For some reason Niles seems to be held in great affection - but why?

He was so weak-willed with Maris - for someone who claims to be an expert in human behaviour, it took him years and years to face up to the obvious.

The way he went around smelling Daphne's hair secretly - how creepy would that be?? And what kind of man dumps his fiancee on their wedding day? Not to mention, he simply can't handle pressure - rumour has it, he even choked during his spelling bee.

Daphne should have stayed with Donny.

Love them all. One of my favourites is the jingle episode. Ah but if less is more just imagine how much more more would be!

It winds me up that Daphne has a mancunian accent and her and her brothers are supposed to be from Manchester but the brothers have Dick Van Dyck style Cockney accents.

Well Richard E Grant still sounds pretty “Posh” to me and Robbie Coltrane (although he’s muttering unintelligibly) has a definite Scottish burr.

However - one of my favourite bits is when Niles and Lilith have slept together. Then Frasier turns up at the hotel room. Then the waiter brings more stuff and sees Frasier and Lilith the room. Then he comes back and sees Frasier and Niles!

I hated Bulldog! Ham Radio was just brilliant, I also loved the one near the end when Frasiar was trying to tell his family he was going to a better place (new city) and they thought he was dying. Hilarious! I watch it on a constant loop too.

I suppose to Americans a Scottish burr, posh English, cockney and dreadful mancurian are all a 'British accent'. The actors were probably desperate to do a cameo too.

Another great episode was Shrink Rap where Niles and Frasier are in analysis “I’m gonna find the nearest bar and drink until the rest of me is as numb as my ass”
”An all Caribbean education” “Well tally me banana”.

Frasier would never have got back with Lilith. She could see straight through him and he couldn't bear this trait in her or any other person..

All Frasier has is the impression he tries to give people rather than actual substance.

Star Mitzvah. Frasier thought he was blessing Frederick in Hebrew. It was Klingon.
Noel is brilliant in that episode!
Also Lilith can't bear that her boy is growing up, Daphne finds out that Niles slept with Lilith and Martin has that huge camera.
It's one of my favourites!

One of my favourites is when Frasier invites his new boss home as a date for Daphne but the boss thinks he is actually dating Frasier. Hilarious.

And the one where they’re trying to write a book about sibling relationships and are holed up in a hotel room trying to write the first chapter. It all culminates with Frasier with his hands around Niles’s neck shouting “you stole my mommy!”

Niles altho a snob changes. His love for Daphne never wavers. He is the better psychiatrist. Once he gets away from Maris his life improves.

It was a comedy series, not a documentary - and must be at least 20 years old.
Spoiler alert - some things in the show may have been for comedic effect.

Very little makes me smile as much as Niles' exclamations of "Guy!" in that episode.

Also the one where Frasier is dating a supermodel phd student but nobody believes him . She wants to keep it quiet. They start to fear he is delusional, especially when they follow him to the restaurant where he is having lunch with her only she has just had to rush out and all they see is him sitting at a table alone. Then she finally comes back to the apartment when everyone else is out. They go to bed and afterwards while she is asleep Frasier stealthily tries to take a photo of them in bed. She wakes up and storms out passing Marty, Daphne and Niles on the way.

I do think Niles is nicer and less snobbish and pretentious than Frasier. Frasier would never dream of dating someone like Daphne.

My favourite is the Niles proposal scene when he keeps changing his mind and Frasier is smuggling ‘extras’ in and out behind the sofa.

And yet at the spelling bee he tells Frederick that the competition doesn't matter. Niles threw the competition when he was a boy because he knew he could spell everything, the competition proved nothing. His competition was always with Frasier. Psychiatry, Oxford v Cambridge, corkmaster etc. Martin wisely just watches.

One of the best episodes for Niles is when he dresses up as Martin for Frasier's Halloween theme game, gets pissed, then insults Martin by claiming that he and Frasier were his greatest disappointments. It's a funny episode but quite close to the bone with what it reveals about the family insecurities. I've always thought Martin's reaction comes from Niles says being close to the truth.
