Is seriously shady and I’m absolutely incredulous that LLL is encouraging this?

There's always so many complaints on here that transwomen aren't women, and whilst I agree to an extent

To what extent? Like a percentage? They're 68% not women?

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 29/06/2022 12:48

Will there ever be a rational discussion on mumsnet or will women on here continue to make us look as stupid as we're treated?

Hallyup89 · 29/06/2022 10:06

How is it shady or child abuse ffs?

A transman has the equipment to nourish the baby effectively if they have given birth. Breast is best and all that.

And heaven forbid a transwomen actually wants to do the thing a woman was designed to do. There's always so many complaints on here that transwomen aren't women, and whilst I agree to an extent, I cannot begrudge someone who's actually trying to live the life of a woman wanting to feed their baby that way.

Hmm

In the normal way. Most transwomen don't have genital reassignment surgery, which would render them infertile. Some take hormones, which would affect fertility, but not all do. In any case, sperm can be frozen before any surgery or drug therapy that would affect fertility.

Also worth pointing out most transwomen are sexually attracted to women, i.e. heterosexual.

lol, I know how babies are made, thank you! The point I was trying to indirectly make is that there must somehow be a process by which a man procures a baby from a woman for the purposes of it “breast feeding” from him, and how on earth would this not be flagged up by the midwife/health visitor/neonatal care providers/child services?

I believe it was you who said that lactation artificially induced in men was probably okay for babies? And with a Cosmopolitan article as reference? No?

I think there are quite a few heterosexual couples who kind of "swap" for the purposes of having a baby, i.e. the trans man gets pregnant and gives birth, then identifies as the father while the trans woman identifies as the mother.

They are obviously just a straight couple.

Freddy McConnell had artificial insemination to become pregnant.

Sorry what? You've been presented with factual information surrounding the practice and ethical considerations of this subject.

No one has made you look stupid!!

What the fuck is all this bullshit doing to our kids? Time for it to stop.

I havens read the full thread but it has extended to the Australians Breastfeeding Associated. Apology if someone has posted previously

@hangrylady - I completely agree! Who is looking out for the welfare and health of the babies and children’s or are they insignificant in comparison to mens feelings and desires. The whole thing is lunacy!
Nature has somewhat covered off the reproduction of humans, from conception, birth and feeding. Nothing needs to be altered or fixed.
I would love to see the research and funding diverted from this weird science and go into cancer which is something that actually impacts vast numbers of people!!

lifeturnsonadime · 29/06/2022 13:32

Setting aside the fact that feeding a baby via a male body is experimental why on earth should public money fund what is effectively validating a male?

At a time that the NHS is struggling to fund essential health service it is absolutely ridiculous to suggest that public money should be used to support what is a male fantasy. Absolutely grim that this fantasy should be indulged by anyone.

I think it's always worth going through the basics again. On this very thread we've seen confusion between transman and transwoman. Hardly surprising. These terms were designed to turn our grasp of reality upside down.

As for your other point, mother browbeaten into allowing this? We know many heterosexual relationships go off the rails when the woman gets pregnant. Some males can't bear it when everything isn't about them.

jeaux90 · 29/06/2022 15:10

@FOJN that's brilliant. I have hope when you get younger people start calling out this crazy shit too.

I've seen the full length version of that couples video, absolutely horrified.

The way he says "my baby", larping tosser.

I have seen/read about adoptive mothers using supplemental feeding systems to support lactation for adoptive babies - it's not easy though but it's definitely been done. The difference being that the female body is designed to breastfeed, so the amount of drugs required to encourage lactation in women is significantly lower than that required for male bodied people. So the drug is considered safe to use for women because of the lower dosage.

But no one is suggesting that this is a fetish or grim (that I’ve seen)?

CandyLeBonBon · 29/06/2022 18:43

No I know @SandieCollins I was replying to the pp who said she was an adoptive mum and would've liked to bf and said then said she thought this thread was being used to bash (presumably trans) people. I was pointing out that yes, that happens (in case she wasnt aware) but that it's different to a trans woman trying to lactate which is why people are talking the way they are about it.

SandieCollins · 29/06/2022 22:54

Yes that was me, and I’m making the point that even though the motivations may be entirely similar no one is assuming (I don’t think) that I’m grim or a fetishist.

No of course not.
