To think it is not a bloody disaster if I don't eat!

I've lost my appetite and have not eaten more than a couple of mouthfuls before feeling really full for about 3 days now. Today so far I've had half a cup of chair and a quarter slice of toast.

I am fat. Circus lady fat. I have zero willpower when it comes to food! I am not choosing to not eat! I just feel full. I challenge anyone to eat when they feel full! I think about eating and all I feel is "meh"

Yesterday my husband brought me chocolate ice cream and I didn't want it. That's how genuinely full I feel!

My husband is bugging the crap out of me and acting like I'm choosing to not eat.

Trust me, no fucker gets to my size if they can choose to not eat 🤣.

Aibu to say to him look, back off. I'm ok. I'll eat when I'm hungry.

I am diabetic and I am testing my blood sugar regularly. It's looking fine.

I'm just not hungry. Fatties can be not hungry. Honest! 🤣

I am very fat as in morbidly obese. Three days before testing positive for COVID I couldn't eat a thing. My appetite completely disappeared. Only later when obvious symptoms arrived did I test. My appetite arrived back after 5 days. Maybe try a test.

Dixiechickonhols · 06/07/2022 12:21

The Gp wouldn’t, extreme sudden loss of appetite isn’t normal. Only being able to force down a 1/4 of toast in 3 days isn’t normal. My grandma physically couldn’t eat when her bowel cancer progressed. I’d be concerned there was a blockage or something else going on.

User478 · 06/07/2022 12:17

Hahaha, you're definitely not fat!

If OP goes to the Doctor saying she's lost her appetite the GP will say "try losing weight"

🤣🤣
Oh how true.

If I went to the doctor with a splinter I'd be told to lose weight.

I'd also be told to not waste the doctor's time with a splinter, but mostly the fat thing.

If it resolves within a week, you most likely simply have a low grade bug. Quite possibly COVID.

If it goes on longer, it is worth getting checked out, as there are more worrying things that can manifest that way. But in the short term, if you're drinking and have spare calories stored, you're not going to come to any harm.

GrootUnforgiven · 06/07/2022 12:22

If he was worried about her health he would be encouraging her to go to the doctor about the sudden loss of appetite if it keeps up. That's often a symptom of bigger health problems. Or bringing her more nutritious food than chocolate ice cream or some vitamins.

He's not though. He's bugging the crap out of her for not eating.

The adverted on this thread about intermittent fasting though for weight loss though 🤦🏿‍♀️

IncompleteSenten · 06/07/2022 12:25

🤣 love the ad

We have Covid, not eating. Not eating for a week during flu or something is normal! There’s a reason our body tells us to stop eating! You’re ill and lost your appetite temporarily, it’ll come back and if it doesn’t then go see someone

FetchezLaVache · 06/07/2022 12:30

OP I love your writing style! You have made me properly chortle.

We also lost our appetites with Covid, including normally ravenous yet skinny pre-teen. Fortunately, his came back. Unfortunately, so did mine.

REP22 · 06/07/2022 12:31

Are you able to have a multivitamin tablet a day? One of those ones you dissolve in water to make an orangey drink? Then at least you are getting some nutrients in.

But please do get it checked out. No appetite for 3 days isn't normal. I am overweight myself but found myself with no appetite for no apparent reason a couple of years ago. Despite the extra weight I became very ill very quickly and ended up in hospital; it was Clostridium difficile (C. diff).

Please look after yourself and I hope you're feeling better soon. x

Eeksteek · 06/07/2022 12:32

Of course not. There is no reason why you should, unless it becomes long term or a problem in other ways. I had a horrible cold over the weekend, and felt like eating….nothing. So thats what I ate. I feel better now, and am eating again. It’s normal lost appetite when ill and and it

Fasting is actually a method of reversing type 2 diabetes. (I’m assuming you aren’t type one. Apologies if so)

Sunshineboo · 06/07/2022 12:35

I am very very very very very very fat. I've just come out of Covid and I've lost 9 kg in a week. Appetite went completely, I also have colitis so had Gastro symptoms but other than that missed any bad fevers et cetera that I normally think about with Covid.

Appetite still not what it was and my tastebuds seem to have changed. Maybe for me it was a good thing ha ha ha ha ha.

PS, I know what you mean about the doctors, I had appendicitis, followed by sepsis, and every single consultant has spoke to talk to me about losing weight, even when I was delirious with septis. I didn't get why, but sometimes I wish I could be seen as something other than just fat

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/07/2022 12:36

People don't usually lose their appetites out of the blue for no reason especially if you have a good appetite normally.

MsCactus · 06/07/2022 12:36

How much are you eating OP? Are you eating less than usual or have you eaten nothing at all (only water) for three days?

Sunshineboo · 06/07/2022 12:38

auto correct!

every single consultant i spoke to spoke to me about my weight...

i do understand why...

FusionChefGeoff · 06/07/2022 12:38

Just watch your electrolytes as they can get out of whack quite quickly and make you feel very rotten - electrolyte tabs would be wise

itsgettingweird · 06/07/2022 12:39

Well he can't be that concerned.

Well. It if his solution to an overweight diabetic is to present food every half and hour - and chocolate ice cream of all things.

I'd wait a few day and if you are still like this Friday am ask for emergency GP consultation. I'm not suggesting eating for the sake of it (there's plenty of healthy small things you can eat) but loss of appetite for a period of time could be something underlying and eventually it'll hit your blood sugars.

Nuisancepenguin · 06/07/2022 12:40

I’d be interested to see if you have covid. I’ve just tested as I’ve lost my appetite and have a sore throat too. Negative test but will try again in the morning.

MsCactus · 06/07/2022 12:41

I ask because my mum never ate more than a meal a day when I was growing up and was completely healthy - as long as you're getting enough you should be fine - and will just get slimmer.

However if you've eaten nothing at all but water for three days I'd be concerned. I've never had a good appetite naturally (have to be reminded to eat by my DP) but even I get hunger pangs after 24 hours or longer of not eating, and as you've always had a strong appetite I think the change could be a concern.

SummerPuddings · 06/07/2022 12:44

Ha! Yes don't eat a chair OP!
Maybe get yourself checked out at the doctors for a stomach infection if it's very unusual?
He sounds worried about you.

whynotwhatknot · 06/07/2022 12:46

st sounds worried to me im fat as in morbidly obese if i dont eat theres something wrong

Somethingneedstochange · 06/07/2022 12:46

If you're diabetic you need to eat so your blood sugar doesn't drop too low. Eating only a few mouthfuls even if overweight is not the right way to lose weight.

It's also an early symptom of covid days before you feel unwell. Can you still taste and smell? I'd get tested.

Jenasaurus · 06/07/2022 12:46

Im watching this thread with interest. I felt like this for the last month or so. I have sat down to eat and had couple of bites but couldn't manage more, I have given away chips and other food, and when looking at a menu it feels like choosing a meal when you have just had a massive Christmas dinner and feel bloated. I also had very painful heartburn.

I was diagnosed with diabetes last week and have drastically changed my diet since the diagnosis last Tuesday, I have given up smoking and changed to low fat, low sugar and low carb (I also have high cholesterol and a non alcoholic fatty liver which showed up on my blood results too but awaiting a scan of my liver)

I am 14 stone 4 and have a BMI of 35 (well got down this week to a BMI of 32 by diet alone and given up smoking.

I think the craving I had for strawberries and the not being able to face carbs before was my body telling me something was going on and needed checking.

My Glucose level was 19.4mml/mol (today its under 5) and I now feel hunger again so maybe it was my diet that made me feel full and my blood sugar etc.

However when I looked up the symptoms of always feeling full it can be other conditions too so please get it checked out.

Sending hugs from a fellow diabetic x

hangrylady · 06/07/2022 12:53

I was also going to suggest you may have covid. DH and me have it right now and he's lost his appetite. Unfortunately it's had the opposite effect on me and I'm just about to have my second lunch 😆

EmmaH2022 · 06/07/2022 12:53

OP I am also fat
it is a blessed relief when I don't feel like eating for a few days

don't worry about it.

EmilyBolton · 06/07/2022 12:55

IncompleteSenten · 06/07/2022 11:58

That's a symptom? No I haven't tested. I've got some kits, may as well rule it out.

Yep, was with me as well.
amd then I started the runs and vomiting. For a few days 🤢. And the temperature, cough, etc.
sorry…hopefully you’ll escape that if it does turn out to be covid.
