you really? I wonder if everyone felt like you do about them?

There are plenty of options between completely inappropriate and frumpy.

amyneedssleep · 09/08/2022 17:25

It's gorgeous and not at all inappropriate. It's a simple slip dress, nothing attention seeking about it, it's a very common style now for formal events. Perhaps take a pretty shawl if you're a little unsure, but I don't think you need one.

GreenManalishi · 09/08/2022 16:31

For a holiday, a party or a club yes, for a wedding no. It looks cheap and a bit attention grabby. Sorry!

Absolutely no one wears a floor length occasion dress to a club 🙄

category12 · 09/08/2022 17:27

Bit too much skin, I think. It'd be perfect for a beach wedding. Don't think it's suitable for any other kind.

RuthW · 09/08/2022 17:28

Suitable for beach wedding but not one here

AryaStarkWolf · 09/08/2022 17:33

Frankly, you'd be a talking point and an embarrassment to yourself and the happy couple.

You must keep some nasty company

WeeM · 09/08/2022 17:33

I think the back is fine but with the huge split as well maybe not so much, it’s a lovely dress though. Personally I’d try to find something equally lovely that you don’t have to stitch! but that’s cos I can’t sew probably!

Lolliepoppie · 09/08/2022 17:39

Gorgeous dress but not for a wedding IMO.

No, I keep company of lovely, lovely people who understand social conventions.
The OP DID ask- she knows it's not right.

Maybe look at the voting? Most people think it's not right.

SmokedGlass · 09/08/2022 17:39

I love it
I would wear it I was, taller, slimmer and younger 🤣
I thinks it’s lovely for the type of wedding you are attending

Sunnyqueen · 09/08/2022 17:41

Gorgeous but just needs a cover for the shoulders for the ceremony

It's exactly the sort of thing my DF's daughter would wear to a club - with tattoos up and down the length of her, her clumpy DMs and her brightly coloured hair. Definitely bra less, and I wouldn't want to hazard a guess about her knickers Grin

She's 26 not 66

mam0918 · 09/08/2022 17:47

Depends on the wedding, I wouldnt be offended if someone wore this to mine but they would have looked WAY over dressed as we had a wedding out in the country outdoors most people just wore standard summer dresses/clothes.

MadKittenWoman · 09/08/2022 17:49

It screams, “Look at meeeeee!” But it’s not about you.

Fine for a holiday or posh evening out but not a wedding. Far too much skin on show. You could do so much better and still look glamorous. Formal doesn’t mean frumpy.

IncompleteSenten · 09/08/2022 17:53

I wouldn't. I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing what other guests were thinking for a start. Every time anyone looked at me I'd feel very self conscious.

Lineala · 09/08/2022 17:56

Nope . . . inappropriate and probably piss off the bride.

LaMadameCholet · 09/08/2022 17:58

I think you would need to very very very toned and have great posture to pull it off, as those types of dresses look very different when moving than in a still image.

BunnyHopDance · 09/08/2022 17:59

YABU. It’s way too attention seeking.

dazeydazey · 09/08/2022 18:00

beautiful! get it.

Lunalae · 09/08/2022 18:03

It's a lovely colour but I think you'd need to have some colour in your skin to pull it off. It wouldn't look good on my very pale white skin, for example, and would probably clash with any orange tones that fake tan provides. However, if you've got the natural colouring to pull it off...

It's pretty skimpy.

I dunno. It looks alright on photo-lady on her beach, but I don't think it works sitting on a chilly pew in Dullstown-on-the-Wold.

TokyoTen · 09/08/2022 18:04

Personally I think it's a bit too much of a "statement" dress - it's really lovely and I'm sure you'll do it justice, but it is kind of attention grabbing (in my view). I'd go for something more like a tea dress rather than full length and backless.
