Neighbours putting bin on road to save parking space

We live in a residential Parking area.
Our next door but one neighbours have a car plus their 3 adult sons have cars. Also our next door but one neighbours brother who lives across the road has a cars but prefers to park outside our next-door but 1 neighbours house as he spends most of their time there.
Anyway they all park their cars on the street. When they are not home they save their space with a wheelie bin in the road when I move the bin off the road one or orher of the kids (not always the adult ones) comes out from nowhere and starts shouting and swearing at me. They do the same to our neighbours too. I've complained to the council and they said it isnt on and they would write to them bit not mention us by name. It seems to have had no affect.
As tomorrow will be 2 week since I rang the council I'm ringing again tomorrow. Am I being unreasonable to be fed up of it night after night and to want it to stop.

They sound like a whole family of twats.

I'm assuming it's on a first come first served basis? If so then you're gonna have to grin and bear it (although I get it must be so frustrating as they take more than there ‘fair share’ given the amount of cars they have) BUT they shouldn't be blocking the road. I'm sure this contravenes the highway code?

I would start recording everything

When they block with wheelie bin and how they retaliate. It's the retaliation which may need to escalate to the police.

I'd be helping that wheelie bin to disappear into another street.

God that would annoy me so much.
I’d be tempted to ask a friend they wouldn’t recognise to take their bin for a looong walk to several streets away.

Hide the bin

Ring the council. It's CF behaviour. Placing bins/items onto the road to reserve spaces is actually covered by part of the Road Traffic Act and people can be issued with a Fine and prosecuted by a Magistrates Court.

Report it. Many areas use the Love Clean Streets app, you can upload photos and remain anonymous if you wish.

They have cameras they'd know it was me

The thing is that's this always happens inside the evening. Weekends and weekday. In they Dent someone round during the week they'd find an empty street. Although I've taken photos

It sounds like you need to video the bins out there, short clips with date and time showing
If you can get videos of them putting it out that'd be great

Certainly video them shouting at you if you move them - out your phone on video and in a front pocket so camera is howling or get one of DCs to video from cat whilst you are parking it

Police would have a word but also so will council. They're being a pain to put their bins out in the road blocking highway , this will be an offence with a fine from council but also shouting at you when you move them is worrying and is worth calling police on

My boys (teenagers) would definitely not video it. They hate the confrontation that goes with me moving them and always tell me not to for that reason

Seems like you could get the police involved. I wouldn't usually say that. Mind you nowadays the police can't deal with robbery knife crime and rape so anti social behaviour doesn't stand a chance.

Surely the council can find them for using their gun like thid. Were only allowed to put our bins out on certain days between certain hours.

We have a local peso who I regularly see on his bike. Maybe he could have a word? He's very nice and used to give regular talks at my boys primary school. I'm not sure how to get hold of him though

Utter CFs, the lot of them, and aggressive with it. If you lived near me, I'd gladly come and move their bin and park in that spot every fucking day, until they got the message.

It's all very well if there are no spaces but it is not on to 'reserve' spaces with a bin.

Does it stop you being able to park your car or are you just getting a bee in your bonnet about it? Sometimes, life’s too short for petty squabbles.

OP, are we neighbours?? The houses opposite us all do this, wheelie bins and one house even has cones ready to put out. It’s quite a show watching one of them leave and move the car into the middle of the road (blocking it!) then moving bins or cones, then getting back in and leaving. Or if it’s a couple one does the bins, the other sits in the car. And the same in reverse when they get home. I’ve never confronted them (I don’t drive) but I’ve often wondered if it’s legal and why they think it’s okay. We live very near to a station and so commuters do park down the road, so I see why they get annoyed. But I was surprised it isn’t resident’s parking only due to how close to the station it is, apparently years ago the residents were given that option but didn’t want to pay for the parking passes or whatever it is. I always want to go and move the bins straight after they drive off just to see their faces when they get back!
