I don't think it's a spectacular piece of art (or as clever as it thinks it is) but I don't believe in stifling free speech, however distasteful it is. Edinburgh and other fringe environments are always full of crap like this - but it should be allowed.

The original CD came out in 2010 and a theatre company recently asked Kunt's permission to put it on at the Fringe. He's neither directing or producing. Personally, I've seen the show twice and it's hilarious. It is purely satirising the ridiculous family that carried out an even more ridiculous plot in the name of money and potential fame. Incidentally, it's was carried out by the mother and the boyfriend's uncle, not the actual boyfriend (despite a separate arrest for child porn on his pc, completely unconnected from the Shannon case). That would suggest the OP hasn't really done any research and is just enjoying being offended on a public forum.
Also, there is no one "playing" Shannon, she is only ever referenced, not seen.
There have been plenty of documentaries on TV and news articles over the years, including a completely innacurate Daily Mail article regarding the kidnapping just this week, I don't see anyone trying to cancel those outlets?
If it offends, don't watch. Fine. But don't start a witch hunt regarding something you haven't seen and have no real knowledge of.

It's centred on the messed up family and their motives. Shannon is only ever referenced. She does not appear in character or any other form. But if you'd bothered to do any research you'd know that.

Refreshing to see a response from someone who actually knows what they are talking about. I saw the preview twice before it went to the Fringe. Not changed massively from the original cd. And the cast are amazing. It in no way satires Shannon.

The Fringe is going great as far as I know. Most nights are selling out thanks to ridiculous publicity like this lol. These people don't seem to realise that getting outraged with no actual knowledge of what or why will just push people to go and watch it. I have no financial involvement, I'm just a fan of Kunt and like winding people up in the name of the cause ;-)
