Tips to deal with a manager from hell

Queenie6655 · 18/07/2022 13:18

Hello all

Any tips please

She is the absolute worst

It's been 3 months now and it's to the point where she is a total bully

Take it and say nothing and just eventually leave

Or speak out?

So far I have done nothing wrong but hand one thing in late ( I warned her in advance it may be late)

So down today 😢😡😡😡

Sorry, I don't quite understand - are you employed, or are you a contractor?

You mention in an earlier post that you're freelance, in which case, you should up and off and send the firm an invoice for any work done.

Lindisfarne1 · 20/07/2022 01:04

How doi these people get and stay in these jobs ? I don't get it

RiojaRose · 20/07/2022 01:13

The time sheets thing is completely unacceptable. You need to speak to her boss. And the union, if you’re in one.

I had a bully boss for four years. Utterly draining. I kept a written record of everything. Eventually had a meeting with her and her boss. She denied everything and claimed I was mentally ill. But I had records and she didn’t. She’s no longer my boss, although we both still work there.

For most people leaving is the best solution. I’d have left if I could have found another suitable job in my area.

Good luck OP.

What does your contract say about the work you're doing for her?

It should be watertight and then she wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

How doi these people get and stay in these jobs ? I don't get it

Exactly !!!!

She loves being mean

And patronizing

Like I am a second class citizen

I need to get some legal advice as there is no way that she can be withholding my wages and delaying my timesheets being processed

I have only been there a short time
She expected me to know everything. From the second week without being given any guidance and no support from her

Then I get random phone calls
'Why are you so stuck we have done so much to help you' blah blah blah

Awful experience

I'm old enough to know this is all her shit
But if I was younger and had no experience she would break me into small pieces

OP posts:
Queenie6655 · 12/08/2022 15:03

Still no pay

She is unhappy about one part of a report
So around 10 per cent of my work she disliked and is refusing to sign my timesheets

Some people deserve to go to hell
This is beyond awful

Emailed her manager and no response

OP posts:
Discrimination1234 · 12/08/2022 15:05

Hold on. Not paying you is illegal. Speak to acas immediately and go above her head

Queenie6655 · 12/08/2022 15:07

But I'm freelance

Not got much choice

90 per cent of my work was more than ok

How can she think this is alright because she disagrees with one piece done back in June

I hate her
Don't want to speak to her
Think I may cut my loss and move on

Luckily got more work next week

Danikm151 · 12/08/2022 15:09

Send the company an invoice for the time spent there and a deadline to pay

Queenie6655 · 12/08/2022 15:12

I have done

She keeps saying she is not satisfied with part of it
So wants to speak to me
I don't want to speak to her she bullied me all my time there
So cute my loss and move on maybe??

OurChristmasMiracle · 12/08/2022 15:31

I would state that having worked for 2 months without receiving any pay you are unable to spend any more time in the project until pay has been received. Should pay continue to be withheld you will have no other option other than to seek legal advice.

Leafy3 · 12/08/2022 15:39

Just go right to the top with complaint and invoice if she won't send you details of her manager.

hulahooper2 · 12/08/2022 15:42

Speak to your manager and escalate to HR if needed , don’t put up with bullying. And document incidents

Gazelda · 12/08/2022 15:43

Can you really afford to let this go?

I think it's time to threaten legal
action.

Send an email to accounts payable to query why your invoices haven't been paid (if I'm understanding correctly). Copy manager and managers boss. Say that you've been trying to resolve this with manager since x date but that payment still isn't forthcoming so you feel it necessary to escalate. If a satisfactory resolution isn't agreed by 31 Aug, then you will be considering legal action.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 12/08/2022 16:17

You collect all her emails, texts and excuses and you send them, along with copies of your invoices, an explanation not your lack of training on their systems, to the registered CEO, owner whoever. You tell them that she is refusing to sign off the worksheets and you have had no response from anyone.

You want to be paid in full within 5 working days or, no matter how scary it feels, you Google Letter of Intent and then you raise a Money Claim Online.

She does this because she can. Maybe the company ethos supports it. But you don't have to accept it.

Nanny0gg · 12/08/2022 16:27

If you're freelance this may not be the last time you come across someone like this so you HAVE to learn how to deal with them

You do not roll over and just leave without pay.

Follow the wise advice you've been given and get your money!

Queenie6655 · 12/08/2022 16:30

These are great thanks

Why oh why am I scared of this bitch

I need to stand up for my self

She talks to me like I'm stupid silly cow

And I let her which is even worse

OP posts:
Queenie6655 · 12/08/2022 16:32

I get one piece of work was not done as she wanted
One

Out of ten
Nine were done by exceptionally well
You can't withhold my pay due to this

Maybe without a portion or ten per cent
What a c---

Thank you all as always 🙏🙏🙏

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/08/2022 17:38

So cute my loss and move on maybe??

I thought you already said you resigned a few weeks ago?

Hideous as this sounds, there may not be much to be done since you're freelance, but if you really are going I'd certainly tell management why. If it's as bad as you describe there's every chance she's done this with others, and since this could be costing the company money I'd expect them to want to know

And if they don't, more fool them

Queenie6655 · 12/08/2022 17:40

I have gone elsewhere

I mean move on as in take the loss as a lesson

She is not budging the one cow

And yes wouldn't surprise me if she has done it to others

It's a field where there's a shortage at the moment
We are paid a high rate per day for the work
She seemed to be against the idea of having to get me in initially but they needed me
Now the work is done and 90 per cent of it is above what they asked I get nada
Fcking cow 👎

OP posts:
Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/08/2022 17:46

It's a field where there's a shortage at the moment

Even more reason to let management know - did you get chance to speak to them before you left?

And yes, without doubt you made the right decision

Queenie6655 · 12/08/2022 17:51

No spoke to no one

She made me feel like a failure

'I can see this was a challenge for you
Shame you didn't do so well here '

Blah blah

Nonsense

She is annoyed that staff can come in and ask for large amounts for short periods of time

But she also doesn't realise that some staff only do This once or twice a year so DEPEND on being paid !!!!
Cow

Sorry all these typos

OP posts:
Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/08/2022 18:09

No spoke to no one

Shame in a way, but at least she now their problem and not yours any more - except for the pay issue of course
