I left a very abusive marriage a few months ago went through the council who offered me emergency accommodation which I accepted and was eventually offered permanent housing and some basic furniture etc for which I’m so grateful for,I have a little problem Though I have 5 children and tbh they haven’t got much as everything got left behind so I made a post on Facebook which I have now deleted asking if anyone can donate clothes or toys or bedding etc and sent a few photos so people could see I was genuine I received so much abuse calling me a scrounger a bad mom at tramp and beg etc I was so upset I’m a good mom I always put my kids first but I’m just going through hard times at the moment I’m quite a sensitive person and this has really upset me and I feel like shit tbh 😥aibu to be so upset I will post the picture of my sons room on face book Please no nasty comments 🙏

OP you had some really good advice on that thread and I'm sorry you're still having a bad time. There were links on there which I shan't repost but still would be very helpful if you were to contact them.

I have some toddler bedding if you need some. I have little girls if you need girls clothes I probably have size 1 1/2 - 2. Happy to post if you want it.

Well done for getting yourself and your children out of that situation.

I'm sorry people reacted like that to your post. There have been some great suggestions so far. Check your local council website, they may have grants for furniture or white goods. It could help to go towards the cost of getting you all set up. Also look at places like the British Heart Foundation.

Odd, given the same name, location, writing style, ages of the five children etc which seem to match up.

There is often a lot of household items and furniture/bedding, toys, electrical etc on Freecycle/Freegle. I think most area have these sites, everything free and I've never seen anything nasty on the sites near me - only ever on FB! Hope you get the things you need.

Did your request mention having 5 kids?

I think you have to be wary of openly posting on social media forums. Lots of people are under financial pressures at the moment and lots of people post things which aren't genuine and they are looking to make money off what is donated.

Do you work?? Some good employers have hardship funds / contact details for charities that can help etc
