Not true. We are 2 years in. Costs pennies

Don't you run it then?

One of the best selling ones has a power of 1300 Watts which is about 35p per hour at current rates.

None of my units are eyesores as it is all in keeping with the property.

10 of those units are in keeping with your property? What do you live in, a warehouse?

Haha!

Good for you OP, personally was fine keeping the house cool yesterday (in a red zone) by keeping windows and curtains shut, in bed i just took a spray bottle of water and was fine. To have 10 in this country where we don't often get super hot days seems crazy to me, but each to their own.

That's the peak draw when it's on absolute max mode and the room is very hot.
Once the room is pulled down to temperature they operate with much lower consumption. I've had mine left on 'low' fan speed all night recently & it draws 2-300w/h, with the outdoor unit basically silent.

I saw this thread title and assumed it was the rather weird Air Conditioning Troll

There is an official Air Conditioning Troll? 😆

Apparently so! At least 3 threads deleted last night. Fully expected this to be one but appears genuine 😂

A family member works in the air con industry and has it in every bedroom in their house. I'm so jealous right now. 😩😁

liveforsummer · 19/07/2022 10:16

Meh, I hate air con - and fans. I don't even like not having covered but am compromising by just having it over my feet. Ddog is still sleeping fully under 13.5 togs though. I feel she'd be incensed if I introduced an air con unit to why she believes is her bedroom 😆. P.a curious what an air con troll looks like? What do they do, what do they say? 😆

Haha! That’s so funny, such a weird topic to troll about but weirdly can imagine it does stir things up with the current weather.

Hopefully though they can cool down any heated debates they start! (I’ll see myself out….)

We’ve got a portable unit for our top (attic-level) rooms that are otherwise absolute ovens. Best money I’ve spent all year. When we renovate that floor I’m planning on putting in a proper installed system. Before then we are working on a renovation plan for the ground floor and I know I am being guided by feeling too hot today but I’m thinking of putting a unit in the downstairs kitchen/living area. I figure it might only be for a few days a year but then why not build in the ability to be comfortable.
