AIBU here 😂. I've been given some birthday money for my 40th and really want to spend it on some house bits that are helpful to my everyday life. I really want to get my life and house into order. Was thinking about a robot vacuum etc. Any other ideas?

A microfibre hair turban/wrap, if you have long hair. Wrap your hair in it after washing and it'll start to dry while you get on with dressing, putting on makeup, getting children ready. Mine was a few quid from M&S and it really helps me be more efficient in the mornings.

Hadenoughofbloodycovid · 03/07/2022 15:22

Well I’ve got two labradors going spare if anyone wants to swap for a ninja air fryer🤔

Bunce1 · 03/07/2022 15:26

Silk pillow case

Cordless vacuum
You don't ever do the full house, just the spots you need to

Ginger kitten.

This. Although he is now a senile old boy and shouts all day long. But still love him.

ThatshallotBaby · 03/07/2022 15:38

I’ll take any labradors whatever their dimness.
Could swap lots of pegs and <drumroll> a peg bag Grin

MsOllie · 03/07/2022 15:39

Mini chopper. Great for onions, making salsa, hiding veg in sauces, everything really

Depending on your budget:
-robovac (I got mine on offer from Amazon)
-electric floor mop thingy (I’ve got wooden floors, and this was another Amazon deal).
-Aeropress coffee maker - makes lovely coffee, and it’s a lot cheaper/more environmentally friendly than the pod style coffee machines. I bought one for using at work, as it’s cheaper than Costa and means/my workmates get decent coffee :)
-instant pot (I’ve got an IP duo, it’s 6yrs old and still works brilliantly).
-sisal/hemp bags to put soap bars in. The kids and I have one each, with our chosen soap bar for when we shower.
-Thermomix (saves me a lot of time with cooking and food prep). However, it’s bloody expensive (I got mine on an interest free credit thing and only after weighing up how much I think I’d use it. My friend has an older model, which is going strong after over a decade and she uses it daily).

I use all the above things pretty much everyday and they save me a lot of time and faff. V handy as I’m on my own with 2 DC and I work FT.

PS Travel Johns are fab! I keep some in the car in case the kids/me need WC and no toilets about. I also take them camping, in case kids/me need a wee at night and its bucketing down with rain outside!

Eyebrow gel

GrimDamnFanjo · 03/07/2022 15:53

Heavy duty sellotape dispenser.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 03/07/2022 15:58

Electric blanket or throw.

Wall plug sockets and hat incorporate usb connectors. (My new to me game changer)

ReeseWitherfork · 03/07/2022 15:59

Clicked on the thread to say robot vacuum! Best £150 I’ve spent in recent years.

Timide · 03/07/2022 16:00

Vomit bags for my dd to use in the car. A life changer if you have kids who cannot travel
A slow cooker
Good knives
Good sharp grater
A little milk whisk from IKEA for cappuccino
Scales for luggage
Glass boxes for leftovers (easy to clean and no more fiddling with Tupperware)
Travel mug for coffee no more trips to "costa"

WarmFunKindStrong · 03/07/2022 16:01

Balls of wool and bamboo double pointed needles 🙈

coodawoodashooda · 03/07/2022 16:04

I'd like a robot vac but I have a very regular sized house. Would it still be worth it?

motogirl · 03/07/2022 16:06

@WonderingWanda

Brilliant! Completely agree

DogsAndBirds · 03/07/2022 16:07

Robot vacuum- literally goes on every day. God send with dogs.

Sock-a-pus from ikea. Two pegs on each leg, easy to pair up socks when hanging up and then collecting in. No more lost unpaired socks. 🧦

Sexnotgender · 03/07/2022 16:08

My little kitchenaid chopper is my favourite gadget. Costs about £50 and makes chopping lots of vegetables a piece of cake.

I have a big food processor but can never be faffed dragging it out the cupboard. This lives out all the time.

Dahliasrule · 03/07/2022 16:10

Coodawoodashooda, I have a robot vac and it is great for breakfast room, kitchen and hall with tiled floors. (Though do have to put chairs on breakfast table otherwise it can’t get under it.) Unfortunately, cannot use it in living/dining room as it will start humping the stressless style recliner we have and just gets stuck!

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 03/07/2022 16:11

I had a robot vacuum cleaner years ago but I stopped using it because the dust container was so small and I had to keep emptying it.

How often does everyone have to empty their cleaner?

A fridge just for drinks. I don’t necessarily mean alcoholic drinks but it could be. We have lots of visitors and neighbours who drop in spontaneously (live in the country) and it would be so great, especially in hot weather, to not have to have bottles of fizzy water or cans of beer or bottles of white wine clogging up the main fridge.
