Making Sunday dinner today and DH nips to the shop to get something for dessert. A simple task you may think...

So he brings home a bag of goodies and first out is an apple pie, not bad.

What is next? Custard you may think? Cream? Even vanilla ice cream perhaps?

No... it's MINT flavoured ice cream.

Now I don't want to insult the weirdos anyone who enjoys mint ice-cream but with apple pie?! Mint and apple?

Ugh. AIBU to think DH has absolutely failed this assignment?

I should have known better tbh. His taste in sweet things is terrible. He's the type of guy if you send him to Tesco for a bar of chocolate he'll come back with some weird brand of a proper out there flavour or chocolate liquors. Just get me a bar of galaxy man!

I have got about 6 tins of custard in the cupboard though so can spare one if you need one! It's to go with my individual Christmas puddings. I'll be having that delightful combination later!

Not that I'm excusing his poor culinary choices but maybe he figured out, rightly, that apple pie is the most magnolia of all puddings (bar rice) and, as the blandest thing on the menu, needed punching up with a stronger accent flavour?

Im curious, do you find this inability to put two things together mentally translates into other areas of his life? When he gets dressed does the top half know what the bottom half is wearing, if get me?

Like I said, I'm not making excuses. I think he should sit in the corner and think about what he's done.

But maybe he thought they’d taste good together? Our family are straight down the middle, half ADORE mint ice cream the other half detest it. I think if you gave the ones that love it the apple pie too they’d thank you😂

Was it mint on its own? Or mint choc chip? If it’s just mint can you tell me where he got it please? I would bloody love it!

It may have been mint choc chip. I was too busy crying and screaming to pay much attention I'm afraid.

I think I can maybe see his (strange) logic - apples are green and so is mint. But uhm, that's all I've got. 😂

It's too hot for custard so ice-cream was a good idea...but mint??

My rule is if you are having ice cream with something it has to be vanilla. If on it's own then yep, flavoured ice cream is good.

Well I don’t like mint ice cream, but strangely could quite fancy it with apple pie, always love to use herbs with fruit.
Really hope I don’t get cancelled for this.

Both on their own - perfectly fine but together ugh.

if it was the turkish delight ice cream from Waitrone, I had high hopes, but it didn't live up to expectations. (forced myself to eat it, avoiding food waste)

I had a delicious blackcurrent sorbet yesterday - that would have gone well with apple pie.
It was in a cone, and I didn't realise until I got home that I had dark red smears over my face.

Turkish Delight ice cream never lives up to expectations. Too sweet and sickly.

I've commented on here before about my husband's bizarre obsession with gravy. It's manic.

His most recent was he whipped out the bisto for Gravalax Salmon because it was 'no different' than the chippy.

He repulses and terrifies me in equal measure.

I bloody love mint choc chip ice cream - I want it to blow my face off, like frozen Listerine.

I also love apple pie. Apple desserts are my absolute favourite.

I would phone the police if someone served me them in the same bowl.
