AIBU here 😂. I've been given some birthday money for my 40th and really want to spend it on some house bits that are helpful to my everyday life. I really want to get my life and house into order. Was thinking about a robot vacuum etc. Any other ideas?

Really tempted by an air fryer. Tell me what you all do with it?

This has changed my life. I use it to cook oven chips, fish, sausages, burgers and I make toast in it too. Don’t use my oven any more and the air fryer is easy to clean so no more oven cleaning. Win win.

Fringes on rugs do get mauled

I also have a Eufy (who's actually called Robbie after the first Roomba) and he's great. Little handheld vacuum cleaner for the stairs also great.

Which one do you have? Sometimes 4 of us here.

Does your air purifier make the wall behind it black ?

One of my dogs would chase it, and the other one would be terrified

loved this and it gave me a giggle picturing the scenario.

BlackCountryWench2 · 05/07/2022 23:29

Here’s mine:
Drawer organisers
Tub under the sink to store cleaning products - it’s so much easier to pull out and get what you need, and also stops you over-buying as you can see instantly what you need
Shark vacuum cleaner
Cif Perfect Finish Limescale cleaner
Woodsilk furniture polish
Enamel baking trays and tins - come up cleaner than non-stick
Wine fridge

I love my stainless steel pegs. I live on a windy hill and they really keep the washing on the line. Also, no disposable plastic.

Also, microwave rice cooker is the best. No mess, no remembering to turn down the element.

@CurlyCabbage , it’s a Bissell Spinwave (model # 2052E). It cleans well, and doesn’t leave the floors soaking. I’ve also put cheapy green scouring pad on the pads it has for the tile floor in hallway/kitchen/bathroom, and that really cleaned the tiles well. Good for wood floors and tiled floors here.

For whoever asked about robovacs and size of house, my house is bloody small. Still worth having (I have 2 DC and 3 cats*).

@autumnboys and @Supersimkin2 , I def agree…my cats def enhance my life! XH seems to think I’ve turned into a crazy cat lady. I have…they’re awesome!

Thank you! I’ll be looking to buy one.

We have a mosquito net over our bed. It means we can sleep with the French doors open in summer without Dh getting bitten.

he’s also a useful hack as an insect repellent. They all go for him rather than me.

Mosquito net is a great idea.

DH thumped me on the head last night at 2am because there was a mosquito. “Only” with a pillow but it scared the shit out of me. Ffs.

Ice machine! Honestly use it every day. Only takes about 20 minutes to get enough ice, then it gets turned off again to save electricity.

ooooh PLEASE share which one!

i desperately want an ice maker - we can’t afford (not have the space) for a plumbed in fridge and this seems like a good compromise. I can’t bear ice cube bags and trays but I love really cold drinks.

This one! It was a present from my best friend, it's an Ice-Q.
It's come in very handy over the past few days.

Dammit, photo didn't post, sorry

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 10/07/2022 18:28

@AtomicBlondeRose second the pegs idea. I have....Lakeland pegs, which are things of great beauty, and don't keep moving round the metal hinge. They also have soft grip, so you don't get annoying peggy marks.
