To wear sandals to an interview?

I've damaged both my big toes running and they've come off, I cannot put my foot in a shoe without wincing.

Would this be absolutely horrendous and I can tell the story? Or do I wince and just put a shoe on?!

I can assure you I'm not attending an interview covering my arms and legs, it's not 1666. My forearms are not offensive.

Bare arms is what I said ( and what I know has been pointed out to others, not by me) not forearms!

LOL - rock up to this (PA did you
say?) interview with your bandaged toes on display and your with your flesh out. Let’s see where it gets you.

😂

@Applesonstairs couldn't think of anything worse, I don't own a pair of white trainers. Not for me!

Op it’ll be fine to explain. Handle it how you would in the job.

@Quincythequince Charming!

@Duttercup are you NHS? T shirt for a band 5 pa would not go down well in my trust.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious that poster did not know much about workwear norms in the NHS!

This stuff is very industry specific. Where I work now, people turn up in t-shirts and jeans. But all the NHS trusts I've worked for were far more formal than the large corporates I've worked for - a suit dress or blouse/skirt/trousers would be normal for an interview. Men still wear ties a fair bit at some trusts.

hamandpotato · 07/07/2022 16:56

@Quincythequince you're so weird, how am I a slob for asking a genuine question?

Fuck right off. Completely ruined a light hearted thread.

Perfectly acceptable interview clothing

Maireas · 07/07/2022 16:58

What kind of sandals did you have in mind?

You fuck right off.

If your temper and clothing Choi e is anything to go by, you’re definitely not hired.
Why ask for opinions if you don’t want them.

You got rude first btw! Good old ad hominems - classy.

AryaStarkWolf · 07/07/2022 16:59

Don't forget your skateboard @hamandpotato :p

But I’m a twat?

Ok, so you can swear and call me names.

But I do it back and all of a sudden 😱😱😱😱😱

Grow up

Applesonstairs · 07/07/2022 16:59

@Octomore yeah i think it does vary a bit but does seem to still be pretty formal in most NHS settings. I had an old fashioned secretarial boss for a bit who made it sound like I’d be cast out of the building forever with a sign on if I dared to bare my feet ever!!! Medical or injury is different though and op is covering injury. HmmGrin I think that her telling off stuck with me haha.

Er.... you did call them a twat!

hamandpotato · 07/07/2022 17:00

@Maireas I wasn't sure, I was just asking and then I'd go from there. I've found a lovely wide pair of shoes so usually they'd be too big but with the bandages they fit lovely!

OP posts:
Maireas · 07/07/2022 17:00

Well, @Quincythequince - where I work the dress code stipulates no trainers, so I don't think it would be acceptable to wear them to an interview!

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 07/07/2022 17:00

NHS and have conducted interviews.
smart sandals with a smart outfit, brief acknowledgment that you have an injury from a charity run so couldn’t put normal shoes on as you enter and say hello would be fine in my opinion.

Applesonstairs · 07/07/2022 17:01

@Quincythequince ShockBrew

Quincythequince · 07/07/2022 17:01

I might star another thread with two images- bandaged toes in sandals with nice clothes, and the above image, and ask people to vote on it.

Would be interesting to put it out to a wider audience. Matter of opinion of course, but that suited trainers lady (skateboard and all) looks interview smart for sure.

hamandpotato · 07/07/2022 17:01

@Octomore The way they've spoken throughout this thread was unneeded. It was a genuine question. No need for high horses.

Oh, that sounds like a solution!
Do they not rub a bit? Walk round the house a bit to check them out.
