To really want a tub of Lurpack

waheymouth · 06/07/2022 17:28

All this talk of Lurpack and I have never had it is making me want to try it now.

What one is best normal, spreadable light or unsalted?

It's £4 for 500g tub in Tesco and Sainsburys so going to treat myself

Even the Aldi version is getting more expensive every week, I'm sure it's close to £2:10 a tub now

LetMeInYourWindow · 06/07/2022 17:41

We get the spreadable. The block of butter is just too greasy. Don’t get lighter, you’ll regret it.

We used to get Aldi Norpak but it really isn’t a patch on Lurpak. Not sure what we will do when we finish this tub, it was only £5 for the big tub and I’m not paying £7.50 for the same when it’s finished.

Nooo. Get thee to Aldi and buy their English salted butter in a blue wrapper. Still less than £2 and far far nicer.

Do you keep it in the fridge? How do you spread it when it's so hard.

How can pure butter be greasier than butter mixed with oil?

ZaraSizeMedium · 06/07/2022 17:43

I do like Lurpak salted.

But you can’t beat a block of Kerrygold Pure Irish butter, and treat yourself to a nice butter dish to keep it in.

CuriousCatfish · 06/07/2022 17:43

I don't get the fuss about Lurpak. There's plenty of other butters that are nicer.

Pocolovo · 06/07/2022 17:44

President is much nicer, but the best of all is shirgar. It’s Welsh and utterly delicious.

dottiedodah · 06/07/2022 17:45

Irish all the way for us! Love kerry gold. Nothing can beat it on toasted wholemeal on its own!

Pocolovo · 06/07/2022 17:45

Kerry gold is gorgeous as well!

Lovelydovey · 06/07/2022 17:45

Just buy real butter - so much tastier!

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 06/07/2022 17:47

Unsalted is all kinds of wrong. I’m convinced most Brexit voters had tried unsalted butter on holiday and thought ‘No way are they bringing that shit over here’.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 06/07/2022 17:48

Lurpak is anaemic yuckiness. The Danes must have hypnotised you all.

Kerrygold for me.

MrsWooster · 06/07/2022 17:49

we just got a large tub out of the freezer. Bought at well under £6.50 and now worth over £9. Butter is my single most successful investment of all time.

Doorsdoyle · 06/07/2022 17:54

Why not Kerrygold? One of the best butters in the world.

fudfootedfannybangle · 06/07/2022 17:57

Haven’t any of you Lurpak people ever had butter?

it’s as nonsensical to me as someone twittering in about how they love coffee and mellow birds has gone up in price.

🤷‍♀️

jeffbezoz · 06/07/2022 17:57

Probs cheaper to buy your own cow, milk it and churn it!!!

Fink · 06/07/2022 18:02

I don't like Lurpak, but you can't trust me because I prefer Clover to real butter. Still prefer Anchor or Kerrygold to Lurpak though.

Whitney168 · 06/07/2022 18:04

Treat yourself to a block of M&S Cornish Gold instead.

justlonelystars · 06/07/2022 18:05

Kerrygold and lurpak are not good at all. President unsalted all the way for me!

stuntbubbles · 06/07/2022 18:05

Eurgh, it’s horrible. DP buys it and I’ve just rebelled and got some salted President.

UrsulaPandress · 06/07/2022 18:07

@waheymouth

No I don’t keep it in the fridge

In a Le Creuset butter dish.

Afterfire · 06/07/2022 18:07

Can’t stand Lurpack!

Clover all the way!

knittingaddict · 06/07/2022 18:08

President butter is what you should really be aiming for op. It's lovely.

FemmeNatal · 06/07/2022 17:40

I don’t understand, what’s not “real” about it?

It’s butter mixed with oil. Just buy real butter.

Sundayfootball19288228282 · 06/07/2022 18:09

Countrylife , far better than lurpak
