I just bought a pack of 16 to throw in the snack tin... opened them up and they are not individually wrapped anymore?! When did this become a thing?? Now I have to wrap them all individually in cling film! FFs! 😖

Why can't they go in a box without being individually wrapped? I don't get it ...

Appleseesaw · 20/06/2022 12:48

I bought some maybe only a couple of months ago and they were still foil wrapped. You’re talking about the chocolate covered marshmallow things, aren’t you?

youngestisapsycho · 20/06/2022 12:48

Because they get taken in packed lunches or thrown in someone's bag...

Mamette · 20/06/2022 12:49

Probably to cut down on plastic waste with a handy side effect of making them cheaper to produce.

yes! the new outer packaging is paper...

It’s hardly a ffs. It’s obviously to cut down on plastic. Just swap to a different brand / buy something else.

youngestisapsycho · 20/06/2022 12:52

What plastic? They were wrapped in foil originally… still in plastic trays tho!

They have changed the recipe as well

Well I would have bought something else if I had known!

I don't think it's reasonable to perpetuate individual wrapping where it's unnecessary. Get Bento lunchboxes, everything can be separated in the compartments so you don't need to wrap anything up, whether sandwich or teacake.

youngestisapsycho · 20/06/2022 12:54

I have enough lunchboxes without having to buy more thanks.

Just put them in a lunch box then rather than thrown at the bottom of the bag.
Not every single thing needs to be individually wrapped.
This issue can very easily be solved without 16x individual packaging for every box.

You don’t need to buy anymore, just use them then.

SingingSands · 20/06/2022 12:58

That is really annoying because now you've opened them, they're going to start to go soft.

I was responding to the poster who advised me to buy Bento lunchboxes...

Just eat them all. Forget the snack tin.

That is very tempting... I've already eaten 2! have put then in the cupboard now 🤐

OP posts:
SilverGlassHare · 20/06/2022 13:03

I agree that it's annoying, OP. They'll go stale faster and if you don't have bento boxes, you don't want them knocking around the lunch box with whatever else you have in there.

JustRestingMyEyesForAMinute · 20/06/2022 13:04

Put them in a Tupperware in the snack box and then wrap for each lunch/snack as you need them. Reuse the clingfilm/tinfoil, or get reusable sandwich bags (I love ours). Shouldn't take any longer.

But yeah I hear you.

KeyWorker · 20/06/2022 13:05

Don’t wrap them in cling film! You could foil wrap them yourself. The foil is then recyclable.

BarbaraofSeville · 20/06/2022 13:08

Just put them all in a tub together. Why do they need to go in a special tin?

RevoltingHumanHead · 20/06/2022 13:10

That is annoying. The foil kept them nice and fresh. Even in a sealed jar they're going to get stale much quicker.

I have a snack tin, for wrapped goods... like Kitkats, breakaways, go ahead biscuits... I bought teacakes to go in there too. Now I see they are not individually wrapped I will put them in their own tupperware box 😊

YABU for buying anything other than Tunnocks Teacakes 😁

Those plastic trays are daft. They should ditch them but keep the teacakes individually foil wrapped.

youngestisapsycho · 20/06/2022 13:14

There are snuggled up nicely now… thanks for all your comments 😝
