How many slices of toast make up a portion?
I've just had 2 and an easy peeler for breakfast and I'm sat here wondering do I have 2 slices just because the toaster says so.
I suppose some people may have an egg or squashed avocado on a slice of toast, but if you order a full English you inevitably end up with 2. So it's not really about the quantity of additional bits.

Is it one of those things pushed by electric goods manufacturers such as eggs kept in the fridge when they are better off on the side. We have 2 slices because toasters come in 2 or 4 and we are secretly worried that the other side will catch fire if left toastless. Back in the day when we used the grill or even further back with a toasting fork and an open fire did we just have one.

So how many slices is a portion and is my toaster to blame for me being a fat bastard.

Please no competitive undereating though where a quarter slice on the 2nd sunday of the month will do you to Christmas.

I'm not really able to eat bread anymore (low carb diet for diabetes) so not sure if it's a plus or minus point for getting an air fryer?!?! I'm still debating which one to get!

Two is normal. Just like a sandwich is two slices of bread.

Is that a thing? Not being rude here but DH will not make an odd number of toast because he says you can't label the other one empty. I made odd numbers of toast for many years before him and have continued to do so throughout our 20+ years together. He still moans at me for leaving an empty side. I have always been a bit like 'WTF' at him but now I see someone else think the same!

Ive literally never thought about this and have between 1 and 3 slices of toast depending on appetite, type of bread, accompaniment etc.

My toaster is there to serve me, not control or influence me.

I don’t feel the need to use all 5 rings on my hob at the same time just because they’re there, same with the toaster.

Its not the same because all 5? (Most people have 4) rings on the hob don't all come on when you switch one. If they did you might feel pressure to use them 😆

Two slices of wholemeal, preferably "bread with bits in", one slice with butter and one with peanut butter, not too dark, toasted under the grill. If throwing caution to the winds, one slice with cinnamon sugar sprinkled over the butter. Every day is toast day.

I had two or three slices before I even owned a toaster. My toaster is a 4 slot toaster but I never have 4 slices at once.
