I find it so difficult to cry. Maybe do so once every three months. Others seem to cry almost daily and find it a relief.

What about you?

Very rarely. I can get a lump in my throat and feel close to tears but actual crying rarely I think the last time was about 5 years ago.

Maray1967 · 02/08/2022 18:53

Hardly ever- probably only at family funerals.

missymarrk · 02/08/2022 18:55

I cry at videos online of dogs being rescued and old people, also when I'm really hungover

missymarrk · 02/08/2022 18:55

Which is probably a few times a month.

Christ, I had tears at the live island final last night too. Other peoples happiness makes me weep

All the time! If I'm happy, sad, angry.... I tend to cry. I don't think it's a good thing, particularly crying when I'm angry as I think it detracts from what I'm trying to say..... I just cannot help it.

This is me too. It's so annoying, worse when I'm trying to explain why I'm angry or frustrated because I just look like an emotional lunatic.

RuthBrenner · 02/08/2022 19:06

Who are these people that are crying every day? I cry if I'm very sad or angry about something, it's not a planned event so I can't say 'oh I cry every other Thursday at 8.55 on the dot'.

Wam90 · 02/08/2022 19:16

I cry too much! I was nearly crying earlier when one of my patient’s with dementia asked for orange juice and absolutely beamed at me with such happiness when I bought some to her 🥺.

I'll shed tears at least once every couple of weeks, sad moments in TV/Movies/Videos just get me (especially if there are animals involved)

Proper ugly crying is quite rare and more out of frustration

Valentine259 · 02/08/2022 19:23

I cry at anything and everything! Watching films, even kids ones, adverts, You Tube videos with dogs being reunited with their owners, songs, sad stories, just about everything! I don't know how anyone can stop themselves crying - for me it's like a sneeze, once it's there ...! Have cried at work a few times (once for a whole day!) but not an excessive amount, which is surprising as we deal with quite distressing events. It's annoying but there's not much I can do about it. At least my friends, family and colleagues know what I'm like!

themosttiptoptopcat · 02/08/2022 19:28

Normally hardly ever, although I’m currently pregnant so it doesn’t take much for me to cry at the moment! 😆

ElvisWife · 02/08/2022 19:29

Since my son died 19 months ago, every single day, sometimes more than once, I often wonder if there will ever be a day that I won't cry.

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 02/08/2022 19:30

Sad tears very rarely - happy tears like the football or commonwealth games tears quite frequently!

So sorry xx

Pyewhacket · 02/08/2022 19:33

I find it difficult not to get upset when we lose a patient that we have worked so hard for. It's harrowing having to break it to the relatives. I try and have the senior staff do that as I've picked young/newly qualified nurses off the floor of the locker/rest room before now. It's a shitty world sometimes and my thoughts and prayers are with Archie Battersbee's parents and family. I'm not made of stone and I care. I wouldn't do this job otherwise.

GrandRapids · 02/08/2022 19:34

Very rarely. However I did have a good cry yesterday watching a documentary on iPlayer about a lorry driver that crashed into 2 cars on the A1 whilst faffing on his phone and killed 3 people.

The footage was harrowing.

I could have written this post.
I cry most days. Happy, sad, listening to music, missing people - l was told by my mother that l was ' a better actress than Bette Davis'. She really couldn't understand that l feel things deeply.
I saw her cry once in the 83 years she was alive. Not even when l had to tell her my dad had died. You weren't 'allowed' to show feelings. It was embarrassing to her.

MajorCarolDanvers · 02/08/2022 19:46

I 'cry' as in tears falling couple of times a week.

Today at work I had tears hearing a powerful and emotional presentation.

Sunday I had tears falling when the women won the football.

I 'cry' - sobbing and sad maybe once a year. Fortunately rarely experience things that make that happen.

Greebosmum · 02/08/2022 19:50

I cry most days probably. Happy, sad angry. If I am at work I hide I don't want people asking if I'm OK.

Weirdly when big stuff happens, I dont cry. I didn’t cry when Dad died, or at his funeral. I didn't cry when Mum died or at her funeral either.

My theory is that I can't cry at big stuff in case I never stop, so I let it out slowly in dribs and drabs

ManateeFair · 02/08/2022 19:51

I almost never cry proper full-on tears unless it’s something really, really upsetting, eg I cried about a year ago when my dad was severely mentally unwell and he was incredibly distressed and I didn’t know how I could help him. Stuff like that. I well up a little bit occasionally, but very rarely do proper, tears rolling down the face crying. I think I just don’t cry at everyday things, eg I wouldn’t cry about an argument or something.

Notanotherwindow · 02/08/2022 19:51

Maybe once a month or so. Either at night in silence or during a therapy session.

DeadbeatYoda · 02/08/2022 19:52

I well up all the time but I don't actually sit and cry. My voice just goes all high for a second. All sorts of things set me off; people singing together ( even football crowds singing 'who's the wanker in the black? at the referee), witnessing joyful or successful moments ( for anyone, not just people I know), any animal suffering / dying in films.
It's different to actually crying about something though.

PrezelwithMarmite · 02/08/2022 19:52

Used to be rarely. Only if i was ever so frustrated over something. Never over being upset. Occasionally at a funeral
But since my DN passed away. Often, because i miss her so much! I drive past any of the 3 of her old homes or cemetery and that's it i have tears rolling

GoldPig · 02/08/2022 19:53

Thanks to bullying at work a few years ago, the GP saw some tears and, to my humiliation, my colleagues did too (not the bullies though, the ones who were being nice to me).

Prior to that it was a rarity, despite having been an easy crier in my 20s it just sort of wore off in my 30s and 40s. The occasional leaked tear at a sad film, sporting achievements, cute children, or tragic stories (real or fiction) but not full on bawling.

I found it impossible to cry at some of the most upsetting times such as funerals or a difficult birth (one of DHs very few tearful occasions)

weegiemum · 02/08/2022 19:57

I used to cry lots. My younger brother died suddenly 5 months ago and I've not cried since, not even at his funeral. It's like a switch has been flicked, very weird.
