I'll go first....

If you are feeling low, do something for someone else. Not because you have too, but because you can. I promise you will walk away feeling more inspired than you did before! Just be kind in life, it's so rewarding.

Smell the roses. I know it's a cliche but life's greatest pleasures are usually free and right under our noses. Look at the sunrise and sunset, watch the birds, smell the flowers, look at toddlers and dogs in the park getting enormous joy from a stick or a puddle, be glad you hear a snatch of your favourite song from a passing car or shop doorway. Just... take note of the tiny uplifting things each day. They keep you going and they are always there.

Don't borrow trouble from tomorrow.

I am prone to over thinking and micro managing and this is my mantra to stop myself getting in a stew!

Bonjovispjs · 21/06/2022 08:46

Get rid of people who don't bring anything to your life.

beastlyslumber · 21/06/2022 08:48
  • Never apologise - unless you know for sure you have done something wrong by your own lights.
  • Try to think for yourself. Have a moral code and live by it.
  • Don't steal, lie, cheat etc. Basically the ten commandments. Religious texts give good guidance about how to best live.
Kendodd · 21/06/2022 08:49

Lower your bar.

Happierwithouthim · 21/06/2022 08:51

I'm quoting someone else here but "if they're not in your head, your heart or your bed their opinions don't matter"
I also believe it's the people who live under your roof who are the most important people, in my case my dc.

Don't think you can't do something because you can do anything you put your mind to!

VerbenaGirl · 21/06/2022 08:55

“A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush” - value and enjoy what you have and don’t obsess about whether there was something better/more out there. You can miss so much searching for perfection and forget to enjoy what you do have.

Billlius · 20/06/2022 23:37

Use toilet roll to clean your toilet then throw away the dirty paper. Voila, no manky cloth ever again.

This is absolutely genius! How have I got to 51 not thinking of this! @Billlius you are a life changer!

Lightning020 · 21/06/2022 08:56

Stay away from drama queens.

I have several top tips sorry! Here goes.

Enjoy nature. Live simply. Try to declutter your life and embrace minimalism as much as you can feasibly cope with. Try not to take life too seriously. Always look after your health well.

Curlygirl06 · 21/06/2022 08:58

Time spent sleeping is never time wasted.

No one has ever died of dust.

This is my mil's- you might shit on me once but I'm not giving you the chance to rub it in!

AngelinaFibres · 21/06/2022 08:59

When you feel low and that depression is creeping in get up and make the bed. Now you can't get back in it.
Do something every day that a person who isn't depressed would do....clear up your kitchen, do your hair and put on something nice, change the sheets and towels, eat something bright, colourful and good for you.
When you are feeling crap go for a walk and walk as fast as you can with as much oomph as you can muster. Get your heart beating out of your chest. It will make you feel amazing. Then go back and tackle the stuff you couldn't face before

Onthegrid · 21/06/2022 08:59

Plan for the future but make sure you live for now and enjoy every minute.

ChagSameachDoreen · 21/06/2022 09:01

Always do the dishes before you go to bed.

AngelinaFibres · 21/06/2022 09:01

Never let perfection be the enemy of good. Good enough will do . Now get on with it

AuntMargo · 21/06/2022 09:06

Never be afraid to say Sorry, and admit it was your fault, we all make mistakes

DangerouslyBored · 21/06/2022 09:07

Nothing good ever happens after shots…

AngelinaFibres · 21/06/2022 09:07

A hospice nurse was talking to a very glamorous, wealthy cancer patient who was at the end of her life. She asked her what she would tell herself if she had her life again. The woman had lived in New York. She spent her life in the gym trying to be teeny tiny. She didn't meet friends for lunch / coffee and cake because food was the enemy so she didn't see friends as much as she could have. "Eat the cake " she said. Exercise is important but friends are important too.

Mellowyellow222 · 21/06/2022 09:08

Stop worrying what other people think.

don’t accept criticism from someone you don’t respect.

reset Sunday - fresh bedlinen, tidy bedroom, early night.

ThatshallotBaby · 21/06/2022 09:08

Try to be your own best friend. That inner voice?
set it to talking as if you were giving advice or support to your best mate. Just pretend Grin
After a while it becomes stronger that inner positive voice.

SpaceJamtart · 21/06/2022 09:11

If you have to pee in the woods, just take off your trousers, it is better to be very undressed for 1 minute, and to not piss on your jeans.

Car windscreens are not as strong as you think they'd be

Don't buy the cheapest clingfilm

HazelBite · 21/06/2022 09:11

Worrying achieves nothing and is a waste of energy

Paleodiet · 21/06/2022 09:14

Develop self-reliance.

AngelinaFibres · 21/06/2022 09:16

If your parents want you to take a particular path in life because it's something they approve of( teacher bloody training in my case) and you want to do something else be strong, tell them and do the something else. If it means you have to fund yourself with a part time job just do it . Your life belongs to you.

Notinthemoodforthis · 21/06/2022 09:18

JustMaggie · 21/06/2022 00:02

Don't make any big decisions when you're hungry, angry, lonely or tired (HALT).

I’d also add drunk and horny

Drink from the best glasses. Use the fine china, carry the expensive handbag- any day and every day.

Deep, man, deep.
