I know loads of people who now say it's their favourite holiday destination?

What's so lovely about it? Looks too hot to me? Can go above 45 weather wise!

I like the Canary Islands because the sun burns down but it has a cool breeze... a hidden gem if you hate sweltering heat

From pictures, it looks like a city like London that just has pools?

No, as I say I live in the UK. Just never tripped over a homeless person or been ribbed by a drug dealer (whatever that means).

I ask again. Have. You. Never. Seen. A. Homeless. Person.

Are you denying they exist? I have had 4 hire cars stolen in London in 2 years, 1 car jacked. I don't want to live around scum like that and I can't bear the fact that there is no healthcare and people live ignored on the streets. If you like it great for you especially if your blinkers are so effective.

Actually what would be wrong with not travelling? We can know a lot about other places without having to travel to them, now. I mean, I could tell you a lot about the surface of the sun, but I’ve never been there.

I was born well outside Europe and travelled extensively in my twenties to a variety of places around the world. But I’m 50 now, with a social conscience, the confidence to make decisions which suit my ethical code, and if I never set foot outside the UK again I would be none the poorer for it. I certainly won’t be judged for not going to Dubai. The blinkered attitude of those who are supporting visiting there on this thread is not a great advert for travel broadening the mind.

Having travelled extensively yourself, presumably you can see the appeal of travel to people who haven't had the opportunity to do so.

CombatBarbie · 16/06/2022 09:40

Never been, don't intend to either. Your insta influencers are more than likely doing the dubai porta potty thing Google at your own risk, its grim

Is it because it’s shiny? Like a turd rolled in glitter.

Another 😂from me. I need to remember this phrase and use it in everyday conversation when talking about pretentious people.

I'm not a homophones I just don't think the thicko sixth former views on here make any sense. This is the world. Shit happens, not all of us share your acceptance of low standards of living and low expectations. It's nothing to do with being gas, it's about being able to make houses about who and where to avoid.

Exceptional written English by the way. You’re correct though, you’re not a homophone with a problem with gas.

You are absolutely nuts honestly

Yes of course I’ve seen a homeless person Hmm But I was responding to your post that said that you like living somewhere where you’re not “tripping over homeless people and constantly being ribbed by drug dealers”. I do not believe for a moment that anywhere in the uk exists that is so full of homeless people you can’t help but trip over them while being chased by drug dealers.

I'm sitting outside by the pool. The sun is glaring. Nice racism by the way. Next time check the person's heritage and colour first.

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 16/06/2022 09:45

Has anyone mentioned the exotic pets yet? Men showing off driving around Dubai with tiger cubs in their cars? Wonder what happens to those 'pets' when they get too big to control? I can't believe people can be so shallow Sad

Ah, yes, you’re the person who on the now deleted qatar thread homophobically abused me and then decided I was pretending not to be white. Odd because on that thread you were quite proud of your homophobia and announcing it to virtually everyone.

I literally don't know what you are on about. I am not scared of who I am, I have long since said we should be allowed to have a picture with our username. I doubt I would have bothered because I really don't care who does what as long as you don't misrepresent things you know nothing about. I do change my name a lot for reasons I won't disclose but if you give me the username, I am happy to open up a discussion of it was me and apologise if I was abusive. I hate the anonymity of the Internet and its obviously necessary in many of our professions not to disclose you you are but I am not a coward. I say things I believe, not bullshit I read in the press like so many of these people.

Oh yes, that thread. I think I took some screen shots.

I've had to go for work a few times. Its a grotesque place. However, lots of people are oblivious to the mechanisms that build and run the place, and the vile treatment of women and minorities, so I can understand why they might enjoy it.

motogirl · 16/06/2022 10:03

Not my kind of holiday because I like visiting historical sites and going to live music with good beer. Not overly keen on heat either. I'm a rare woman who doesn't like shopping. Oman is amazing though, very good on the history front but good beer not so much

Rosehugger · 16/06/2022 10:07

Chav capital of the world.

It's the Trafford Centre with the central heating turned up to the max

😀

Ggg626262 · 16/06/2022 10:10

Chav capital of the world? When I lived there, my rent was about £10k a month. In Qatar its more including utilities. Although as someone who was teased for being posh at school, I actually don't mind that 😀

Hollipolly · 16/06/2022 10:14

@BadLad who is judging you for not going to Dubai??? I think you have misunderstood the thread!

I find it odd that someone sits upon their high horse tearing down Dubai. Lots of 3rd world Countries share similar issues you and I support these with wearing clothes, shoes, and usage of electrical items.

I find it most crass and 2 faced that anybody is behaving so Godly.... it was the non Dubai goers that started casting judgment on this thread first.

You cherry pick what you like though to fit your own narrative.

You paid £10,000 a month rent in Dubai?

BusterGonad · 16/06/2022 10:22

And more in Qatar.

xogossipgirlxo · 16/06/2022 10:23

I don't get the hype either. Concrete, hot temperatures, designer boutiques and no proper sewage system :D

Ggg626262 · 16/06/2022 10:23

Yes. Easily. Here I pay 38k qar plus utilities and pool maintenance. Obviously I don't pay it or school fees from my own money, it's a package but that's what it costs.

So your monthly rent in Qatar is 10,000 british pounds!....
