Absolutely ridiculous argument about pizza

Dinnerdoldrums · 24/06/2022 19:19

DH makes dinner on Fridays (read: puts frozen pizzas in the oven). He forgot my pizza this evening, remembered his and the children's.

When dinner was ready and there was none for me, he offered to put my pizza in the oven so it would be ready 10 minutes later. I told him not to bother as I don't much like pizza anyway (which is true) and he knows I only eat it with them because everyone else likes it.

Now he's sulking because he thinks I'm being ridiculous and I'm hiding in the kitchen.

So am I being unreasonable?

And bonus points if you want to tell me exactly how ridiculous this argument is!

After reading the follow up I now cannot get past salmon pizza. YABU.

LetitiaLeghorn · 24/06/2022 20:49

He forgot to cook a pizza you don't even like. Surely he did you a favour. Order something in and make them all jealous. I couldn't find the energy to get cross over any of that.

Now if he went to the shop and forgot my crisps...well, that's divorce territory.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/06/2022 20:50

Because I cook the rest of the week and just for once I'd rather not, so I eat something I don't particularly like rather than have to spend my evening in the kitchen yet again?

The only time he cooks all week he chooses, every single time, to cook something you don't like. Or nothing. And actually it's not cooking, is it? It's heating up.

I'm erring in the side of arsehole.

I would, but there is not a single delivery service here.

It's 3 against 1. I understand why he does pizza.

All I've taken from this is that you have a pizza each. Something I need to do going forward 🤣

We have three rather than two shelves in the oven for this very reason. Small pizzas though, to stave off the inevitable.

In your position OP I'd just have some cereal or something. That's my go-to if I can't be bothered cooking.

I think the op chose for them to have pizza because they like it and she couldn't be bothered to choose something different. Apologies if I misunderstood that, op.

I'd rather come round to yours! I don't know how anyone can like frozen pizza, it tastes like a sandwich that's been left in the sun and all dried up

Agree pizza is operated and expensive. Just like mush and dosent fill you up.

Vikinga · 24/06/2022 20:56

If he only cooks once a week, why on earth can't he cook something you'll enjoy?

And he's being an arse for being sulky when he was the one who forgot and the one who 'cooks' you stuff you don't enjoy.

BooksnDreams · 24/06/2022 20:56

Number 1: you are unreasonable for not really liking pizza.
Number 2: you are also unreasonable for having salmon on a pizza. WHAT are you thinking?
Number 3: he is a complete moron for ‘forgetting’ your pizza when he does it EVERY week. This unreasonability is equal to 1 & 2.

On the balance of probabilities you are both unreasonable. Sort your pizzeria shit out!

Oh dear. Is there not some illicit food that you really like, like crisp sandwiches (spot the theme 😉), that you could make your Friday night treat. That way being in the kitchen to load it on your plate would be a pleasure and not a chore.

WiddlinDiddlin · 24/06/2022 20:59

YANBU - to forget teh OTHER adult in the house, the one who cooks for you every other day of the week.. thats shitty. That isn't 'i forgot' that is 'I didn't think' and in this case means he was not thinking about you.

However - SALMON PIZZA?

I thought I'd seen it all when I watched a man reviewing a toastie maker, put egg and salad cream... in a toastie. Hot egg and salad cream.

I mean.

Boak.

But salmon pizza.. no, that is wrong.

underneaththeash · 24/06/2022 21:04

I don’t like ready meals or frozen pizza. Would rather have a cheese sandwich (or actually cook something)

ScottChegg · 24/06/2022 21:07

Salmon pizza? Is that from Mercadona??

If so then yes, those frozen pizzas are horrible!

FloydPepper · 24/06/2022 21:07

Bloke makes an error. He’s called stupid, pathetic, a man child, a freeloader (!).

it’s an error. You laugh, bung yours in , wait 10 minutes, take the piss a bit.

you massively overreacted I think

Dinnerdoldrums · 24/06/2022 21:10

I'm difficult, I only enjoy the food that he doesn't prefer.... Spicy food, fish, stir-fry, rice. I wouldn't ask him to start making that on a Friday night.

He has just put the dishwasher on in high dudgeon and left my Tupperware from work on the side.

I know I'm a difficult person but I wish he wouldn't make it obvious what a fucking effort it is to have to be with me.

YABU

You eat pizza when you don’t even like it - why not just have a sandwich or something?

And we all make mistakes. You’re acting like he’s purposely done this to leave you out but it sounds like this is the first time it ever happened so I wouldn’t take it so personally and I definitely wouldn’t use it as an excuse to start an argument over it.

Yes that's a fair point actually. I think I'm looking for an excuse to feel hard done by.

I don't actually like any ready meals. I live abroad and we don't have any of the pretty nice ready meals you can get in the UK (M&S moussaka I'm looking at you!) and everything here is slop with added sugar

Nothing to add, just jumping in as someone else who misses UK ready meals!

KittytheHare · 24/06/2022 21:22

I've got annoyed about this type of thing in the past when there's a tonne of other stuff annoying me, and this is the spark that lights the touch paper. Is that it for you Op?

AStar98 · 24/06/2022 21:22

With all that's going on in the world, that is ridiculous.
Perhaps think of those families who have just been to the food bank but would really love to be eating a pizza together.
And get a grip

Bigsenoritata · 24/06/2022 21:24

Wtf in the name of holy hell is salmon pizza.

Are you a satanist? How does such a thing exist.

Leaving your tuppaware out from the dishwasher is pushing it a bit though its his mistake he is acting like you existed on purpose

ChocolateHippo · 24/06/2022 21:28

YABU to cook 6 nights a week when you're living with an (apparently) functioning second adult. Why does he only cook one night (and frozen bloody pizza at that!)? Is it this that you're aggrieved about?

IckGirl · 24/06/2022 21:28

If my DH had have done this he would have given me his pizza and waited for the second one.

But my DH wouldn't have done this as he knows we are a family of four and it's just odd to not feed one of us.
