To expect underwear to actually cover everything!

Why is it that the gussets are so tiny that you've always got a flap hanging out?

Why are most knickers I've come across like this?

I'd like something that covers my neatly trimmed lady garden without having to suffer a front wedgie.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Is the style you are buying the problem?

High leg, bikini and full knickers are very different from the rest! 🤣

Where you get them from makes a difference too! Victoria secret bikini knickers are very different to M&S ones for example!

Handy guide attached! 🤣

John Lewis anyday range - loads of colours and designs and they haven’t scrimped on the gusset, life changing when I discovered them!

Tabbouleh · 09/07/2022 12:00

Also shrinking gussets make it tough for me to wear sanitary napkins. I know everyone wears tampons these days but they don't suit me.

Have you tried period pants? Mind blowing.

Tabbouleh · 09/07/2022 12:06

I haven't tried period pants actually. I should look into it. Thanks!

StressfulBedtimes · 09/07/2022 12:07

Omg yes! I was starting to think I was exceptionally … wide, down there!
As the sizes go up the waist band gets wider, the whole thing gets a bit longer but the actual width of gusset stays the same!! Why!?! 🤯

GelatoQueen · 09/07/2022 12:08

Yes had this issue with both Primark and Tokyo Laundry (TK maxx) absolute waste of money as cannot wear the damn pants as so uncomfortable. I'm back to M&S flexifit boy shorts

Gentleness · 09/07/2022 12:08

Cheap - Sainsbury's full briefs, cotton
Expensive - Molke full briefs, cotton, so soft and lovely

M&S are odd. Their shape is not my shape. I'm about to return some period pants where the front of the absorbent area stops so low that they'd be pointless. I can't understand who designed them and let them get produced.

KirstenBlest · 09/07/2022 12:11

The no-VPL ones usually hide between the cheeks, and I'd rather wear my VPL with pride.

Thongs usually look like a teeny weeny pair of knockers with a huge arse poking out, and there is still a VPL

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/07/2022 12:15

Sloggis ! They are cotton

or something like People Tree for organic cotton. There are a lot of sensible sustainable knicker brand about - stripe and stare have cheery patterns and are comfortable

Branleuse · 09/07/2022 12:19

Tabbouleh · 09/07/2022 11:22

Wirapa on Amazon. But they are v large and unsexy.

Agree. These are the best knickers ive ever worn. I have the high waist, the midis and the chub shorts and they are brilliant.
Theyre not unsexy either. Theyre just pants.
Half the problem is expecting underwear to always be dressing up sexy underwear and then being surprised when its not that comfy. I dont recall any men being concerned that their boxers and trunks are too practical and not sexy enough

Hatsoff5 · 09/07/2022 12:19

Harridance · 09/07/2022 11:26

I can't even be doing with thongs, why do people want a string up their arse rather than cover their cheeks?!

When you have a fat arse it's not flattering seeing a big fat knicker line... through your clothes. Thongs are just as comfortable as knickers anyway.

Shitscared123 · 09/07/2022 12:21

Never experienced this, and I mostly live in cheapo Primark undies.

This^ I saw them recommended on here and they are great.

I bought them to wear under leggings at the gym.

They're now worn daily.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 09/07/2022 12:24

Tabbouleh · 09/07/2022 11:33

But polyester!

They are but OP didn't specify cotton so I just gave a link for 'fit'. These are the best ones I've bought.

I have cotton knickers that are great but I get on with Sainsbury's, Asda's but not Sloggi. All cotton, but different bodies fit different underwear.

Strapless pants?! How do they even work? Blush

Totheweekend · 09/07/2022 12:26

i recently bought a multi pack of M&S thongs. There’s zero elastic so the gusset just cuts me in two. One flap (to use the OP’s parlance) on either side! Either I’m getting less containable as I ate or nobody actually wore these thongs before they were put on sale.

Totheweekend · 09/07/2022 12:26

Less containable as I AGE!

Squiff70 · 09/07/2022 12:26

I vowed never to buy myself multipack knickers until I was in my 80s. I spent an absolute fortune carefully picking out invidiual pairs in M&S, the pretty ones on the little hangers on 3 for 2 (also ridiculously overpiced). Got them home to find NONE of them fit properly - about £50 worth of pants. Most aren't even cotton and despite being my size (my real size and not the size I wish I was), the fit was HORRENDOUS on every single style.

Fuck that shit! Back to M&S for another look. Ended up with... SHOCK, HORROR... a multipack of black COTTON pants with a slight frill to the edging. £7 for five pairs. They fit PERFECTLY. The gussets are wide enough for sanitary pads etc too. I'm a convert. Even went back to the shop for another pack before they did what they normally do and either discontinue that style or change it for one which doesn't fit any human being on the face of the Earth.

lancaster · 09/07/2022 12:27

Innersy from amazon. Cover everything granny pants

This made me laugh!

Oh also second John Lewis. These days I alternate between those and Wirapa.

I just showed that to my partner and said "You know when you've been with me when I've been looking for new knickers, and I wander round for ages looking at different styles looking utterly baffled whilst half a dozen other women are in the same shop doing the exact same thing and looking equally baffled?". "Yeah?". "Well, THAT'S why!".

MilitantFaucet · 09/07/2022 12:30

Ultimo shorts are my favourite but I think May have been discontinued.

Honestly, it's a revelation. They keep my bum cheeks in and everything! Happy days! 😁

Boody bikini (online) are great. As a size guide, size 14/16 is their large and 12-14 is their medium
