To think it is not a bloody disaster if I don't eat!

I've lost my appetite and have not eaten more than a couple of mouthfuls before feeling really full for about 3 days now. Today so far I've had half a cup of chair and a quarter slice of toast.

I am fat. Circus lady fat. I have zero willpower when it comes to food! I am not choosing to not eat! I just feel full. I challenge anyone to eat when they feel full! I think about eating and all I feel is "meh"

Yesterday my husband brought me chocolate ice cream and I didn't want it. That's how genuinely full I feel!

My husband is bugging the crap out of me and acting like I'm choosing to not eat.

Trust me, no fucker gets to my size if they can choose to not eat 🤣.

Aibu to say to him look, back off. I'm ok. I'll eat when I'm hungry.

I am diabetic and I am testing my blood sugar regularly. It's looking fine.

I'm just not hungry. Fatties can be not hungry. Honest! 🤣

The advice about listens to your body trying to tell you something is good advice. Diabetes is a serious condition I wouldn’t take any chances.

LuckySantangelo35 · 06/07/2022 13:01

Yeah he sounds annoying, you’ll eat when you’re ready

and if you are as overweight as you say why the fuck is he bringing you chocolate ice cream?!

RaspberryChouxBuns · 06/07/2022 13:04

I have one of these OP, if I skip a meal (mostly dinner because at the end of the day I just can't be arsed) my husband acts as if I'm about to take my last breath. It drives me absolutely insane.

seaUrchinOne · 06/07/2022 13:04

You may not be hungry now but your appetite will catch up with you, and the danger is you'll binge.

Have you tested for Covid? I've currently got it and have completely lost my appetite. I normally love my food. I haven't lost my sense of taste or smell, but I just can't summon up any interest in food.

Same here. I was eating smaller amounts for a couple of weeks afterwards.

Fat people are allowed to eat chocolate ice cream. HTH.

mam0918 · 06/07/2022 13:09

One of the only times I genuinely lost my appitite (other than meds that have that as a side effect) I went into multiple organ failure 6 hours later from septic shock.

Lost appitite is not exactly common and normal, its almost always a symptom of something.

Carrotmum · 06/07/2022 13:10

I had Covid last week and completely lost my appetite, have heard other people say the same. The only thing I could manage was fruit. I’m pretty hefty myself so I just saw it as a bonus, my DH first tried to encourage me to eat but then just bought me more fresh fruit.

closingloop · 06/07/2022 13:11

I eat all of the things all of the time and have a bmi starting with a 4, but covid knocked it off for a week or two, and I was ill for 5 days before testing positive (tests prior were negative).

user143677433 · 06/07/2022 13:13

I think worth doing a consult with the Dr for such sudden and pronounced loss of appetite.

But also, sounds like your DH might be a Feeder. Someone who actively tries to keep a fat person fat (I say this as a fattie myself). It’s a (usually subconscious) method of controlling others. Might just be something to be aware of for the future.

Badger1970 · 06/07/2022 13:17

I am so bored of the "have you tested for Covid" mentality of MN....... every single facking thread turns into a covid debate. It's like MN is stuck in March 2020 for ever more ..................

OP as a fellow diabetic, not eating isn't healthy. Your body needs fuel. Not eating for 3 days is really worrying, so make an appointment to see your GP. It's the unseen damage that diabetes does that causes issues. Your eyesight , nervous system and muscle mass is too important to risk anything happening to it.

Wildehorses · 06/07/2022 13:18

I hate bringing up the "c word" and unlikely this will apply to you, but a friend with ovarian cancer said her only symptoms were feeling full and unable to eat ... her treatment was successful and she is absolutely fine, 10 years later

Icanstillrecallourlastsummer · 06/07/2022 13:21

You should see a doctor. the drop in apppetite is one thing, but the description of feeling full after very little food is more worrying. My mother had the same and was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. That's a fairly rare outcome, but it's still something worth getting checked.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 06/07/2022 13:22

My DS was like this after testing positive for Covid and it's a normal symptom of any illness but as you're diabetic it's very important to keep an eye on blood sugars
If you're brewing an infection or feeling off, it's actually more likely for sugars to be high
LFT first, but be guided by your appetite and your blood sugars
Obviously if it lasts longer than a week or so if advise visit to GP, you may need a blood test

Sisisimone · 06/07/2022 13:23

When I had Covid I was absolutely ravenous, just could not stop eating. This was pre vaccinations and I got over it incredibly quickly. I later read a doctors advice that you should eat as much as you can when you have covid so it must help you recover, my body was definitely telling me it needed food, strangely tuna pasta

I think its OK to eat small amounts OP but a bit concerning if it's a very sudden symptom that you can't eat. Agree with pp that with diabetes it could be dangerous to just stop eating. Maybe speak to your GP if it continues and meanwhile just try to eat light foods. Your DH bringing you chocolate ice cream is a bit strange if you are overweight and diabetic though!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 06/07/2022 13:24

I wouldn't panic about ovarian or stomach cancer, as it's a very recent symptom!

Summerslam · 06/07/2022 13:30

Sudden loss of appetite can signify a health problem, as pp have said. However, as you are circus lady fat 😂I( think I love you for saying that) I'd be inclined to be grateful and use this as a spur to eat less going forward. If your blood sugar is within normal limits and you're not vomiting, it could just be a gastric bug. You must be eating enough if your BM isn't dropping.

If your appetite hasn't returned within the next few days, I would ask for professional medical advice. The last time I completely lost my appetite for days on end, was when I contracted the Delta variant of Covid. Have you done an LFT?

Proudboomer · 06/07/2022 13:31

I am a diabetic and would be very pissed off if someone was trying to get me to eat a chocolate ice cream.
Are you on medication for your diabetes as some of them can effect your appetite?
now that I am trying to control my blood sugar with diet I do eat a lot less as a high protein low carb diet keeps you feeling full for longer.

StrangeCondition · 06/07/2022 13:32

I've had a bad cold since I returned from holiday last week (Covid test clear), no appetite whatsoever but have been trying to eat little bits here and there. I'm not concerned, especially because I'm fat too and I've managed to lose a few pounds!

TheCatIsBack · 06/07/2022 13:34

I’m in agreement with PP who suggest getting in contact with the GP. There is a difference between not have an appetite and feeling full when you have barely eaten anything. The latter is a cause for concern that I don’t think you should ignore.

Spritelite · 06/07/2022 13:34

Weird, I’ve recently gone through the exact same thing!

I’m a proper fatty and can’t say no to food, constantly binge eat. I completely lost interest in food about three weeks ago, turned out I had a fever and hadn’t noticed😂 I’m fine now, had lots of negative covid tests but still not excited for food the way I used to be. This must be how ‘normal’ people feel haha!

SeemsSoUnfair · 06/07/2022 13:35

Normally I would not be too worried about not eating, but with your history of diabetes it is worth getting a Drs opinion if it continues as there are complications of diabetes that could be causing this that you wouldn't know by simply testing bloods sugars.

Silverswirl · 06/07/2022 13:35

IncompleteSenten · 06/07/2022 12:21

🤣🤣
Oh how true.

If I went to the doctor with a splinter I'd be told to lose weight.

I'd also be told to not waste the doctor's time with a splinter, but mostly the fat thing.

yes well, obese people moan about going to the doctor and being told to lose weight all the time but the stark fact of the matter is so many illnesses and health concerns appear in all areas of the body if you are obese so that’s of course the advice they will give.
However for something as serious as suddenly having no appetite they won’t. If it goes on for another few days you must see your GP as something could be seriously wrong

MiniPiccolo · 06/07/2022 13:35

Sudden loss of appetite due to 'feeling full' can be a serious concern OP. It's a primary symptom of ovarian cancer, for 1.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 06/07/2022 13:42

Listen to your body, not your husband.
i’ve been stressed last few days and barely ate, would feel sick if I did. It will pass and I will go back to “normal” whatever the “normal” is.
