Fabs have it all: strawberry ice lolly, ice cream, chocolate and sprinkles!

Love Fab

Honestly can't someone just ask a light-hearted question about recommending ice cream without being told off or accused of being insincere 🙄

erinaceus · 17/07/2022 17:09

Buy some moulds and make your own, using squash. These were always my favourite as a kid, and have the advantage that you can eat more of them without it getting unhealthy. Plus they are v. cheap.

I really like the rowntrees watermelon ones - they're a bit like sorbet, not as hard and watery as a normal ice lolly.

Our Aldi was also very short on ice creams/lollies of any sort yesterday - they just had loads of the relatively expensive magnum type ones and ice cream cookie sandwiches which sounded very messy! We ended up getting Viennese which are like mini vienetta on sticks, which were actually very nice.

Oooo the watermelon ones sound even better if they’re a bit like sorbet xx

Rocket lollies.

Tesco do a sour version, I've never been a lolly fan but these are lovely! Not too gacky.
Otherwise, the orange juice ones are nice.
I hate fabs, DH loves them.

Lidl have some nice cherry cola twist lollies.

Twisters have a new version that are baby pink, blue and yellow twisted

KylieCharlene · 17/07/2022 17:13

RWhites Lemonade lollies can't be beaten imo.
My dc like nobbly bobbly and Tesco finest Pink Lemonade lollies.

CecilyP · 17/07/2022 17:14

I’m partial to a knobbly bobbly myself- similar to a fab but better. Rowntrees fruit pastilles are nice and fruity and not too big for kids.

UnalliterativeGeorge · 17/07/2022 17:16

We got sherbet fountain ones from Iceland and they're my new favourite. Added bonus the stick is liquorice so you can just eat it at the end! Slight chance of breaking a tooth though Grin

BritWifeInUSA · 17/07/2022 17:17

You need help buying ice lollies? Look at the prices and flavors and choose the nicest for what you can afford. How do you normally decide which brands to buy when you’re grocery shopping?

Number4224 · 17/07/2022 17:19

Iceland do a blackjack twister lolly and it’s so good.

georgarina · 17/07/2022 17:19

Iceland galaxy lollies

BakeOffRewatch · 17/07/2022 17:20

In terms of cost the best ones are push pops, our local shop has them in the “home baking” aisle along with wafer cones for ice cream. £1.50 for 20, freeze at home. They have different types and brands as well, like Rowntree. www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/276671560

Has anyone tried the Refresher push pops? I’ve refrained from buying as can’t share with baby! www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/310699977

Salome61 · 17/07/2022 17:31

My kids used to love the ice pops, not sure about the E's in them nowadays!

MistyGreenAndBlue · 17/07/2022 17:37

R whites lemonade lollies are lovely. Also homemade lemonade lollies tbf. Tango ice pops. The cherry is the best 🍧🍦

SquitMcJit · 17/07/2022 17:43

Yes to the Iceland sweet shop recommendations!

Tried those Sherbert Fountain ones yesterday - delicious. But I agree, watch your teeth on the licorice stick…

What an odd question. Just go to the shop and have a look

Asking for recommendations is odd?

Normal and sensible. Do you never read reviews before buying something?

It’s not like an ice cream shop, where they sometimes offer you a taste 🥄

I, for one, have learned a lot from this thread 🍡😋

ThatsMyJam · 17/07/2022 18:12

Cola Calippos!

Baboutheocelot · 17/07/2022 18:13

I had a del monte lemon ice lolly last week and it was so nice.

Sprig1 · 17/07/2022 18:18

Fruit pastille lollies, mini-magnums (standard ones are too big), fab or calippo.

Monoandsix · 17/07/2022 18:18

I tend to get the cheap ones from Asda or Iceland. Rocket Lollies, Splits and Bubblegum lollies. Five for a quid!

BiscoffSundae · 17/07/2022 18:18

The fruit pastilles ice lollies are the best. I find Iceland’s best for ice lollies they do a lot of exclusive ones that other shops don’t have

BooksAndHooks · 17/07/2022 18:20

Iceland have the best selection. Too many to choose.

Soubriquet · 17/07/2022 18:22

We have slush puppy ice poles. Yum
