I was induced earlier today. I just had a CTG and my contractions are between 50-80, every two minutes. Midwife said they'll break my waters as soon as I'm on delivery suite, But, there's no space on the delivery suite so I can't have any pain relief except paracetamol and, even worse, DH has been sent home because he's not allowed to stay unless I'm on delivery suite...and yet, they've made an exception for the only other woman on the ward so her DH is with her.

In my last labour, I was induced and went from them saying the induction had failed and they'd try again the next day to 8cm dilated and contracting like a bitch in less than 3 hours - my pushing phase was only 17 minutes. I'm terrified DH will miss it. I wanted a damn epidural and I'm scared it'll be too late by the time there's space in delivery.

I'm so alone.

CaveMum · 23/07/2022 11:27

Congratulations. I was following your other thread about your mother. Please don’t let her ruin this lovely time for you, keep her at arms length until you feel ready.

Scottsy100 · 23/07/2022 17:58

Sorry but I’d be kicking right off, they can’t make an exception for one and not for anyone else

MrsWeezy · 23/07/2022 18:01

I'm so sorry you're alone, I dont understand that ruling atall, especially if the ward isn't busy and they've already made an exception for the other lady.
I hope you're not waiting too long. ❤️

SeaGlassShining · 23/07/2022 18:08

Congratulations 🥰

Skyelils · 23/07/2022 18:08

Awww love be brave thinking of you and holding your hand remotely

Queenbee77 · 23/07/2022 18:11

I would demand what I wanted. Or tell them I am going home with my husband and to send a midwife! Rediculous! Cause a nuisance and tell then you want it now!

Want what? I suspect OP is already at home having had her baby yesterday afternoon.

SpiderVersed · 23/07/2022 18:16

Congratulations on the safe delivery of Kezia.

I lobe gas and air too.

Miisty · 23/07/2022 18:19

So sorry for you keep shouting .I was a midwife and had a lady like you so frightened as she had been left alone in her previous labour held on to my hand tight till I delivered her .Literally one lady I had all she had to do was roll over in bed and deliver !!!!

Parpophone · 23/07/2022 18:22

@Miisty

Why does she need to keep shouting?

She has safely delivered her baby and is looking forward to going home.

Lollypip · 23/07/2022 18:22

I gave birth during lockdown on my own. Made it til 10 mins before he was born and then beeped for the midwives. DH didn't have time to get to the hospital. You can do this! P.s sometimes there is a reason for exceptions, like baby will be born with disability or other conditions etc

spiderlight · 23/07/2022 18:24

Congratulations!!

Miisty · 23/07/2022 18:25

Glad baby safely delivered but other women out there it applies to as well

restingbitchface30 · 23/07/2022 18:26

Congrats to you!! However I think you should seriously consider making a complaint reg your treatment. Or name and shame them here.

Pants0nFir3 · 23/07/2022 18:35

Oh sweet sweet lady! I was in exactly the same situation 13 years ago when having dd. I was left for hours whilst throwing up blood, kept walking to the midwife station only to be told get back and have a shower, meanwhile they're all using hospital computers surfing the net and Facebook! 10 hours later, I swear that shower holding handle thing was f ing swinging off! By the time I reached the real midwives I was given pain relief which enabled me to regain and focus. That said, deep breathing, knowing that each contraction is one step closer to you meeting your baby, which in turn does make you cope. I was induced and it's not as magical as it sounds, it's invasive indigent but I guess necessary. My sweet lady, please just hold on. Xxx

Pants0nFir3 · 23/07/2022 18:37

Northwick park hospital name and shame

KisstheTeapot14 · 23/07/2022 18:40

So,so glad it all ended well and you were all together with some lobely gas and air. And welcome to the world baby Kezia!

I think it was pretty shocking the way you were treated. That's no way for a woman to labour, and is opposite to everything we know about how to aid progression of labour - low stress, comfortable, low light, feeling secure and safe. And being properly monitored i.e. adequate staffing levels (I wasn't, and GP was not impressed when I told him to say the least). Not fair on families, not fair on midwives either. If you feel up to it I'd complain and let MP/PALS know.

Aside from all that, enjoy your baby to the fullest now she's safe and here.

Congratulations from me and all the MN aunties.
