To think any man that wants to ‘breastfeed’…

Is seriously shady and I’m absolutely incredulous that LLL is encouraging this?

To think any man that wants to ‘breastfeed’…

@Hallyup89 if a regular ‘cis’ man tried to latch a baby and ‘breastfeed’ people would call him a pervert or worse.
study that it’s safe please? ‘Likely not harmful’ isn’t good enough - this is a baby’s food we are talking about not a new beauty treatment

I'm saying that yes, transwomen should be able to breastfeed. Male bodies have breast tissue. Why shouldn't someone who genuinely wants to be a woman be able to?

Because a woman is an adult human female, and humans can't change sex.

MeropeRiddle · 29/06/2022 10:47

Maybe it's not a fetish. Ever considered that?

And it's most likely not toxic.

"Most likely not toxic" is nowhere near good enough.

Formula milk manufacturers have to meet far higher safety standards than "most likely not toxic" before their products are approved for consumption by human infants.

CandyLeBonBon · 29/06/2022 10:48

Only two incidences of successfully induced lactation in transwomen. By successful, they mean 'managed to produce sone milk'. In the article they state that only 3-5 oz per day was possible and that cross sex hormones and androgen suppressors are not recommended as they pass into breast milk and has been linked to development of ambiguous genitalia in pregnancy. Additionally, the high doses of domperidone have raised issues due to the effects of QTc prolongation.

All in all not something I'd be willing to experiment with on babies, for the sake of someone being able to have the 'authentic female experience'

catandcoffee · 29/06/2022 10:49

@Hallyup89 ok 🙄

If you read what I've written I said that lactation can be stimulated quite safely and that medication and hormones are taken into account to make sure the milk is safe. For AFAB trans men. That doesn't need a source, it's common sense hun. If you ever look on the side of a pack of medication it'll say whether or not it's safe for people who are breastfeeding.

But if you need a source and cannot access google, here is one article- Dr Blanchard explains it quite simply here, in cosmopolitan.

Now can you provide a source in which the NHS state they're not sure AMAB trans women's breastmilk is not safe, as you stated earlier?

Yes, most neonatal doctors get their safety information from magazines. Got a problem with that, hun?

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 29/06/2022 10:50

If male bodied people can breast feed babies in a way that is safe and nourishing for the baby, why doesn’t this happen more generally?

MeropeRiddle · 29/06/2022 10:50

Likely not harmful? Actual breastfeeding mothers won’t take coffee, alcohol or even painkillers because it might harm their baby but this man's drug filled secretions are worth the risk because they validate a male's feelings? Fuck that.

Wouldloveanother · 29/06/2022 10:53

‘Genuinely wants to be a woman’ so this is about affirming them even by your admission!

Maybe DH could help with night feeds! 😅

I don't think anybody is disputing the fact that trans men can lactate (subject to the effect of any surgery etc).

eleanorwish · 29/06/2022 11:02

When an actual woman breastfeeds, the milk changes in composition according to baby's needs.
The production of colostrum at the beginning of breastfeeding, the production of fore milk and hind milk. Not to mention the higher fat content during a growth spurt.
Can a cocktail of drugs mimic that?

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 29/06/2022 11:02

I've read 2 blogs written by 'breastfeeding' transwomen. Both describe a sexual thrill. I have also read that the justification of that not being a concern is that women who breastfeed also find it sexual 🤔
It made my toes curl on occasion but never in a sexual way and I found it took time for me to see my breasts as sexual again after finishing breastfeeding
Similar to the claims that women get a sexual thrill from clothing so can also be AGP. A claim recently debunked by Blanchard

Fucking hell. But why am I not surprised? Let me guess the fetishist supporters will say it was a fake blog by GC women..!

Also the article I linked stated that breastfeeding was established at a satisfactory level FOR THE PATIENT.

Not the baby. You know, the person who is ACTUALLY supposed to benefit from breastfeeding.

Let that sink in for a bit.

That anyone would get a sexual thrill from breastfeeding is wrong on so many levels 😭😭 @WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere

ThreeFeetTall · 29/06/2022 11:14

Haven't read the whole thread but the LLL has said that for years, it's fucking nuts.
Also from same book- 'I'd like to express so my husband can bottle feed to get the same closeness to the baby/give me some sleep' LLL answer- no it doesn't work like that, baby need to learn that food only comes from one parent (I'm paraphrasing because I threw the book in the bin)
The book states you can take a few weeks to stimulate milk production even if you haven't given birth but also says don't you dare even miss one feed because then your supply will grind to a halt and you won't be able to breastfeed.

It's like the charters were written by different people!

Wouldloveanother · 29/06/2022 11:14

CounsellorTroi · 29/06/2022 11:12

It’s written by a doctor.

All the same; I don’t want it in my history. I’m sick of these attempts to sexualise female bodily processes. Anyone on here who has breastfed will tell you they got zero sexual thrill.
