Vardy talking to the Sun

Highfivemum · 03/08/2022 16:39

Am I hearing this right that Becky Vardy has done and interview with the sun paper pleading her innocence? Whoever is this ladies PR they need to be sacked. Why would she want anything to do with the papers after all the allegations. ? Surely if innocent you would stay away from talking to them. AIBU in thinking she must be not thinking straight to think doing a Sun article will clear her name.

It's pretty funny, I doubt The Sun would be paying her serious money, she just wants the publicity....still.

No idea what her deal is, though I have met a number of habitual liers that have somehow created their own reality.

Read earlier she got £100.000 for that interview, that's a hell of a lot of papers.

Has The Sun ever commented on who they bought those stories from in the first place? Who's 'account' did they pay the money into? 🤔

Good question.

No publicity is bad publicity. Kerching.

PlanetNormal · 03/08/2022 20:23

If ever an utterly loathsome human being and an utterly loathsome newspaper deserve each other, it’s Becky Vardy & The Sun.

Good question.

The Sun don't have to say anything if they don't want, this is the reason they never went into Court. It would not be in their interest to disclose who it was as the stories would dry up so they say nothing.

balalake · 03/08/2022 20:27

Sympathy for her children, I would be upset if my mum was like that. Hope they don't get bullied at school when it starts in September.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 03/08/2022 20:31

I saw a clip of this interview. Her face is looking strange. Yikes, lay off the fillers. Becky.

Uwillbelucky · 03/08/2022 20:31

In the US there is a tried and tested formula for getting over scandals- show remorse, go to rehab, show repentance by being kind to random people/volunteering etc then do the obligatory talk show distancing your current self from your former self, expressing regret, explaining how much you’ve changed etc so the public can “forgive” you. Any celeb who has done the rehab/remorse thing pretty much gets forgiven. Rebekah really needs a better PR.

Any publicity for this fame hungry liar.

The Scum, is hardly the tabloid of truth.

Sleaze attracting sleaze.

Yep, she’s been on their payroll for years, leaking stories about footballers and their partners for cash.

VladmirsPoutine · 03/08/2022 20:44

It's just such a phenomenal own goal. I never cared too much for football and by extension the various drama among the wives and girlfriends but I have to say Colleen has gone up mightily in my estimations. A brilliant way to catch a rat.

No, they don't have to and won't reveal sources unless ordered to by a court. And there would need to be an overwhelming public interest for that to happen.

Jamie Vardy's parents are estranged from him I believe because of this marriage, is that right?

The Sun, though. Of all the red-tops.

chilliesandspices · 03/08/2022 20:51

I think her tv interview was worse than whatever she can get the papers to write. Whoever is advising her needs to be told that scrubbing off the makeup doesn't mean someone looks innocent. The few clips I've seen make her look woefully under prepared too. She's not a great actress and comes across as insincere. Why would you let her go on tv? At least a newspaper can hide that.

KindChick · 03/08/2022 21:10

I wonder why her husband isn’t saying to her to stop, draw a line or any close friends. She is making the fall out from the disastrous court case a whole lot worse. If you were Jamie Vardy would you not just say STOP now.

Suetwo · 03/08/2022 21:12

It wouldn't be possible for me to care less. The Scum newspaper is a national disgrace. It embarrasses me that that filthy rag, aimed at people with the reading age of an eight-year-old, is our top selling 'newspaper'.

Badgirlriri · 03/08/2022 21:13

Fluffymule · 03/08/2022 17:00

It feels somewhat odd that Mrs Vardy thinks the first thing she needs to do to try and rehabilitate her reputation - ruined by being found guilty of selling stories to The Sun in an eviscerating judgement at the High Court of Justice - is to give an exclusive story to The Sun.

That'll convince everyone Rebekah.

This. Mental!

Belledan1 · 03/08/2022 21:20

She looked like she has had a lot of botox or treatment in that interview. Never noticed before. She should just keep quiet now but as said above probably to pay her costs.

augustusglupe · 03/08/2022 21:29

I thought this today. I can't believe Jamie and her friends really think this is a good idea. Seeing as, I presume, he'll be paying the bulk of the 3 million quid.

NewHopeNow · 03/08/2022 21:31

I don't know how she thinks she can defend all those vile messages that were revealed.

Diverseopinions · 03/08/2022 21:37

She's obviously going to want to restore her reputation. Speaking out immediately is probably a good strategy - it's while people are thinking about her. People won't think that she has skulked away embarrassed. It's pretty much what Amber Heard has done. Rebekah has the advantage that her body language on the witness stand wasn't captured by the cameras. She doesn't have to try to compose herself differently. Another thing which Vary has in her favour, is that it was a nasty sting - especially the embarrassing denouement, when she was pregnant. And she did get nasty posts on social media about it. So she deserves sympathy for that, and doesn't want or deserve to be portrayed as inhuman.

I suppose The Sun has to do something to help her, as she's kept the rag in gossip, for years. Yes, she probably did leak up he story, and most people will think she destroyed evidence. I think how she fares career-wise in future, might depend on Colleen and whether she is magnaminous, and lets things lie, and says she doesn't bear a grudge, just that leaks were irritating and court case was obscene as a waste of money, and stressful for her too.

Plumtreebob · 03/08/2022 21:42

@Diverseopinions what reputation? Apart from being married to a footballer and selling Coleen’s stories what else is she known for? It’s hardly a fall from grace.

Viviennemary · 03/08/2022 21:43

Agree she wants money and attention and has poor lil ole me syndrome.
