Just being nosey really, I feel like most of the women on mumsnet are really big earners. I need help managing my money a bit better I think.

Nhs nurse, £24k 3 days a week.

PineConeHedgehog · 19/07/2022 20:32

Self employed carer/support worker - £20ph.
I work the hours I choose, could work full time if I wanted to (but I don’t) and only take work close to my home, so that I am not wasting any time travelling or on fuel.

Baker90 · 19/07/2022 20:32

HR Asst - public sector on just over 20k

£70-80k. Work in construction. People turn their noses up at construction as if it's for school drop-outs or misogynistic guys with bum cracks. I am in management and had to do a degree and chartership qualification for it. A lot of my colleagues went to Oxbridge. I'm not even high up in my field, some of my directors are on £250k. It's good money but long hours. I wish more young people were taught about construction careers at school instead of all pursuing marketing careers.

This!

Enjoying the construction firm i am working for.

Can i ask if you are female?

I absolutely believe women can have high salaries, I don’t think anyone here has said they can’t? But I also believe people online quite often make up bollocks. And if I had more money I’d probably be less inclined to howl into the void of Mumsnet

Boom! Couldn't have said it better myself

CooooCoooo · 19/07/2022 20:42

Wedding Photographer. I make 30-40k per year.

My own bookings bring in £2500 each though it's a lot of work especially the editing.

Around 17 of my bookings this year is associate work so shooting for other photographers. I make £800 per day for 10 hours of work (and no editing!).

Summertime2012 · 19/07/2022 20:44

My job, professor in a RG university, also required a number of degrees including of course a PhD. I earn 80k (my salary) plus around 20-30k (from consulting) pa. I used to love my job but I am getting increasingly concerned of the developments in the sector and am hoping to move to a different sector in the next year or so.

caringcarer · 19/07/2022 20:51

Foster Carer £30k tax free allowance but obviously I spend quite a bit on foster son. LL with portfolio of 8 btl houses £30 gross but pay tax on this.

Hrpuffnstuff1 · 19/07/2022 20:52

Depends on my motivation.🤣

Hrpuffnstuff1 · 19/07/2022 20:53

AuntMargo · 19/07/2022 17:21

Isn't that the same as being a parent ?? Disabled or non disabled child

I assume this is carer's allowance.

Looking after a disabled child can be extremely challenging physically and emotionally much more so than looking after an able bodied child.
Parents often have to have have respite.

So I would disagree it is not the same.

melmos · 19/07/2022 20:59

Here here @pixie5121

HeyMicky · 19/07/2022 21:04

I think the fact that we don't talk to friends and family about salaries makes this kind of thread all the more important.

It's often hard to level set. Even with a bit of assumed bullshit, there is value in seeing what people earn and in what industries. And greater value still in understating how women did it, in the face of misogyny, the glass ceiling and caring responsibilities.

CrapBag39 · 19/07/2022 21:05

Early Years trainer and assessor £34,000

Newmama29 · 19/07/2022 21:06

A nurse. Not enough.

Smudgel · 19/07/2022 21:07

Clinical Research exec in Pharma £175k plus 20% bonus potential. It's a great, flexible career path for women who are interesting in sciences. I still do all the school pick-ups at 3 and work from home.

Yodaisawally · 19/07/2022 21:13

67.5 plus car Allowance and bonus.

Marketing in prof services.

Why would I lie about it?

My salary is on the lower side as I was out for several years, only just getting up to where I should be.

Smudgel · 19/07/2022 21:13

Mumsnet is not representative of the population of the U.K. Ask about any private prep in london and you'll have loads of answers in a day. Ask about expat packages, US taxes, where to live in Dubai, housekeeper/nanny roles and again loads and loads of answers. You only have to read these threads to know there are loads of high earning women on this forum and the demographics absolutely do not represent the U.K.
