Being "stalked" by Peri-Whisperer

I have a friend who has become a "therapist" in peri-menopause and has started holding weekend workshops to "equip women with tools for facing peri-menopause head on". I think it is hypnotherapy / thought control kind of stuff.

The thing is, even though I am 49, I don't have symptoms yet so I am OK actually for now. The first time she messaged me it was on FB as part of a group message so I just deleted.

Then, she messaged me directly and said "Hey hun just wondering if you will be joining us for peri-fest?" and forwarded on the original email. I replied that I am OK for now but will keep it in mind if issues arise.

The she started texting me directly, with the message "you are probably experiencing anxiety and fear around the upcoming peri-menopause - come and face it head on with us on xx weekend! I am here if you need!" I again replied "I am OK for now, thank you, please don't send me any more info about peri-fest. I will let you know if I need it".

She then messages my husband! "See if you can get FatCat to come to peri-fest! It will make her life (and yours!) much easier during the transition through the menopause. Even if she is not suffering now she definitely will be soon and it is best to get in front of it!"

I was so pissed off at this last one and have disengaged with her on FB and blocked her number on my phone. It is a shame I had to do this but it was getting too much. The problem is my DH has just started working with her DH. He thinks I should go to it not to talk about peri-menopause but to support my friend (by buying a ticket) who recently jacked in her stable career to become some kind of peri-whisperer.

But frankly I resent being fear mongered to, and basically stalked until I say yes. It feels like me to be some weird offshoot of a MLM by using friend network. My DH thinks I should just chill and go. The whole thought of the even makes me shudder. Plus I would just resent it all day. AIBU?

Me too, it really wasn't that big of a deal except for being a bit hot.

Your Dh thinks you should support her? How about you message all your contacts and ask for money for no good reason because they should be supporting you?! I’d go nuts if my DH did this, not that he would.

Just looked at the website - the only way to see the price is by signing up for "updates". I'm not going there, I'll never escape then! Plus also adds to the idea that it is some kind of scam.

I'm in perimenopause and my main symptom is absolute RAGE at cheeky fuckers like her. It's actually quite handy, as a former people pleaser.

I'd think she'd gone insane. Bloody cheek of her to try to get your husband involved. Block and delete but be prepared for her to say that your attitude smacks of the menopause.

Was just looking in my pantry for any peri-peri sauce to post a pic of here when DH asked me what I was doing. I told him I had made of post of the peri-fest issue here online - he told me it was a little mean but did say some of the responses were funny. He said there is no proper official Peri-Peri (he is the hot sauce master) but we have this one which he thought might be funnier in a menopause scenario. I said perhaps they could adopt is as official hot sauce of Peri-Fest?

This is what I think she was insinuating in the first message to me!

@ChampagneLassie I went with my really cynical dp for sound healing and the lady did this came over to us all individually as we laid on the floor and whispered in our ears speaking in tongues. I was obviously respectful but it was very difficult especially as I knew what dp would be thinking 😂😂😂.

Perhaps you could go and speak entirely in Nando’s language without saying that’s what you’re doing: “A trance for symptoms? Like when I’m feeling medium hot, hot or extra hot?” “Love a cheeky intriguing modalities” etc.

I'm another who sailed through both peri and meno - except for the usual hot flushes.

Send your DH to review the intriguing mods etc!

Loving this, having tests for peri menopause next week.
My main symptom is exhaustion, oh & when they put me on anti depressants I got hot flushes. Accidentally forgot to take them for 4 days & miraculously the flushes disappeared.
But to pay for a course - nah
Everyone’s experiences are different, so I’ll deal with any symptoms as they occur

You could always reply I'm worried about you. Is everything ok financially? I'm really not interested in this peri thing but I do love you and if you are in trouble please don't be embarrassed to say so. I'm not in a position to lend you money or to join this peri thing to give you money but I can help you with budgets and finding ways to save cash or even if you just need someone to confide in. Xxx
