I just bought a pack of 16 to throw in the snack tin... opened them up and they are not individually wrapped anymore?! When did this become a thing?? Now I have to wrap them all individually in cling film! FFs! 😖

Tunnocks are great!
Soft , squishy, lovely chocolate 😘

But please tell me- What happened to Andrex toilet roll?
It’s absolutely shite now.
like one ply, all cardboard inner and a tiny amount of paper.
Shocking- like a terrible budget range at a massive price!

To add to your FFS, M&S tea cakes have meat in them. Tunnocks don’t but they don’t sell them on Ocado.

I'm confused, what meat do they contain?

PickAChew · 29/10/2022 23:27

They did this back in March. They even sold off the ones with wrappers cheap. I just buy tunnocks, now.

Beef gelatine

Beef gelatine

As does most marshmallow.

@VeronicaFranklin go and piss over someone else’s thread… maybe pick a more recent one!

This thread came up as trending, so clicked to see what all the fuss was about... unbelievable 🙄

Wait until you lot see the size of wagon wheels these days, you will lose your sh*t
Half the size, less jam and you could plaster a wall with the marshmallow. Honestly, it'd make you lose sleep at night.

On a serious note, I'm sure if you wrote a strongly worded email to Marks and Spencer's setting out the pros and cons of the presence and absence of individually wrapping them they'll see the error of their ways and before you know it, they'll be repackaged in their little foil jackets and all your others biscuits in the tin will be safe 😂

Alighttouchonthetiller · 29/10/2022 23:40

This thread has made me so anxious I have just eaten five Bourbon biscuits, one after the other. No-one wants an unwrapped teacake. Even those twats sellotaping themselves to the road and spraying paint everywhere with orange paint when wearing a boob tube and ill-fitting skirts (did anyone else see this person?!?! WHY?!?!? If you want to be a woman, why are you dressing like no woman ever in the history of the world has ever dressed?! ) want a foil wrapped teacake as they sit in the road annoying taxi drivers.

M&S need to take a good hard look at themselves.

Luxurysleuth007 · 29/10/2022 23:51

Haven’t read the thread but I’m just popping on to say I agree with you OP, not individually wrapped and they’ve sneakily changed the chocolate too so they taste different as well, I’m not a fan.

BagpussBagpussOldFatFurryCatpuss · 29/10/2022 23:52

@VeronicaFranklin
When something has been so reliably delicious for decades it is most distressing when they change the recipe.
Worst if all, trying to fob us off with an imposter is very insulting.
It’s not just the missing foil that is upsetting - the entire product has changed.
It’s a serious matter.

VeronicaFranklin · 30/10/2022 00:03

I suspect OP that you're actually outraged by this taking away of the little tin foil teacake jackets, not because they'll ruin the other biscuits in the tin/ go off/ cause waste, but actually because you enjoy unwrapping each one individually to save the foil to make yourself a hat.

I'd suggest swapping your biscuit choices and going for something with a bit more certainty of never losing its tin foil jacket such as a Viscount.

I mean you're practically brushing your teeth while eating a Viscount, so it doesn't bear thinking about how much one of those minty fresh bad boys without a jacket could up a whole biscuit tin!

So on the whole, if worrying about biscuits losing their tin foil jackets is a real worry you have, they're low on the probability list, so a safer and more secure biscuit choice all round.

Oh yes biscuits is always a serious matter, I'm usually more concerned by how they taste though than what they're wearing.

There's always one who think women can't speak about anything unless vitally important to the human race isnt there. Hush OP, know thy place.

I'd say biscuits are vitally important to the human race...
Particular fig rolls, the function they serve in society is vital, what fresh orange can't shift, a fig roll certainly will.

melchim · 30/10/2022 00:31

winterfox78 · 20/06/2022 13:01

Just eat them all. Forget the snack tin.

This is clearly the only solution.

Dolares · 20/06/2022 13:13

YABU for buying anything other than Tunnocks Teacakes 😁

Those plastic trays are daft. They should ditch them but keep the teacakes individually foil wrapped.

Yes to Tunnocks possibly, but I can no longer find their supposed supportive statement on women's rights.
Yes to a separate container for unwrapped snacks.
The plastic trays should be recyclable kerb-side. I bet they have a recycling symbol.

Sparklingbrook · 30/10/2022 08:18

PickAChew · 29/10/2022 23:35

As does most marshmallow.

Yep it’s all very disappointing.

youngestisapsycho · 30/10/2022 08:36

@VeronicaFranklin ooh Viscounts… yes! Green is my fave colour too… and a fresher mouth after 👍🏻😊😝 I didn’t buy the M&S tea cakes often, haven’t since my original post!

Ee bah gum, OP, I'm from oop north and I couldn't make any sense of this post until I realised you meant those marshmallow/chocolate biscuit things.

A teacake, to me, is a sort of hot-cross-bun without the cross, preferably toasted lightly and generously buttered. Perish the thought of chocolate going anywhere near these!😄

UnstableCarHouse · 30/10/2022 14:54

Good for M&S. The whole
packaging within packaging thing is such overkill.

They now taste awful.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 30/10/2022 18:18

I work in a hospital and my office lived on the in 2020 because they were individually wrapped we were allowed to have them to share on the table. We noticed they’re not wrapped anymore. Sad times 😂
