It's got zero to do with football or sport, please sing something else. John Barnes rap is preferable, really.

It's not just a terrible football song, it's a bloody awful song! Period.

Meh, it’s harmless enough. Better than Vindaloo.

Vindaloo is completely devoid of class and taste, and therefore a perfect football song! And I say that as a football fan 😁

mogsrus · 31/07/2022 22:43

yesssss please stop stop stop it’s mind numbing

bellabasset · 31/07/2022 22:45

I agree it has nothing to do with football but I love the song. Nessus Dorma always reminds me of changing planes at Dublin Airport and the World Cup

'We're gonna score one more than you...England!' Perfect! 😀

Tougherpolicies · 31/07/2022 22:48

Love a bit of Vindaloo!!

TheDogsMother · 31/07/2022 22:48

God I hate it. Jubilee, football, when will it stop ?

drpet49 · 31/07/2022 22:54

“The ‘SO GOOD! SO GOOD! SO GOOD!’ bit makes me cringe myself inside out.”

^Completely agree. I don’t mind the song but don’t see why football has taken it over

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 31/07/2022 22:54

If it’s good enough for Howard Wolowitz and Amy Farrah Fowler then it’s ok with me.

Love love love the scavenger vortex Caterina 🙂

Dasher789 · 31/07/2022 22:56

Footballs coming home seems more apt!

lightisnotwhite · 31/07/2022 23:01

It’s not football it rugby.
So I get proper confused when I hear it.

but yes it’s shit and makes no sense. also brown eyed girl can do one.

SavoirFlair · 31/07/2022 23:03

You’re all predictably miserable…

Davros · 31/07/2022 23:12

I'm sure it started at the cricket in 20:20 matches

Daisycrown · 31/07/2022 23:13

I like it because it brings back good memories of watching the darts at The Lakeside. However, I don't want to hear it attached to every sporting event.

BluebellsareBlue · 31/07/2022 23:14

Igotjelly · 31/07/2022 20:36

In terms of football its a Rangers FC song 😂

How so?

BluebellsareBlue · 31/07/2022 23:17

@Igotjelly I'm just asking as I've been a season ticket holder for 35 years and don't recall ever singing this? Only reference being Stevie G saying "don't worry about alfredo he's in the singing room singing sweet Caroline"

BluebellsareBlue · 31/07/2022 23:17

*dressing room

Afterfire · 31/07/2022 23:23

How miserable! Just let people have fun!

DarkShade · 31/07/2022 23:36

Isn't it because of the line "things have never been so good"?

Have as much fun as possible and sing your hearts out just not with this bloody awful song!

Craftgirlx · 31/07/2022 23:47

It’s very much a rangers song! Hence the controversial reaction to Rod singing it at the Jubilee. I didn’t watch the England game tonight so originally thought this whole post was about the Rangers version 🤣

MintyGreenDreams · 31/07/2022 23:52

I associate it with boxing

Florenz · 31/07/2022 23:56

What is wrong with the song?

"You'll never walk alone" was originally from a Rogers and Hammerstein musical, nothing to do with football, should football fans stop singing that?

FatOaf · 31/07/2022 23:58

People here are obviously unaware that Manchester City fans sing Blue Moon, West Ham United fans sing I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles (not Michael Jackson's bedtime song, by the way), that Crystal Palace fans sing Glad All Over on the rare occasions that they score, etc. "Football" songs rarely have anything to do with football.

The fact that fans of Newcastle United Football Club sing a song about travelling to a horse-race meeting will cause your brains to shut down completely.
