Hi I had surgery on my stomach 3 weeks ago tomorrow all was going well until about 5 days ago when I had a red rash go across my stomach quickly following my yellow/orange/pink sometimes with red leaking

took hours to even speak to a gp and then they gave me two different types of antibiotics which I started on Monday .

i don’t know if it’s infection only or a infected pool of fluid under the skin. The leaking has increased.

no fever, some deep stomach pain on and off , no smell, Shouldn’t it stop leaking now the antibiotics are in my system ?

So glad you made it to the hospital. Hope you don't have to wait too much longer.

ShirleyPhallus · 04/08/2022 02:50

Hope you’re seen soon OP

Wheresthebeach · 04/08/2022 02:56

Glad you’re there. Considering some of the waiting times these days that’s not too bad

mummalog · 04/08/2022 03:04

Keep us updated

One of my girls had something that looked very similar after gallbladder surgery. It was an abscess. It had to be drained and cleaned at the ER, IV antibiotics were given, then after going home the hole it left had to be swabbed, cleaned out, and packed with gauze twice a day. She was fortunate she didn't have to have surgery.

Just go to A&E!

@Brighton5555 Neighbour’s security light is keeping me awake, so glad I checked in on you now. Hoping you can stick out the wait at A & E. I waited 8 hours two weeks ago during the day after getting there at 7am. Your idea about going at night is so much better. Keeping all crossed you get seen soon as that’s serious.

I’ve been here 5 hours now . Haven’t seen a doctor . There is one doctor working and one nurse taking bloods which I’ve had done and a swab. If I hadn’t had those I would have left.
my incisions hurt beyond believe and they have put a cannula in my arm.

I’ve asked how many in front and been told 3. I think by 7am I will be seen.

The last place you want to be when you are unwell is somewhere uncomfortable. I hope you get seen soon.

PragmaticWench · 04/08/2022 04:52

Hope you have been seen now OP. I'm a nurse and would have certainly encouraged you to attend had you not already been there.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 04/08/2022 06:18

Morning , having it cleaned and checked properly , and peace of mind will be worth the wait
you have my sympathies, I was in and and e a few weeks ago ( all ok )
hopefully you have been seen now and sorted

Blizzardbeach · 04/08/2022 06:19

I hope you're doing ok @Brighton5555 have you been seen yet?
My husband has had quite a few infections after having surgery on his arm, ine of which that meant he had to stay in hospital to get the infection down with IV antibiotics (he just got away without having another operation) and his infections have never looked quite as angry as yours.
I hope you're on the mend very soon.

ThelmaDinkley · 04/08/2022 07:02

Hope you’ve been seen OP and you’re getting it sorted x

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 04/08/2022 07:26

Hope you have been seen and are OK op. Absolutely the right decision to go to hospital.

ZealAndArdour · 04/08/2022 07:35

It looks like you’ve had a FDL TT, what has your plastic surgeon said?

But yes, any suspicion of a post-surgical abdominal collection needs to go to A&E.

Embarras83 · 04/08/2022 07:36

Poor you OP looks horrible. Hope you’re being seen now.

SweetSakura · 04/08/2022 07:44
