That he should have bought me food too

We both wake up, I always get a coffee in the morning, he isn't really bothered by coffee but I ask him and he says he doesn't want one.

I ask to borrow his car, he says no because of the petrol. This annoyed me as it's not a long drive and I top up the petrol occasionally. I say I'm off to get it and going to the gym after. I couldn't go to the gym as the whole road/pavement was blocked off, so I go back home. I see him in his car eating food looking shifty - he had gone out to get food. I was upset that he hadn't offered to get me any or even just call to find out. He switches it on me and says that he hadn't eaten since lunch yesterday and I hadn't offered to feed him, and as I was getting a coffee I wouldn't be hungry (makes no sense), and also that his head was really hurting him so he just had to go out immediately and his final reason was because I was going to the gym, I wouldn't be hungry...

I always consider him with food, always make him meals and if I know he's coming will make sure he's fed. Last night we were both hungry but it was too late to make food so we had snacks.

Aibu to feel hurt he didn't think of me and think he's quite selfish?!

You both sound as bonkers as each other!!!

Borrow HIS car, I top is up OCCASSIONALLY! I'm assuming this is a very new relationship?

I don't understand if you took his car to the gym, but the road was blocked, so you drove back- how could he then be sitting in the car eating???

This!

Harridance · 16/07/2022 14:43

He is an arse for not letting you borrow his car, but on the other hand its better not to use cars for such short journeys

Inthesameboatatmo · 16/07/2022 14:44

He didn't want you to borrow the car because he already knew he wanted food. I bet his face was a picture when he was caught. I'd be pissed of op he doesn't sound very nice from everything else you've written. Walk away

CallOnMe · 16/07/2022 14:45

It doesn’t actually matter who was in the right or wrong as this relationship obviously doesn’t work.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 16/07/2022 14:45

He's tight and he didn't want you taking his car because he wanted to go out and get food without you

Does he pay his fair share of the food he eats at yours ?

LouisRenault · 16/07/2022 14:45

I walked to the coffee shop as he wouldn't let me borrow car

Why would you need to borrow the car if you can walk to the coffee shop?

I'm still struggling with the concept of going out to buy coffee when you wake up.

I don't think that's the odd thing in the scenario.

dh regularly pops out to Starbucks drive through on a weekend morning when he's up to get us a cuppa. I don't think it's that odd.

He wouldn't phone me to ask if I wanted a sausage roll or something if he thought I was off at the gym for the morning though.

Walkaround · 16/07/2022 14:46

Is he saying he isn’t hungry now, or would he happily have had another snack with you when you got home? Is he not allowed to eat while you are out of the house?

I know. No wonder these young people can't get mortgages Wink

This thread is more draining than the heat.....

pinkyredrose · 16/07/2022 14:49

You both sound highly strung. Do you live together?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/07/2022 14:50

Are you both 12? Sounds hard work.

Pinkbonbon · 16/07/2022 14:51

Surely the main issue is that the dont even seem to like eachother very much. Life's too short.

I agree and driving to get it when the coffee shop is in walking distance is just madness.

Surely even a teenager would have mastered the skill of making coffee, even an oat latte thingumabob.

spirit20 · 16/07/2022 15:00

Should he not eat when you're not at home?

girlmom21 · 16/07/2022 15:01

hungrybellynomnom · 16/07/2022 14:35

I enjoy my daily coffee shop bought oat latte - I tried the at home stuff and don't like it. I can afford it.

I don't drive - sold my car earlier this year.

Agreed it's so petty!!! It's just really annoyed me.

Did you selling your car benefit him financially or did he get any say?

If my DP sold his car then expected to use mine I'd say no as well.

This??

Exactly. You seem hard work.

TheAverageForumUser · 16/07/2022 15:02

How old are you? What’s all this “I fed him, he said I didn’t offer to feed him, I always feed him” is he a dog or a baby?

Cherrysoup · 16/07/2022 15:02

He thought you were going to the gym, of course he didn’t get you food. Weird.

SunshineAndFizz · 16/07/2022 15:03

Mean spirited.

God you’re right. Call up every restaurant and coffee shop and cafe in the world and shut them down - why would we need them since everyone can make their own coffee and food?

If the OP wants to go out and buy coffee she can!

Why are you trying to police what she's allowed to do?
