To think it is not a bloody disaster if I don't eat!

I've lost my appetite and have not eaten more than a couple of mouthfuls before feeling really full for about 3 days now. Today so far I've had half a cup of chair and a quarter slice of toast.

I am fat. Circus lady fat. I have zero willpower when it comes to food! I am not choosing to not eat! I just feel full. I challenge anyone to eat when they feel full! I think about eating and all I feel is "meh"

Yesterday my husband brought me chocolate ice cream and I didn't want it. That's how genuinely full I feel!

My husband is bugging the crap out of me and acting like I'm choosing to not eat.

Trust me, no fucker gets to my size if they can choose to not eat 🤣.

Aibu to say to him look, back off. I'm ok. I'll eat when I'm hungry.

I am diabetic and I am testing my blood sugar regularly. It's looking fine.

I'm just not hungry. Fatties can be not hungry. Honest! 🤣

He sounds like a Feeder. Bringing you ice cream is not worry about health. He is unsupportive and it does not sound like positive concern at all. YANBU

Johnnysgirl · 06/07/2022 13:52

Your diabetes will be an issue. How could it not?

BeyondPurpleTulips · 06/07/2022 13:52

I'm circus lady fat too, and saw the dr for constant loss of appetite, along with inability to lose weight.

Now I was advised to lose weight 🙄 but I was also referred urgently for blood tests and a scan. Which you need if this does become ongoing. Personally I'd leave it a few days first and see if it improves (plus covid test), I'd call on maybe Monday?

PrincessPark · 06/07/2022 13:55

No appetite here for 3 days either. Covid positive!

WimpoleHat · 06/07/2022 13:58

Obviously reiterating everyone else’s concerns about health issues, but assuming it’s not that….

I can sympathise. I get this all the time from people and it drives me mad. I am not a big eater. If I eat too much/when I don’t feel like it I feel really bloated and sluggish. I prefer not to eat that much during the day and then I’m usually up for a proper dinner. (This is not what many people like or advise, but it’s my preference!). And I get hassled all the time with friends etc if I don’t want to have anything to eat in a cafe/don’t want any breakfast or whatever. I constantly get “oh, but you’re not fat, you need to eat more.” And I’m not fat - but I am a perfectly healthy BMI, so it’s not like I’m super skinny either. I just hate people making a big deal of it. I don’t sit there saying, “Gosh - can you really eat all that bacon sandwich?” or whatever…..

madasawethen · 06/07/2022 14:03

If you haven't had a full physical in a while, it wouldn't hurt to have one.

You can lose appetite for any number of reasons.
Stress
Depression
Bug

I didn't have covid but had a bad cold a few weeks back and the first symptom was no appetite and feeling somewhat full and nauseated by food.

I had a feeder type DH at one time. If I said something about wanting to lose weight, he'd start bringing me home pies, cake, wanting to go out to dinner, etc.
I learned to not tell anyone lol.

Fat people are allowed to eat chocolate ice cream. HTH.

Op has diabetes. Getting her weight into a healthy range will help that. Her Husband is not being helpful to her or her health.

Anyone would think he doesn’t want you to lose weight op…

A chocolate ice cream after 3 days of not eating isn’t going to have any effect on that. Hth

I lost my appetite over Christmas, thought I had a virus as at the beginning as I also had a bit of a temperature, went on for 3 weeks with quite mild symptoms then really bad symptoms started. Turns out I had developed Graves’ disease and it was causing overactive thyroid. I had other symptoms such as overheating, tremors and very fast heart rate that I went to the GP about. The lack of eating I would have ignored (and did ignore) as I needed to lose weight. I wouldn’t worry too much, wait and see how you feel in a few days.

Lockeddownagain · 06/07/2022 14:18

A main symptom of an ovarian cyst and or ovarian cancer is feeling full quickly . Monitor it x

Passthecake30 · 06/07/2022 14:34

Are you constipated? That makes me feel less hungry.

I am so bored of the "have you tested for Covid" mentality of MN....... every single facking thread turns into a covid debate. It's like MN is stuck in March 2020 for ever more ..................

OP as a fellow diabetic, not eating isn't healthy. Your body needs fuel. Not eating for 3 days is really worrying, so make an appointment to see your GP. It's the unseen damage that diabetes does that causes issues. Your eyesight , nervous system and muscle mass is too important to risk anything happening to it.

Given that one of the known symptoms of COVID is loss of appetite, and given COVID is doing the rounds again, it’s irrelevant that you’re bored of the ‘Have you tested for COVID’ mentality. It’s a possible explanation, it’s dead easy to test for, and it’s one of the better diagnoses compared to some of the things it could be, so why wouldn’t you want to at least check?

HotDogKetchup · 06/07/2022 14:44

This is how i was with covid

onelittlefrog · 06/07/2022 14:52

I think it needs to not be dramatised to be honest and you both have a part in that.

You need to recognise your husband just cares for you and is concerned (which is perfectly reasonable if you normally have a good appetite and suddenly aren't eating).

He needs to recognise that you will probably be fine in a couple of days and leave you to it.

If you're not back to normal soon then you need to go to a GP, and accept that your husband is/ will be concerned about that.

EmmaH2022 · 06/07/2022 12:53

OP I am also fat
it is a blessed relief when I don't feel like eating for a few days

don't worry about it.

Seriously irresponsible post - but an outlier

In March 2020, loss of appetite

wasnt an acknowledged symptom of covid

it is now

Fat people are allowed to eat chocolate ice cream. HTH.

It’s not generally recommended though if you are severely obese.

What a pointless (and snarky) post. Why on earth did you bother?

BungleandGeorge · 06/07/2022 15:08

Actually minimal food intake for a few days can be hazardous whatever your size. Could you manage a complan shake or similar?

Theredjellybean · 06/07/2022 15:09

Posters saying rush to the doctor are scare mongering.
It's completely normal that our appetites fluctuate and it could be for all sorts of reasons.
If you are obese than not eating is not going to kill you... You have fuel in fat stores.
If you literally haven't eaten for a few weeks then it's worth trip to gp but few days... Embrace the weight loss and use it as time to reflect on how much food you actually need vs what you have been eating.

PaddingtonBearStareAgain · 06/07/2022 15:11

If OP goes to the Doctor saying she's lost her appetite the GP will say "try losing weight"

Or he may take it very seriously.

OP please go to see you GP so things can be ruled out.

I know only to well that it can mean something very serious.

Jenasaurus · 06/07/2022 15:13

Wildehorses · 06/07/2022 13:18

I hate bringing up the "c word" and unlikely this will apply to you, but a friend with ovarian cancer said her only symptoms were feeling full and unable to eat ... her treatment was successful and she is absolutely fine, 10 years later

My mum had this as a symptom of ovarian cancer - also felt constipated too.

Spanielservant · 06/07/2022 15:16

I had a sleeve in Turkey. Despite what the haters in MN who have never done it or been there say, best thing u ever did. Am size 10, run and feel good. My husband at the time was cross and said I was being boring with food. A year later he did it to. We both run together and wear lovely clothes and haven't looked back. I think maybe he doesn't want you to lose weight?

I think the whole “how dare a fat person even think about eating ice cream” a lot more snarky.

yes op is over weight. But she hasn’t eaten for 3 days. And as a diabetic her sugars are probably pretty low. When my diabetic husband hasn’t eaten for a while he gets biscuits and chocolate thrown at him.
