To think 2 weeks is an unusually long summer holiday?

How long do you take off on holiday if you go away over summer - particularly if you work full time?

I think half a month is a long time to expect to just walk out of a job and them to carry on without you.

But is that what most people take?

Taking 3 weeks pff away for 2.5, last place was special request for 3 weeks but struggled to take time off usually carried 5 days over each year new place as long as you have the leave to take can take but I make sure my projects are aware, are covered or cleared so no issues on 3 weeks at all, they also encourage not to carry any leave over to carry over requires special authorisation and you strat getting reminders from July to use all your leave so management encourages all year round to book leave and have a balance of working and leave

Two weeks is completely normal. Anything less is a break away, not a holiday.

A mini break is not as good to relax and recharge than a full week or better 2 week holiday.

I went only one week to Tenerife in April and definitely felt a "will be over soon". vibe compared to when I am off for two full weeks. You don't have to stay in one place all the time if you don't want, road trips or 2 center holidays can be great as well.

Too often a mini/city break is just running around and spending too much time on the actual journey to give your body time to go in vaccation mode.

just got back from 4 days in Berlin and we were exhausted, thankfully had a few more days at home to get over it
DH and DS can buy holiday on top of their 25 days plus bank holidays, they have no problems getting 3 weeks off, as long as they give plenty of notice

Some places insist you take 2 weeks in a row at some point as a fraud prevention measure

How does that prevent fraud?!

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 25/06/2022 14:25

cancel the fraud cheque!

Two weeks has always been normal as far as I’m aware .

Mfsf · 25/06/2022 16:08

I used to take 4 weeks for years and work full time . 2 weeks is the minimum I ever took to go away

RaininSummer · 25/06/2022 18:46

It's like groundhog Day here.

What a pointless post.

Two weeks is pretty standard to be honest. We spend enough time in work and all need a sufficient break from time to time, sometimes a week just isn't a long enough break from work to feel fully rested.
