I find it so difficult to cry. Maybe do so once every three months. Others seem to cry almost daily and find it a relief.

What about you?

All the time! If I'm happy, sad, angry.... I tend to cry. I don't think it's a good thing, particularly crying when I'm angry as I think it detracts from what I'm trying to say..... I just cannot help it.

I'm the same & it annoys me too. I get very emotional at times I really wish I wouldn't. I've tried pressing my tongue to the roof of my moth - It Does Not Help.

it prevents me having conversations I need to have, want to have.

acuteanxiety · 02/08/2022 18:21

Every week

pimlicoanna · 02/08/2022 18:23

I think I've cried a couple of times since I've had kids and they are nearly 5. So not very often

RedRobyn2021 · 02/08/2022 18:24

I have never thought about this.

I tear up quite a lot, but maybe properly cry once a month.

knackeredagain · 02/08/2022 18:24

I hate crying. It makes me feel exhausted and fragile for the rest of the day, so I avoid it as much as I can. I cried a lot when I was married.
I cried this morning, completely unexpectedly and I feel crappy for it. It wouldn’t take much to set me off again now.

miserablecat · 02/08/2022 18:25

I cried this morning. At work. (Thankfully no one called!) There was a heartbreaking programme on the radio about an Australian couple who's daughter was killed in the London Bridge terror attack.

PlanetNormal · 02/08/2022 18:25

Hardly ever. I’m not a cryer. Never have been, never will be. I didn’t even cry when my grandparents died, which is probably a bit odd.

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 02/08/2022 18:19

Rarely, maybe once a year? I don't really see the point in crying - it doesn't do anything except make my nose run and give me a headache.

Well, for some of us it's not a bloody choice, it just starts!

SlowingDownAndDown · 02/08/2022 18:25

It’s mostly from anger and not a relief.

Frolicinameadow · 02/08/2022 18:29

I can’t cry around people, but recently I’ve been crying daily in the car on my own so at least twice a day, and sometimes at night in the shower.

Merryoldgoat · 02/08/2022 18:29

Very rarely - I think I’m dead inside. 😔

MarshaBradyo · 02/08/2022 18:32

I can be a bit of a sop I cried at women winning football, and HoL speeches re word mother

that type of thing

Fairislefandango · 02/08/2022 18:32

Almost never. Probably twice in about the last 3 or 4 years. I havd never found it a relief to cry as an adult. It just makes my eyes sore and gives me a headache (I virtually never get headaches otherwise)!

It's not that I try not to cry. I just don't feel the need!

FreezyFreezy · 02/08/2022 18:32

Hardly ever. I don't force myself to, either. I cry when I'm angry, especially if I'm in an argument, and it's annoying. I'm rarely angry though.

DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms · 02/08/2022 18:33

A couple of times a week due to loneliness tbh.

It’s mostly from anger and not a relief.

I cry from anger (and fear) a lot these days. It’s not a relief. I just end up with a headache. But circumstances are what they are in my life right now.

A few years ago, I rarely cried. Just the exceptional, sentimental stuff (DS’s first school leaving thing had me in floods, along with almost all the other mums). I’d like to get back to that situation really.

LeniGray · 02/08/2022 18:39

Rarely. Maybe once every 4-5 years. It’s not because I don’t get upset, I do, I’m just more likely to express it in other ways.

Thatboymum · 02/08/2022 18:39

As a minimum once or twice a week whether it’s happy or sad tears I’m a cryer

Stylishkidintheriot · 02/08/2022 18:42

Until I had my son, I probably cried quite a lot.

since then, maybe a few times a year. I cried at mother in laws funeral, and when we found out she had passed away. Before that I cried in dec 2020 when I found out that the schools were going to be closing again, and I wasn’t seeing my mum at christmas

steff13 · 02/08/2022 18:44

Oh gosh, almost every day. Yesterday I cried because my adult son moved out. On Saturday, I cried when I saw Marcel the Shell with Shoes on. I cried over a FB post from the local public library about how they had assisted a woman in completing a job application, and she came back and said she got the job that paid almost twice what her previous job had paid.

I cry over happy things, sad things, touching things. I do find it a relief when I'm angry or frustrated.

Yes this is me too and I hate it

entropynow · 02/08/2022 18:44

Hardly ever. Makes me feel worse and makes others feel awkward so no point.
Did a bit more when younger, I'm over it.

blebbleb · 02/08/2022 18:44

Loads! I've known my husband to cry once in the 11 years I've known him. We're all different I guess.

A good shower cry can be very cathartic.

IsAnybodyListening · 02/08/2022 18:50

Never in public, but at home easily a minimum of twice per day. A gorilla cuddling a man on YouTube set me off yesterday and I had a little snivvle. An emotive song will do it too.
