To think my neighbour is outright rude

We bought our house a year back and have never spoken or seen our neighbours on one side. Today we had some guests over and we were chatting on our patio furniture from about 7-9pm as it was too hot indoors. We have a detached house but neighbour was in her garden too and suddenly around 9pm started yelling about us being so loud and always shouting, never talking and being very annoying. When she said it we immediately said we apologise if you’re getting disturbed we’ll move inside in few minutes. She went on shouting and sprayed water with hose on our guests and my elderly parents. We were shocked and embarrassed in front of our guests. We never have guests outdoors except few summer weekends and are usually quite during the day, may have a noisy few hours daily before the 5year olds bedtime. We don’t drink or party in the garden/barbecue or play loud music ever. I’m so scarred by this crazy rude behaviour that I feel like moving far away from the lady. Am I being unreasonable in thinking I need to complain about her to local services?

Officer, I'd like to report some outright rudeness...

This is crazy behaviour rather than come and speak with you face to face , she decides to yell and spray water over everyone . Even if you was a little loud that’s no reason to do that , she should have knocked on your front door and spoken to you about it . I wouldn’t move because of a neighbour as you could move and literally move next door to a even worse neighbour . Your famous OP you made the sun paper

No mention of how old the aggressive neighbour is in the article ? Is she young, middle aged,or elderly, and does she live on her own ? Could she have some form of illness,or just a loner that wanted some attention..Could be an act of jealousy that you have a few visitors round at your house, and she wanted to attract attention that she was'nt invited, seeing as you have never made contact with her since you moved in next door..and may be a cry for help with her depression of being alone..just a thought imo...

In the thread the OP says she is an older lady, and her son came out and told her she shouldn't have sprayed them and she should apologise.

Did she fart as well? 🤣

CambsAlways · 23/11/2022 13:20

Is she elderly , does she have dementia! No excuse I know but people taking very loudly in numbers do affect someone with dementia! And turning the hose on you still makes me think it could be

CambsAlways · 23/11/2022 13:22

I also wouldn’t be contacting the police being sprayed with water,

Report vinegar ti-ts to the council. She needs an Asbo, you and your family are well within your rights to make as much noise as you like from 08:09 up to 23:00.

There's no need for that behaviour, she's unhinged.
