To really want a tub of Lurpack

All this talk of Lurpack and I have never had it is making me want to try it now.

What one is best normal, spreadable light or unsalted?

It's £4 for 500g tub in Tesco and Sainsburys so going to treat myself

Normal, salted + massive crusty loaf.

Cookiedough123 · 06/07/2022 17:29

I have normal Lurpak. I dont really like other butter or marg. It's sooo tasty on a baguette

BlanketsBanned · 06/07/2022 17:29

I buy slightly salted but the spreadable is mixed with oil.

Daisypod · 06/07/2022 17:29

It's ok but not as good as real butter

girlfriend44 · 06/07/2022 17:30

Funny we were just talking about Lurpak. We love it here and won't buy anything else. It's really shot up in price though.

coffeecupsandfairylights · 06/07/2022 17:32

It's horrible 😬

Singleandproud · 06/07/2022 17:32

£7.50 in my local Morrisons, I won't be buying it for a while. Have it on a jacket potato with cheese.

Dancinginthedark01 · 06/07/2022 17:32

I don’t like it. I prefer Anchor although that’s expensive now so I use Tesco own brand.

MrsDThomas · 06/07/2022 17:33

Its not edible!

Dancinginthedark01 · 06/07/2022 17:33

It’s a bit cheesy.

Yep

UrsulaPandress · 06/07/2022 17:34

Nooo. Get thee to Aldi and buy their English salted butter in a blue wrapper. Still less than £2 and far far nicer.

MRex · 06/07/2022 17:34

Olive oil. They are all nice though.

CanaryShoulderedThorn · 06/07/2022 17:35

Hmm, it used to be good but I think they put too much oil in the spreadable one and it tastes greasy to me now.
I prefer Presedente French butter but even Aldi's Nordpak is better than Lurpak these days (IMO).

SlipperyLizard · 06/07/2022 17:36

Spreadable butter is horrible, can’t stand the stuff. Real butter all the way (and own brand is just as good as Lurpak/anchor!).

PattyMelt · 06/07/2022 17:37

We get Aldi Nordpak lightly salted Tastes just as nice and is a whole lot cheaper.

AuntieMarys · 06/07/2022 17:37

I only buy French butter

BruceWaynettaSlob · 06/07/2022 17:37

I didn't even know lurpack obsession was a thing until last week. I'm not going to rush out and try it.

FemmeNatal · 06/07/2022 17:38

Normal, salted. Kept in a butter dish in a cupboard, not in the fridge.

PlanetNormal · 06/07/2022 17:38

Salted, block Lurpak is the best. Much better than the stuff in the plastic tubs which is mixed with vegetable oil. If you want spreadable, Lidl’s own brand lookalike product is just as good and half the price.

minipie · 06/07/2022 17:38

President butter all the way. Unsalted (you can always add salt when it’s required)

FemmeNatal · 06/07/2022 17:38

AuntieMarys · 06/07/2022 17:37

I only buy French butter

Why’s that then?

I’m French and we buy only Lurpak.

BlanketsBanned · 06/07/2022 17:39

3.75 in waitrose, President is much nicer and any own brand french butter

FemmeNatal · 06/07/2022 17:40

Daisypod · 06/07/2022 17:29

It's ok but not as good as real butter

I don’t understand, what’s not “real” about it?

Davros · 06/07/2022 17:40

Daisypod · 06/07/2022 17:29

It's ok but not as good as real butter

Exactly. There's so much better butter easily available and from Britain
